Great disc! Seems like it stays in the air forever. Really nice for some hyzerflips

This disc is perfect as a utility disc. Its great for beginners to have a disc that they can hit a right finish (RHBH) in the woods with low speed requirement, for this use it is perfect. I rated it somewhat beginner friendly only because it would impact your form negatively to lean on this as a mid if you can't get a stable mid flying straight. Advanced players likely won't need this disc because they will use a beaten up version of their favorite Mid for this slot, but as a newer player I don't have any beaten discs.. so it worked perfectly for me for that slot.

This disc flies as it is advertised, very understable. That being said this disc is perfect for beginners because it will help teach good form on backhands. The only reason this disc is in my bag is that I have not found another midrange as understable as this one with a bead, making it extremely comfortable in your hand. This disc loves to keep the air on it even on big anhyzer lines which is why I keep it in the bag, as well as when I can not get a forehand to the hight I need to be able to hit tight gaps on wooded courses I find myself reaching for an archer because my shoulder can not hard handle overhead throws. If you find yourself frequently playing woods courses I would highly recommend picking up one of these for slow hyzer-flips or technical right moving anhyzers

The Archer is yet another understable disc in the Discraft midrange lineup. I would say this flies more like a fairway driver then a midrange. This disc excels at the anhyzer shot, in fact it seems like I can't throw this without it turning over. That's great if that's the shot you're looking for, but I try to carry less molds that can do more. I do think this would be a great disc to introduce players to the game. Players with less power can throw this disc pretty straight.

5 Stars, Big Z Archer, 174g. A very responsive disc which is perfect for bh approach shots in the woods, from softly left to hard right the Archer is a good choice. A putter can sometimes be impractical due to low ceilings, but the Archer glides well at low speeds and will carry to the basket with little effort. Primarily, I throw this disc bh, from a standstill,  on shots from 80 to 200’. I have hyzer flipped the Archer from the teebox and was surprised by its long straight flight, but I prefer and recommend something more stable for that shot.

This is one of my most used discs, I bag 2 right now, both big z, a 175 and a 167, I use the 175 for flip up hyzer shots and the lighter 167 for turnovers since my forehand is pretty lame at the moment. I also use the lighter one as a shorter distance roller. Not for power shots, doesn't matter how heavy it is, these babies will turn and burn. Its also great for shorter straight shots when you're looking for a little more skip than a putter would get. Great beginner disc, and once you get a little more power it'll still be a great niche disc to have in the bag. I trust this disc more than any other disc in my bag, once you've thrown it a few times, you'll know exactly how it'll fly for you.

    175g Big Z, Grimace Purple

OK, I'm gonna break this up a bit, because there is much to say here...

Things to do with this disc:

    • Thrown hard and flat = little bit of distance before it's quickly a roller.
    • Thrown hard and hyzer = flip-to-flat-to-anny (possibly to a roller or cut-roll).
    • Thrown hard and anny = BOOM, roller.
    • Thrown half and flat = anny line for days with the right height (not enough height and it will cut-roll)
    • Thrown half and hyzer = It really shines here. You can put so little effort into this disc on a hyzer, and it will flip to flat for a long way and then baby-fade.
    • Thrown half and anny = With the right height you'll get hard right turns, be careful of the cut-roll.
    • Thrown soft: easy straight distance, one of the only times you'll notice the fade.

This would be a fantastic beginners disc, but is also really useful for those of us without a strong backhand game. I've parked many a right turning hole with this disc, and without having to manipulate it much other than speed control. As stated above, you really don't see that 1 fade unless you are really cutting down the speed and throwing it counter to an anny. Archer is an odd name for this disc though... straight it is not.

    I have both a Big Z and Z version. The Big Z weighs 175g and Z 167g.

This is not a disc to try and overpower. The harder it's thrown, the more it flips. The lighter (Z) is more flippy, more likely due to the weight than the plastic.

The best way to throw this is a nice, easy flat release. It will go slightly right, with just a slight left turn (thrown rhbh) at the end.

I can see this disc filling a niche between a Buzzz and a fairway driver.

I'm looking forward to throwing this more. I guess I can best describe its flight as a little less glide and a bit faster than a Comet with more turn at the end of the flight. By the way, the Big Z Archer stamp is one of the coolest stamps ever. I'll probably get one just to hang in the wall.

Aside from the Buzzz, Discraft's Archer might be the most consistent midrange I have ever thrown. I'm not bombing it 290' like flight charts suggest is possible, but I am able to throw it 225' with an amazing consistency of flight pattern. I don't see the HST that this disc is rated for, but that could just be my mechanics. For me, this is a straight down the fairway midrange with HST only slightly greater than the Buzzz SS. The LSF is right in line with the Buzzz and the Buzzz SS.

This is a great disc for a beginner (or an intermediate who primarily throws FH) who is trying to work the kinks out of his / her backhand.
