The Anax (pronounced "Onyx") is Paul McBeth's new signature fairway/power driver. This 10-speed driver will fight the wind and stay straight down the fairway before a nice fade at the end. Slower arm speeds will find this disc to be very reliable for shorter fairway drives. Big arms can expect big distance out of the Anax.

When I first started playing disc, I used a Boss and then moved to a Destroyer for most forehand drives that were out of Teebird range/stability. Due to back/shoulder pain however (as well as wanting to bag a disc I’d use plenty for backhand too), I began searching for a slightly slower alternative. After trying the Anax, I knew I found my workhorse driver. It can do enough of the destroyer-y stuff that I don’t feel the need to bag one, while also giving me the ability to shape shots; I can ride an anhyzer without wrist rolling or attempting to throw harder than I should. Additionally, the ESP plastic beats in at a rate that works for me, as sometimes the Champion-style plastics don’t beat in as quickly as someone might want. I have a Thunderbird as well and in comparison, the numbers seem about right—the Anax has higher glide but that fade doesn’t stay around 3 for too long while the disc beats in. I have a couple beat in protoypes that are my best shot-shaping drivers and I am absolutely terrified of losing them but other than that I have no actual problems with this disc, it’s one that never leaves my bag even though I move discs in and out of my bag more than I should. Perhaps the only real downside I can think of is the fact that it’s not cheap since it’s one of Paul McBeth’s signature discs.

I love this disc, I can consistently get around 360-375 out of it with a flex. I would say that it does glide very well, but 6 might be a little of an overstatement. It has quickly become my go-to driver where I either need to flex or need a little fade at the end but don't want to use something like a Raptor or Firebird.

This is my favorite forehand driver. If I throw this incorrectly, it is not forgiving. When thrown correctly though, love to watch the flat glide and then good fade to right. Can take a little speed off and it will still fly correctly but less distance.

I have mixed feelings on the Anax. It flies really well when I can get a good throw with it. I'm able to get a touch of turn with a dependable finish. For a fairway, it goes very far as well. I'm not a big fan of the feel of the Anax however. I find them to be flatter than I would like a fairway to be. The signature ESP plastic is way too stiff for my liking. In the summer, it feels OK but in the winter the plastic is almost unusable. I have also found that my Anaxes have beaten in pretty quickly under normal use. They got a little too flippy for me to be confident in throwing them anymore.

This is my go to "distance" driver, even though it is a 10 speed. I throw RHBH and average 350' on a good drive.

I absolutley LOVE this disc. When it first hits your bag it is a super overstable 10 speed that will most likely always fade to early. BUT, give it time to break in. This disc, 1.5 years old, is not a perfect straight shooter for 300' and then a reliable fade at the end. It will fight headwinds and not turn over. I now have three of these discs, all 170g, and each one is at a different point in the life cycle.

Recommend for intermediate to advanced players as this might be too beafy for a beginner. However, I think this would be the perfect FIRST disc for a player looking to an overstable driver.

To me, because I had been using this disc for so long, the Anax felt and flew like my PD and a Thunderbird. This makes sense if you watch Paul's old in the bag. He seemed to be the only Innova guy who didn't gush about the Thunderbird and liked the PD more. So this literally felt like the baby between the two. The only thing I really didn't like about it is that the rim seems too big. For a control driver like this 9 speed rim is a bit overkill, so a 10-speed I had a difficult time getting around. I know folks like it, but I felt that I could get where this disc got with my Teebirds.

I love the Anax. It is straight to a little bit overstable out of the box with a lot of glide. It flies similar to a thunderbird, but I've found it to be a little less overstable and it'll go farther for me. I really love the flight of it. It's less stable and will go farther than my felons but I can still put some flex on it and know that it'll come out. Truly a money flight.

Where the Anax shines the most is with the feel. It just feels so good in the hang. It fits absolutely perfectly in my hand both for forehands and backhands. On top of that the esp plastic feels great and looks amazing. It's not too slick but it definitely isn't gummy or too soft and the swirls in the plastic are so sick.

Overall I would definitely recommend the Anax to anyone looking for that slightly overstable hybrid driver. It feels great, it flies great and it looks great. The only thing I don't know yet is how it beats in which I'm really looking forward to. It definitely seems like the type of disc that you can cycle a couple through different stages of wear.

When I first started a year ago, my friends and I all picked one brand to stick with since we figured it would be overwhelming otherwise. I was the Discraft fanboy, but since I have improved, I have branched out and tried a large number of discs for each slot in my bag.

The Anax is one of the few discs that stood up to the competition the entire time and still retains a slot in my bag. I wouldn't say the flight is Thunderbird like, though I have only thrown a couple thunderbird's; I think it is more similar to a Sexton Firebird or even an MDGO glo Raptor, but it pushes just a touch farther due to the glide and speed. I echo the sentiment that 6 glide on the Anax is a marketing tactic, but it definitely has more than 4 like most other discs that compete here. The overstability is still very reliable on both backhands and forehands. When I need distance out of my forehand, but I need more accuracy than my distance driver will give me, this is the disc I'm reaching for every time.

Newer players might struggle with this disc, as I did when I first started, but it's one of my most reached for discs these days.

The Anax is a reliable driver with awesome glide. If you need control and distance and a consistent fade towards the basket, throw this disc. Can take a lot of torque for a 10 speed so anyone with moderate arm speed can utilize it. Fun to flick it as well and watch it glide!

The Anax has been a great disc to grow with. Most other discs with numbers close to the Anax are meat hooks for me but the Anax has always flown beautifully. On a full rip I get 80% of the flight straight with a healthy fade towards the end. Great for tucked baskets when coming in from the right. I've also used it with great success on long glidey hyzers. My RHFH isn't very developed but the Anax is one disc that feels great in a FH grip and handles my OAT extremely well. I've tried a Musket, Animus, Thunderbird & Vulture but the Anax just works better.

This disc bombs. if you have the arm for a fairway driver, but not a distance driver; get one. it's not as overstable as the numbers make it sound. it just goes straight then fades without dumping too hard.

Straighter thunderbird imo. Good straight flight and then OS towards the last 3/4 of the flight. good lower speed driver for those that dont do well with 12-13 speeds. This is the disc that I use when I need to club up from my wraith/krait to deal with a headwind but have a similar flight.

The Anax is the Thunderbird what the Zeus is to the Destroyer. I've thrown 3 all in a similar weight range and they each flew differently, so definitely some inconsistency issues IME, but it could've just been a bad run and YMMV. Best way to describe the expected/actual flight is that of a Thunderbird with more of a propensity to skip. Doesn't fade hard and dump like a Raptor, but it's a reliable fade nonetheless. Claiming 6 glide still seems like a marketing gimmick; no more/less glide than a Thunderbird or Avenger. Not a bad mold by any means, but also nothing to write home about especially when Discraft already has other molds that fit the same bill.

The Anax surprised me - when I saw the numbers I was doubtful they were accurate but thought it might still be a good disc for me. After throwing it quite a bit (I've had it for over a year) I think the numbers are correct, 10/6/0/3. I think it's a unique disc because it holds straight for a very long time before fading out and that's thanks to the high glide of this disc. Its fade is also much more forward pushing instead of a hard abrupt dump out. But also because of the high glide, if you put some anhyzer on it, it fights out more slowly than a typical overstable fairway/control driver. It has a nice amount of dome without being crazy domey, the rim is super comfortable, I love ESP plastic because it's firm and grippy and fairly durable. I throw this mostly for backhand shots either flat or hyzer but I've had success throwing forehand with it as well. It flips up more on forehand drives for me. Overall a very workable disc.

This is one of my favorite discs for those long tunnel shots. After a few throws this disc flies straight for a long way and a little fade at the end. When I though mine on any it will hold and flatten out at the end of the flight. I absolutely love this disc on of my go too discs.

I'd call this the destroyer's little brother. I can always count on it to finish left. For the most part straight flight. If I really try to juice it I will get a bit of high speed turn or if I put some anhyzer on it it will reliably go a little right and come back left. I have it in esp and it is my go to straight distance driver.

The Discraft Anax is a super straight flying disc with excellent glide and a dependable fade at the end of its flight. I have really enjoyed throwing this disc on the course, the ESP plastic has a great feel in the hand as well as the durability to hold up as a workhorse disc. I feel like the flight of the Anax is a step up from that of Innova's TeeBird.

I have been really impressed with combination of distance and control you can maintain with the Anax. The Anax has the stability to stand up to a good bit of wind, but in a strong headwind I would probably opt for something else.

Unfortunately, my forehand game is not quite up to snuff to take full advantage of what I am sure the Anax has to offer.

I am a big fan of the Discraft Anax and would highly recommend it to anybody looking for a consistent 10 speed distance/fairway driver!

Super straight and glidey flight with a dependable fade.  Has some pop up to it, which helps it glide. I use it when I need more consistent placement than a distance driver can provide, but get 80% of the distance I Need.  Not the 0 turn as quoted.  Not quite beefy enough to fight a headwind.

Think of it as a longer, glidier, less beefy thunderbird.

I picked up a Signature ESP Anax after hearing good things about the disc and so far it's met my expectations. On an average RHBH drive I throw around 325' and I can get the Anax to around that distance or up to 350' pretty consistently. Still working on getting it to turn a little for more distance but I'm currently throwing straight lines with consistent fade that I love. Overstable enough to fight the wind but fades a lot more forward than my Firebird or Raptor. I can force this over on an anhyzer line and I'm never worried about it because it will always flex back and fade. I was unsure about the glide until I threw a forehand about 340' with it when I only average around 300' on my forehand drives. Pricey but a great disc for intermediate or advanced players. Looks awesome as well!

After about 6 months of playing and upgrading my discs, I picked up a Swirly Prototype Anax. This disc was just a utility disc at first but has since evolved into one of my primary distance drivers as my arm speed has begun to increase.

RHBH - 350ft Max: While the disc doesn't glide as much as advertised IMO

Hyzer: No flip up, just a dip at about 275 ft toward the ground.

Flat:? Disc will carry straight 300-310ft before fading out

Anyhyzer: cuts through wind and is very resistant to being turned over to a point of no return.

Overall, a great utility disc for beginners and a dependable higher speed fairway driver for intermediate to advanced players, plus the signature ESP is sweet!

The only Anax I've thrown is of the bottom stamped 1060 run, and from what I've heard, it was a bit flatter than I expected.  Thankfully, the disc stil met my high expectations of its flight.  It's overstable enough to resist turning over, but has enough glide to avoid dumping out of its flight.  The Anax will push forward during its fade more than most overstable fairway drivers.  This can be a good introduction for players to overstable drivers, as they can still get some good distance while maintaining the control of a fairway driver.  ESP plastic feels great and of course Discraft always kills it with the aesthetic aspect.

    171g ESP Anax

I got this disc to replace my old Champion Starfire and it was a great replacement. The Anax flight numbers are the same as the starfire except for 2 more glide and I definitely feel like the numbers are accurate. My Anax (First Run) is a little flatter than I expected and thus has a little less glide which was somewhat disappointing but still a great disc and has good glide. The other numbers are accurate in my opinion. This disc won't flip over on you and it'll always finish overstable. I throw it forehand and backhand and it's comfortable for both. This is a consistent disc that you can have a lot of confidence in and it takes care of the higher speed OS fairway slot.

At first this disc seemed a little domey but fairly comfortable in my hand. It releases consistently. My disc was definitely less stable than the flight numbers indicated. It has less fade and stability than my tee bird out of the box. It has a nice amount of glide, i can rip it and it will turn with a dependable fade at the end. Into a headwind it will get some turn but wont turn over too much.

This is one of the best discs out there right now. It is accessible to newer players, but at speed 10 it does need a little bit of arm speed. The Anax flies straight with reliable fade. The glide on this disc is amazing, it will fly forever, sometimes pushes too far when I want it go left after a certain distance. I have medium power arm and can reach 350-360 feet with this disc. Overall a great driver that fits in most everyone's bag in between distance drivers and fairway drivers. The colors on these ESP discs are amazing as well.

I  can throw this on a very low line with a little flex or a big anny line and i always know where its going to go. Lots of glide which can be helpful for good flex lines.

I LOVE this disc. Super awesome glide and once it's beat in, very straight. Anyone can bag this and make it work. I would compare this closely to the Vulture or Thunderbird but the glide is super real. I have thrown both but the Anax, even fresh out the box, just glides. Will absolutely recommend to anyone who is learning to throw pure hyzer or forehand shots.

I live on a golf course that is currently shut down and empty. I took my only Anax out for a test run this morning and it gets 9/10 on backhand throws.

Feel: deeper rim but comfortable feel. The flight plate had just the right amount of dome and I had confidence ripping it hard.

Speed: 10 - shoots out of the hand nicely.

Glide: 5.5 - it does seem to have a bit more glide than a normal 5 glide

Turn: 0 - this held a straight line until the end of its flight

Fade: 2 - I give it a 2 fade because the fade wasn't drastic but it was noticeable at the end of its flight. Also, the fade had good forward movement.

Distance: Gets great distance and is very accurate with a straight flight when thrown flat.
