The Cypress was originally launched as an overstable distance driver that had flight numbers of 12/4/0/3 but has since been retooled to be more friendly for throwers of all skill levels. The retooled Cypress has flight numbers of 12/5/-2/2 and has a slightly more blunt rim edge. Make sure to note whether you are purchasing a first run or a production run, since they are quite different.

I have thrown the first run Blue Cypress as well as a more recent run Pink Cypress. The two are VERY different discs. The FR is really flat to the point of an almost awkward feel in the hand and flies like a disc shaped rock. Top 3 most overstable discs I have ever thrown and I have thrown. Fits right in with a Metal Flake Max and a Z Flx Machete. The more current pink Cypress is quite a bit more manageable and even feels better in the hand with more dome. The plastic feels great for a smaller company that is just growing their roots (pun intended) in disc golf. This pink Cypress I can actually get to turn over just a tad but it will still have that reliable fade to it. Of course nowhere near the amount of fade as its Blue FR meat hook brother, but still a good amount. A very impressive first disc from a newer manufacture who I assume will have a bright future to see that this is where they began!

I had an opportunity to throw the Cypress, a disc I had never heard of, from a company I have never heard of, and I was impressed with their first offering. The disc I threw was the more overstable original version of the disc, I have not thrown the retooled version that is supposed to be a bit less stable. The Cypress was comfortable in hand and had a nice flat top. This felt really good in a forehand grip for me. It for sure is an overstable disc, but not a complete meathook. I was able to throw some nice backhand and forehand flex shots that really gave me some nice distance. Overall, I was impressed, and I look forward to see other discs from Aove Ground Level.

Very reliable overstable faster driver that still functions very well as a fairway driver. The plastic feels like an improvement upon gstar and the rim has a good beefy feel in the hand. Can be forehanded and backhanded very succesfully and holds up in any wind.

The Cypress found a place in my bag for a sidearm from anywhere between 100 to 360 (near my max side-arm distance). It handles touch very well and it lets you crank on it pretty hard without turn-and-burning.

The plastic is also just about the most comfortable plastic I've ever held.

I love my Cypress. I’ve been bagging one for over a year now. You just need to know that the current white run is not a -2/2. It’s more like a -1/3 out of the box and beats in to a beautiful -1/2 flight patter. It is weirdly comfortable in the hand, so with that I believe it’s a good introduction to distance driver sized rims. BUT, you really should be able to give it a flat release with some good snap in order to get the desired flight pattern out of it. This is my absolute go to for 350’-375’ shots. It’s also a fantastic sidearm Disc. The comfort of the rim and the consistent stability make it a joy to flick. I literally taught myself how to flick just this year using almost exclusively a Cypress.

When I first picked up the Cypress I already knew that I liked the plastic. It is similar to plastic used on discs like the Reptilian Disc Golf Tyrant, or the Ozone Discs Andro C. It has a slightly gummy, grippy feel, but is durable. I'd say it is a bit like Innova GStar in flexibility, but with better grip. It's a cool plastic.

The two different versions of the Cypress are definitely different discs when it comes to flight. The profile looks completely different on the blue (prototype) and the white (stock run). I actually tested the white because I'm more interested in what the disc is intended to fly like for the long term. The blue is supposed to be more overstable and the white more of a straight flyer, according to the numbers. The white still seems to fade pretty dramatically once it looses velocity. It's a pretty high-speed disc, so maybe I wasn't throwing hard enough. But it faded much more than the "turn -2 / fade 2" rating suggests.

The rim is very comfortable. It feels good as a forehand disc with a very flat top. I liked it more for that because I prefer an overstable disc for forehand. I wouldn't recommend the Cypress as a beginner driver. I would think it useful as a headwind fighter.

For me, I don't think it is a bad disc, but it lacks consistency and doesn't quite fly as advertised. I didn't feel like I was in love after playing a round with the disc. Perhaps with more time I'd figure it out and know how to use it for specific shots.
