The PD2 is a power driver in the Discmania disc line. It is abnormally fast for the stability it offers. Targeted for the strong-armed touring pro, this disc is very reliable with a backhand, forehand and overhead throws in pretty much any condition.

Too overstable for a beginner to backhand, but it's a good forehand driver for people with coordination and knowledge of throwing things. For instance, if you've played 10 years of baseball, this might be a good disc to learn sidearm with because the flippy stuff will just turn over.

This is an excellent overhand disc for all ages/skill sets.

For the hard throwers, this is just a destroyer that won't flip over. This is just a max weight Lucid Defender without the blunt edge.

You already know what this thing is. You can always trust this disc to do what it says it will. It holds up in any wind and will always fade at the end. You can also put some really nice distance on it if you have the arm speed and angle control.

I got my Pd2 in the C-line plastic to replace a lost destroyer. This thing was more stable than I was anticipating, but it holds just about any line with enough power. This thing will not flip over and it does get beat up too fast. I have had mine for about 6 months now and it still holds true to its numbers. You definitely need high arm speed, but if you have that, this disc is useful and reliable.

I have a love/hate relationship with the PD2 because of how much I expect it to do. As an overstable distance driver, it's perfect, I throw it as hard as I want on a hyzer, it flies straight and fades hard. However, I also expect it to fade if I pull my shot just a little, which it will not necessarily do. I also expect it to fight the wind, when truly, this is a straight disc that will not fight the wind for you, you still have to throw it correctly. It is certainly a solid performer and will stay in my bag, but you have to remember that it takes a precise shot, like throwing any other distance driver and will not just fade out. This is a distance driver, not a true meat hook.

    175 S-Line PD2 & 175 C-Line PD2 (October Ghouls Chaos Run)

I find the numbers on this disc to be very accurate. The S-Line PD2 has taken a couple of head on tree hits and you can notice that it's sligtly less overstable. I use this disc for backhand in headwinds now. The C-Line PD2 hyzer'd into concrete and lost a small chunk on the rim. The flight hasn't changed a bit, and is my max distance forehand driver.

(RHFH) This disc is the reason that I started throwing Discmania. I found an unmarked S-Line on the course one day and proceeded to get two birdies that I've never gotten before using a forehand. This is a disc you can confidently put 115% power behind for those distance flicks that you never thought you could throw. Throw it flat, hard, and dead straight. Thanks to this disc my forehand distance is longer than my backhand.

(RHBH) I don't use this disc much for backhand. I find myself pulling out the PD2 for left doglegs 300 feet out, spike hyzers, 15+ mph headwinds, and max distance overhand throws (although it will need a ton of hight and air space.)

The PD2, the driver of the crush boys.

Flight: This thing is stable. For most of the runs that I've thrown, the 175g C-Line PD2 is a beast. It flies very similar to it's numbers, but the difference in it and other drivers is that it seems to push straight until it begins to fade, then it fades very hard and flares.

Feel: The first thing i noticed when I felt a PD2 is that the rim was a little bit wider than I'm used to throwing, but not overly wide. It felt good in my hand for forehand and backhand. I was able to get a very good release point on every throw I had with the PD2.

Overview: The PD2 is an excellent driver for distance if you throw 425'+, and an excellent headwind driver if you're around the 350-375'. Anything below these distances, I would recommend something else.

    Love my PD2s

I bag 3 PD2s.I have a cline metal flake and a regular cline for sidearms. I also bag a gstar for backhand shots. The PD2 is always predictable and is my go to disc for sidearm drives. The Gstar plastic is great for colder weather and it gives more of an s shape to the flight being more understated than the cline. Whenever i need a driver that will always come back the PD2 is what i reach for.A truly overstable disc.

This disc is a total beef stick. Just one of those discs you can always count on fading back, even in a stiff wind. That is, unless you are a professional disc golfer. This disc has a very wide rim, which fits well In my hand. Some discs just feel like they are meant to be gripped hard and thrown far, and this is definitely one of those discs. I liked the feel of this disc a lot, but not necessarily the flight, because of my limited power, so, I got a blizzard c line one, and it is slightly different, very flippy, and a little taller. But I think that just shows the range of this disc.

Note: this is a 5/5 review, I’m not sure what is going on with the stars on my device.

If you finally feel like you can get a consistent turnover for other distance drivers and are looking for a driver you can trust in any conditions this is a great choice. This disc for beginners is a nightmare because it does need a lot of speed to get the proper flight that is the reason throwers such as Simon Lizzote and Eagle Mcmahon trust this disc it handles power very well won't turnover and goes very far. Also great for power forehand throwers who need a bomber.

    1. My review is of a pink 175 gram Simon Lizotte signature disc. I was surprised when it came in the mail how much of a dome it had. Thinking it was overstable a was expecting a flat top to it.    Very beautiful flight for my forehand. I can rip it low and flat getting a good straight flight with a hard dump at the end. Max distance throws for me need a anhyzer to get the disc to turn. I can flick it half power touch shots too

175g Metal Flake PD2. I don't have the power to use this disc as a distance driver, so I bought this disc solely as my stupidly overstable wind fighter/utility disc and it sure delivers. I had a 169g opto Stiletto for that spot in my bag, but it wasn't handling headwind as well as I expected. The PD2 wants to dump left pretty quick, even when ripped into a headwind. The dependability is great, but I'm not expecting too much distance from this disc and that's just fine with me.

The PD2 is a power-thrower's dream come true. I have found it to actually be far more versatile than the numbers might suggest. I currently bag 5 of these wonderful beasts (171g s-line and c-line. 175g s-line, glow c-line, and MF c-line). For power reference, I can consistently throw about 450ft.

The two 171g PD2's fly almost identical to each other, being the least stable of the group. They are both pretty flat and have bubbles in the rim due to the light weight. Thrown hard and flat, these PD2's will gently flip and ride right before fading hard left, usually getting huge distance. Thrown on a slight hyzer, these will flip up and ride straight for days before fading left (as always).

The max weight s-line and glow PD2's are both pretty domey and work great for max distance in headwinds, big hyzers, and accurate distance shots. These happen to fly identical to my lightweight PD2's if thrown into 10 to 20mph headwinds. Without much wind, these usually fly dead straight for about 375ft before they dump hard left.

The max weight metal flake PD2 does one thing and one thing only; dumps left. Seriously, this thing is crazy overstable.

For people with good form and a decent arm, here are a few tips that I've discovered about PD2's:

More dome = more overstable (except for the metal flake, which runs pretty flat)

Flat = slightly less stable (great distance, destroyer competitor)

Concave bottom rim = more overstable

Groove in upper rim = more overstable

    172 G C Line PD2

I am sure it is just my disc, because I can only throw about 450 ft on flat ground, but the C Line PD2 that I have is not as overstable as I wanted it to be. If I throw it at full power it will ride flat for longer than I'd like or even get the tiniest bit of turn in it. In my quest for the Firebird of distance drivers, this is not it. I will be trying a max weight S Line though, just in case.

Just to add to this review the PD2 is a great disc and has really healthy fade, even with the straight hold. Would totally recommend.

I picked out a flat C-line with decent flex and I love it. I throw both FH and BH and use it for both. When I want to rip it BH flat or on a slight anny angle and know it'll fade hard with a big skip I pull out the PD2. I can get it out 320 to 330. When I wanna get it out 250 to 275 with a hard skip to the right I throw it FH. I prefer the feel of the rim in my hand over a destroyer.

Even in light weights, the PD2 is still crazy overstable. If you're just starting out, or if you don't have a huge arm like Simon and Eagle, it's important to know what you're getting into with this disc. On super windy days, this thing is your best friend, and it has proven to be a really great forehand disc as well since it can take a whole lot of torque. I remember trying out a 168 thinking that I could get it to do a little bit of turn, but nope! Even when it's not max weight, it's a beast. That said, it's still a very useful disc, and I keep one in my bag. I use it primarily for utility sidearm shots and days with a lot of headwind. NOT beginner friendly at all.

I got a 175g C-Line PD2 because I wanted something that would be overstable even in the wind but still get me out to 400 ft. or so with my good power. I have watched Eagle McMahon and Simon Lizotte rip this disc for all kinds of shots and I knew it would be reliably overstable and get some good distance.

I got considerably more than I expected. This thing wouldn't turn in a 70mph headwind, even with my power (I have thrown 580ft. with a Star Destroyer, and I usually throw it 420-450ft. on a decent throw). Even Eagle McMahon and Simon Lizotte would only use my PD2 for hyzers or in the wind. I have never thrown a driver that was more overstable. I shouldn't have got it in max weight either because of how overstable it is and I live at high altitude. At first I was a little disappointed because I seriously couldn't even get it to go 400ft. unless I purposely threw it on an anhyzer because it would fade so soon out of my hand. In a right to left crosswind or headwind with a RHBH throw I can throw this disc on a little bit of anhyzer as hard as I possibly can and maybe get it out to 420 or 430ft. My PD2 is pretty flat on top with a very steep/domey edge. The secret to this disc's overstability is the steeply rising top edge, along with the large rim and somewhat protrusive bottom. I was expecting to throw very far hyzers with it but instead it has turned out to be a very reliable headwind/hyzer disc from 340-400ft. Despite being more overstable than what I was looking for, I actually use this disc a lot when I need a hyzer line but it is too far for my firebird, in a right to left crosswind, a headwind or just a long hyzer. I might look into getting a slightly lighter PD2 that has a lot of dome and maybe in S-Line plastic in the future. I think this disc has a great design/aerodynamics because if they usually have a pop top (unlike mine), then most PD2's probably have more of a 5 glide and are very reliably overstable. This disc is great for anybody who has professional power and wants a driver that will be overstable no matter what without sacrificing a ton of distance.

    Overstable baby!

Discmania's top pros are Eagle MacMahon and Simon Lizotte, and they bomb their PD2's and actually make them look easy to throw. Trust me, the PD2 is NOT an easy to throw...and I can blast. First off, the rim on the PD2 is wide...so if you have small fingers or you can't rip enough to get it up to speed, there's strike one. The dome on the PD2 is all over the place...some have pop tops, some are board flat...it's one of the troubles of molding high speed discs, honestly. So there' strike two. Good news? No strike three.

On the third pitch, flight, the PD2 hits a grand slam. It's crazy overstable...I would say it's a spiritual cousin to the Innova Ape...but shockingly has some good glide to it, therefore distance can be achieved, though not easily. You're not going to see turn from the PD2 unless you have terrible form, can throw 500 feet or are putting it on a steep anhyzer. Great for sidearms of all power levels.
