The Claws is an amazing straight-flying putt & approach disc. This slow-flying putter gently floats through the air and lands exactly where you want it to. This is a tall disc with a super blunt rim and thumb grip grooves on top.

This is the first time I've tried a "lid" disc for disc golf, though it is reasonably similar to Frisbees I've played with all growing up (including the concentric grooves along the top) -- and yet at the same time, it's notably different: It can be released flat with power and fly far and straight, where a Frisbee thrown in the identical manner would instantly flip over and into the ground. I'm surprised that the Claws takes the power it does and stays on its line. Also, though it is listed as a 2-glide, it goes as far for me as my Glide 3 & 4 putters do when throwing for distance, and stays pretty directly on target with both distance shots and putts. I almost didn't buy one of these because of how it looked and what the flight numbers indicated, but I was curious, it was on sale for the holidays, and also I wanted to flesh out my set of Yikun discs. Glad I gave it a go! I'm a proponent of Yikun's Phoenix plastic and would have preferred to get one in a higher grade than Tiger line for the sake of longevity. Hopefully this lasts OK.

A great overstable 1 speed approach disc. It has  thumb track type grooves on the flight plate that are small but help for grip. Flies similar to a Kastaplast Berg but with a touch more glide. The plastic is a base line type, which isn't super durable, but provides nice grip. If you don't like the feel of the Berg, this is a good alternative to try

For the intended use, this disc is excellent.  For some reason, I couldn't connect with the Berg. So I tried one of these. The tiny bit of over stability worked with my far from perfect form. Jump putting  with this thing is fun! I do like Tiger Line plastic but, it wears so quickly. This disc in a premium plastic would be pretty nice.

LOVE this disc for simple hyzer approach shots.  Not sure if its the blunt rim, the rings, or the feel of the plastic but I am very impressed with this cheap putter. Mainly use it for 70-200 ft open hyzer approaches and for some reason it just clicks with my brain and I can consistently land it closer to the pin than any other disc in my bag.  Plus it's like $6. Outstanding.

I picked one of these up in the Yikun start pack on Wish just to test them out before the Discmania collaboration was released.

I think the main issue was the fact it came in 150g which i think is FAR too light for a putter, especially when you have any wind whatsoever.

That being said.. for a disc that was super cheap it doesn't make the worst putter for a beginner who is used to throwing frisbees! I have given it to friends who have never played a round before who have been able to at least land 15ft putts with it, so it must be working for some people.

Wouldn't really recommend if you are looking for a main putter (unless you LOVE lids and haven't tried all the others), but if you are after something cheap and not half bad.. pick one up (though not in the light weight starter set)

The lid to beat all other lids!

Wow! That was all I could say after my first throw of the Yikun Talon/Claws. I was truly blown away by the flight of this unique lifestyle putter. This is the first Yikun disc to really impress me. Let me start by saying I have a true love for lid style discs. This likely comes from my background of playing back in the late 80 s with Wham -O Frisbees.

The feel of the Claws is strikingly similar to your standard Frisbee. It has the Wham - O "Rings of Hedrick" along the top. The edge is not beveled making it a true lid. The Tiger Line plastic is stiff...Super stiff. My beloved KC Aviars aren't as stiff as the Claws. The big downside of this disc is how easily the Tiger Line plastic bests up. It doesn't drastically effect the flight,  but it is a grand annoyance.

The difference between the Claws and other lids like the Polecat (my lid of choice) Birdie, Sonic or Rattler is that the Claws is overstable. Markedly so. I use my Polecat for fan grip touch style upshots and short drives. Any sort of power on a traditional lid will turn it over in short order. I can power grip the Claws and give it some real juice and it will just carry nice and flat. Because of that, I can get the Claws 30 to 40 feet farther than  my Polecat. The Claws is great in a headwind. This is due to its lack of glide, which is uncharacteristic of lids. As Alan pointed out in his review the Claws drops out of the sky in short order.

I love the Claws. I really do. When it's windy, I will bag my Claws over the Polecat for sure. Of you like lids as I do, you will enjoy having the Claws in the bag.

The Talon is a completely unique disc with a different purpose and flight, it is like the old school Innova Birdie or Polecat but with Sonic like grooves at the top. This disc is really tall, the plastic is fairly hard, and it drops out of the air really quickly. This disc is soo good for approach shots, especially if you have an Ultimate Frisbee background. The Talon is definitely more overstable than a traditional Frisbee, but it has a more similar feel for the spin type throwing motion.

Experienced disc golfers used to their more traditional putters likely won't like the Talon for putting, but if you're not used to a specific putter, you might like the unique shape of the Talon and the different feel and flight it provides. This disc is the same mold as used in the Kestrel Discs Putter. This is an excellent disc golf disc for a true beginner.
