The Phoenix Line plastic is long-lasting and has a great, translucent appearance. The Phoenix Star blend adds extra sparkles to the mix for added appeal and often has a much gummier feel with good grip.

From other reviews it sounds like different runs and/or plastics have tended to be inconsistent. Well, I did field work with this along with seven other drivers with same glide/turn/fade numbers (just a range of different speeds), and for the disc I have at least, the numbers seemed roughly right except it was much more stable than expected. I was looking at this disc for months and finally nabbed one, thinking it would be a slightly more stable partner to my Waves. I think I'd take out the -1 Turn and make it 0 and bump up the fade a bit. I experienced the same with its 10-speed (but otherwise identical) sibling the Long, but not really with its 9-speed (but otherwise identical) sibling the Bi. The Jun is just too overstable for beginners, but in general could be a good disc once you know what it does: It gives a consistent overstable flight, it's just not quite how it's billed, and gets outclassed by similar discs (including its slower siblings). As an 11 speed with -1 turn & 2 fade, I'd expect it to go farther before fading than a would a 12-speed with same glide/turn and a higher fade (i.e., my Destroyer), or fade out a little sooner than a Wave (which has identical numbers to the Jun except a -2 turn) -- but neither is the case: It fades out left a lot sooner than either of them and doesn't get anywhere near the same distance. For my arm speed, the overstability of the Jun might make it a good choice with stiffer headwinds, but otherwise it will likely take a back seat to other choices. I do really like the Phoenix line plastics (similar to Champion grade). I have several Yikun discs in this grade and it has a good feel and releases cleanly, and I appreciate the durability it demonstrates. However, while this Phoenix Star version with the shiny flecks in it looks kind of cool, it has a course, gritty feel on the underside, unlike my other Phoenix or Phoenix Star discs. Not sure I like that, as discs usually only feel that way if they have sand & grit still needing to be wiped off.
