I'm not a bomber by any stretch of the imagination and most of my throws with this disc have been on a highly technical course. This disc is just easy distance for me on backhand. I hit the backwall of trees on some holes that google says were 310ft but the disc was still like 30-40 feet in the air and it wasn't really diving yet. It has some issues handling the torque of my forehand but thats probably a me problem as I primarily throw forehand and usually with OS stuff so my angle control is sub par. I really enjoy it and for the price (on sale some sites for like 5 bucks sometimes) its kind of hard to beat. Plastic is also pretty nice.

I thought the latest Yikun discs in the Glaze plastic were pretty cool looking and decided to give them a try. I field tested this one along with some similar 10-speeds and found that it had less turn than the -2 discs, but not by much. I was surprised to have a -1/2 (Turn/Fade) disc turn over so readily. The disc flies pretty well, just more turn and less fade than the original flight numbers suggest. The end result, though, was a straighter-flying disc, which is helpful, though in judging its overall distance, I put the glide down to a more reasonable 5 instead of a 6.

The Glaze plastic looks pretty cool, as does the stamp. I'm definitely no Chinese expert, but it seems to have a rather classy cultural element to the design. I also like the feel of the Glaze plastic, as it releases smoothly and cleanly for me (reflecting also the quality craftsmanship of the disc -- no flashing or oddities to affect grip or release). The disc speed may make this a tad fast for beginners to use, but since it's not as stable as indicated, I think they might not do too badly with it; and it gives them something to work with and gauge the progression of their throwing ability as they see themselves getting better with it over time.

The Hou Yi is a lot straighter than I thought it would be. I think my comfort range is up to 8 speeds so I knew this would be a little out of my speed range but even with my arm speed it was a pretty dead straight flight with little fade at the end. I wanted this disc to be an overstable control driver that I can use for forehands but this disc can't handle torque very well, burns over with power but work well with a touchy flick shot. Overall the plastic feels great! The mold feelds Great! But there is still some work to do to get that overstable flight.

I'm really liking the new Yikun Hou Yi in Glaze line plastic.

This is a very comfortable driver with a fairly thin rim. Yikun classifies the Hou Yi as a "Distance Driver" but I'd say it's more of a high speed fairway driver. The Hou Yi has a thin profile and a nice flat top to it. The Blue and Orange HU YI I've been throwing is a bit more understable than the flight numbers indicate, of which I really like. The degree of high speed turn make this disc ideal for shot shaping on throws of about 320 feet where I need the disc to turn right to get around an object but then fade back to straight. With it's flat top and thin profile, I really like the Hou Yi for controlled forehand throws. It's not a disc that you can put a lot of power into on a forehand, but for a nice smooth release the Hou Yi provides a full flight path and effortless forehand distance.

Lastly, the Hou Yi's Glaze plastic is fantastic with a really good amount of grip (unless the disc is wet) but also really durable. And of course the Glaze line looks fantastic while being much less expensive than discs with similar special effects from other brands.
