The Shield is the overstable Westside putter that was used as part of the 2014 Trilogy Challenge. This putt & approach disc is more stable than the Swan and a straighter flyer than the Westside Harp. This is a very tall disc at 2.5cm tall, and is relatively flat. Like all Westside putters, this disc will be available in the BT plastic blends.

Straight shooter. Reliable straight shots C1 and C2. Also reliable as a thrower for upshots and off the tee. Great mold to keep multiples in your bag in different plastics for putting and throwing

I've tried A LOT of putters.  Like, A LOT.  Each one I've tried has it's own pros and cons, but until I found the shield, I didn't believe I could find a putter that could work so evenly for me as a driving, approach, AND putting putter.  This thing is so stinking versatile.  Even in the BT plastics, it handles BH torque quite well, and doesn't just dump the second a gust blows.  It also has a very dependable flight for both BH and FH approaches.  And at least for my hand size and grip preference, this thing eats chains for every meal.  Holy cow.  I've increased my C1 avg now to b/w 80% and 90%, and I am willing to attribute a bit of that to the Shield.  LOVE IT.

I recently switched to the Shield as my main putter, and it's the best feeling putter I've used since I started playing. Of course the caveat for anyone reading this is that my hands and my putting grip and plastic preference are uniquely mine. But in the medium plastic, my goodness does it feel great. Velvety to the touch, and just a little bit of give without being floppy. This is also an excellent putter whether you enjoy beaded OR beadless putters, the microbead on the Shield is both a great spot to rest your finger on but doesn't portrude like maybe a KC Aviar would. The Glide on the Shield is wonderful as well, as in it doesn't glide a ton, so if you're prone to aggressive putting, or you're afraid of blowing past the basket, the Shield has a good controlled flight that'll get you where you want to go. If you're looking to the Shield for throwing purposes, it is a great stable throwing option. Even in baseline plastic, it'll hold the line and give you a stable finish. If you want to carry one mold of putter for everything you need on the course, beat the tar out of one, keep a couple to putt with, get a premium plastic one and you'll be set for life! Give the Shield a try!

I own close to 30 shields in six different plastics. I don't putt with them anymore, but it's still my all time favorite throwing putter. I don't know what the previous reviewer is doing wrong, but none of them are understable. My tournament plastic shield had some turn at first, but it was OAT from my own form issues causing it. Even my old trilogy challenge shield that has taken a beating has almost no turn and a bit of fade. It's a great driving and approach putter. BT medium is my favorite.

The Shield is a great feeling stable to overstable throwing putter and a nice straight inside the circle putter. I have been throwing a Shield for a couple months and I love it on hyzer shots that glide back to the left. This mold doesn't fight to the ground hard, but it has a reliable fade. I can throw the Shield relatively hard and get it to pierce straight then fade. I can also throw it on soft backhand flex lines. I really think all the Westside putters are best in the BT Medium plastic in my opinion. It's tacky and soft to the touch, but is firm enough to hold its shape.

This is one disc that I keep taking in and out of my bag. The reason it keeps coming back is that I absolutely love the feel of this disc in my hand. It all works for me. My hands are not too big and this disc is comfortable for me. The BT medium is great as it is not too soft, but it definitely is not hard. It has a very soft feel without feeling gummy or like you can fold it over. I have had some great shots with this disc, but I just have not been able to find the absolute need for it. I putt better with other discs; both the Warlock and the Colt for longer putts. For upshots and approaches is why I keep coming back to this disc, but lately the Colt has come in and taken over those duties as well. This disc won't be going too far, but I am not sure if I have the need for it at this point. I can't say enough how great of a feel this disc has though!

I currently bag the BT Medium Shield for approach shots and anything outside of the circle. Anything closer and I will bring out a Zero Hard Dagger. The BT Medium plastic feels great in the hand and the Shield is great at staying in the air and holding on to chains if you make contact.

The Shield is one of the best throwing putters ever, and unlike many other throwers, is great for putting too if you get it in a BT blend and wear it in a bit. It fills the hand nicely with its blunt rim, but is not awkwardly deep. It has a nice fade at the end of its flight, but is not too overstable. If I had to pick one putter to do everything, it would likely be the Shield.

I have used many putters in my long career from the aviar, wedge, pure, ruby, and roach. I ended up finding this beauty when playing in the trilogy challenge. As soon as I held it in my hand I was sold. It has a small bead on it, the plastic BT medium has a good grip on it as well even in the rain. The disc is pretty flat and has more glide on longer throws then you would think as well.

Off a righty forehand throw, it can handle a lot of speed without flipping over, the disc will go incredible straight and pending on the height of the release it will either just keep going straight until it hits the ground or with air under it will start to fade to the right(again forehand). Within mid-range the disc can pretty much do the same as above. It will also handle anglers very well. It can play so well as a midrange doing almost whatever you want. Within the circle as a spin putter the disc will go very straight. With some confidence you will hit chains all day, you just have to put some belief in yourself. Attack that basket.

I have not turned back since the day the disc has come out and have it in all plastics pending on the weather conditions. This disc has changed my putting game and made me a better player for sure.

I have been using the Shield as my main putter the last couple of months and I really just like how it feels in the hand and how it releases for my style of putting. It is a good straight shooter and is decent in the wind. I live in Oklahoma so sometime I have to bump up to the suspect for super windy days into a headwind.

This is my favorite putter in my bag!  I bag 2 Mediums for putting, and a TP for driving

As a putter, this disc is very stable and flies very straight for the hybrid push/spin putter.  Only on putts outside 20-25 feet do I even notice any deviation off course.  Goes right where I put it, and does so consistently!

As a driving putter, this disc excels in shots that require the disc to go straight for about 85% of its flight before finishing. When I put full power into it, the disc resists turning over, and flies dead straight on the line I put it on (when thrown flat).  After about 80-85% of its flight, the disc begins to fade out. The fade is not drastic, but it is noticeable.  This disc, in the TP plastic, will come out of an anhyzer shot if given enough height (for someone who can only throw it about 200-250).

The feel is phenomenal, it fits in my hand perfectly (I don't have the biggest hand). The release is always clean and smooth, even with the microbead. I have so much confidence in this disc, I love it!

I picked up a couple of these a few weeks ago from the winnings I earnings. I'm so in love with it, I wish I wasn't so unsure about WS disc.  Although they are invading my bag. I'm up to 4 WS molds.

The Shield is a great all around disc and a big part of my bag. It can do it all: Drives off the tee, long and short upshots, and inside or outside the circle putts.

The profile or feel of the disc is a medium depth with a micro bead that has flat top with an evenly rounded edge. I don't have big hands but find it to be comfortable and not too deep. It handles both backhand and forehand shots easily.

For drives I prefer the VIP and BT hard plastics for long term durability. I've found the VIP plastic to be a bit more overstable than the base plastics.

For everything else I prefer the BT medium plastic. They have good grip, hold their firmness in hot temperatures, and can be cycled for different stages of wear and flight.

I've used the shield for both push putting and spin putting and found it to work well for both. It is slightly overstable and has average glide. It wont float like a Dagger but isn't a brick like a Sinus either.

I have this disc in the trilogy version. It has served as a great back up to my vibram ridge. Fights the wind has decent glide and the flight, numbers are spot on. Id be lost without the shield.

Great putter. Comparable to the judge in that: Great off the tee, beaded, similar depth in the hand. For me, The shield is flatter than a judge, with a slightly less rounded edge. This is one of those great putter that you just need to try to see if it feels right for you. Different plastics will vary stability slightly...BT for grip!

This is my go to approach disc. It is one of the few discs I've found that have the same flight no matter if you throw it 100ft or 300ft. Throw it straight and flat and it will hold it for a majority of the flight then have a small amount of fade at the end. It will hold about any line and has tons of grip. I carry two in my bag, one as a windy putter and one as an approach disc.

Got this as part of the trilogy challenge.  A little more OS than I personally like but the feel in hand is great and I can adjust to the OS.  Hasnt replaced my Omega SS but it does have a spot in the bag.

Tried this out for the first time thanks to the Trilogy Challenge this year.  This is now my go to putter and also helped me to achieve my first ACE!  Love the feel of it in my hand and I'm able to get a nice release that is straight and true every time.

This is my go to putter! Once I switched to a Shield I instantly started putting better. The grippy plastic grabs chains, and the stability makes for a great driving putter.

First threw in 2014 trilogy. Nice putter for those looking for a grippy disc with a pretty stiff feel.  Easy to control with just a little fade on slower tosses.  Can handle a bit more power but will start to flip for me if I try to give it too much off the T-pad.
