The Viking Cosmos is described as a point and shoot fairway driver. This is a straight-flying driver that is great for beginners and works great for tight courses where you need to hit the tiny gaps.

Viking makes various great molds and this is no exception. This was another one of my first discs that I owned and I quickly became accustomed to the beautiful flight out of the box. I would always reccomend getting Viking discs in storm plastic for many reasons. In storm the discs tend to fly more true to their flight numbers while having an exceptional feel, and this was definitely the case for the cosmos. When I first got it, it yielded me nice s-curve flights and slight hyper flips as a beginner. I actually still bag it for the occasional roller or huge anhyzer in the right wind. This thing still definitely goes far, but is not nearly as suited for my improved arm. Anyways, It has always found a spot in my bag and it is a great disc in storm plastic (max weight as well).

I have most Vikings discs in Storm plastic. The plastic type itself is great: I like the feel of it, it releases cleanly from the hand, and it's durable (similar to Champion, C-blend, etc). The Cosmos is simply a terrific all-around fairway driver: It's neutral enough that it has worked pretty well in both headwinds and tailwinds, and I get great flight paths and distance with it; but it has also been a useful disc for beginners that I've had give it a go. They have gotten good straight-toward-the-hole distance with it. Hard to not love this disc! Big arms might need something more overstable, but in general this is a great option to have in the bag.

Wow what a great disc , flys better than anything in my bag , this is a great disc for narrow shots, maintaining a flat flight path and having great distance, but it must be thrown properly as beginners tend to have a inconsistent form leading to the disc sailing away on whatever angle they threw it

Great understable fairway driver but flies nothing like the numbers say. More comparable to an Underworld rather than an FD. As a beginner I loved this disc but I quickly outgrew it.

I got this disk as a mystery disc at checkout. After hours of videos, I finally figured this was the one.
If you get the one with the Viking ship on it then there is no indication as to what this disk is aside from the weight.
That being said this disc is a saving grace for those that have not gotten their forehand to throw quite figured out.  Throw it with a modern to low anny and this thing will bend around any dogleg right you run across with a continual fade at a slow speed.
Defiantly one to show your beginner friends.

Got this as a Mystery disc. I've thrown some Viking plastic before and generally like it. After i figured out what disc this was, i field tested it and liked the feel and flight. Really straight and a decent amount of glide.

When I saw the flight numbers of this disc, I expected a straighter Teebird. My first throw with it flipped over and cut-rolled. When thrown higher, you can get some interesting turnover lines. The disc makes for a decent roller, though it is picky about the angle it lands on. It's definitely not the disc I expected it to be, but probably has some utility.

If you're brand new to disc golf, make the Viking Cosmos your first starter disc. If you are a one-disc person and play once a year, this is the one to have. I'm new to the sport, and with limited range. I have no problems throwing this one 200 to 250 feet with a little hyzer. Even this beginner doesn't feel a birdie is out of the realm of possibility every time I throw the Cosmos off the tee.

I do agree with other reviewers though, that this disc feels and flies understable. Do you wish Innova made their Archangel in Champion plastic? The Viking Cosmos in Storm plastic would be it's closest cousin.

Another Viking disc that the numbers are way off on. Unless it's the production runs? This thing will turn into a roller unless thrown with a hyzer release. I don't even have much arm speed. Basically a utility disc for me.

My go to fairway driver on nearly every basket! Absolutely love this disc! It always just seems to find its way out of the bag, and into my hand. Super consistent and predictable flight pattern.  Personally, I can shape shots with this disc better than with any other in my bag.

Need a nice Hyzer flip?  Cosmos.

Long S curve with a gentle fade? Cosmos.

Need something to hold a nice Anhyzer line? Cosmos.

Truly, the only problem I have found with this disc at all, is that about half of the flight numbers aren't accurate.  Speed and glide are closer to what you might expect.  But it is for sure more understable than the numbers would suggest.  So if you just grip it and then let fly the dogs of war and thow it at 100% power, it's gonna go wide right on you.  But with the use of a little restraint, this disc in your hands is like clay in the hands of a sculptor.

Visualize the shot I want, and execute. Never been easier than with the Cosmos.

Those number are so tempting but this disc is extremely understable. Even on a steep hyzer this turns into a roller for me without much power. Hopefully they can figure out the problem to get it stable as advertised or just rebrand to be there super understable fairway.

Pros: Storm plastic looks and feels great!

Cons: It looks like I received one of the stupidly understable ones. I am okay with repurposing discs that aren't what I expected, but this one I could not find a use for.

This disc is awful for anyone with more than 200' of distance. For reference, I have just over 400' of consistent power. If I put 300ft of power on this it will flip over faster than a 10 year old DX Leopard. Thing is not as stable as advertised. I was not expecting this to fly like it does at all.

I would describe the flight like a really fast S-Line. It turns over quickly, then fades as soon as it is done fading. There is little to no glide, making this definitely not a point and shoot fairway driver. If you are in the market for a point and shoot fairway, I recommend the Discraft Passion, or an Innova Star Leopard.

This disc also feels awful in the hand. Storm plastic feels like an attempt at premium plastic like star, but is lacking the tackiness or the flexibility. The dome of the discs is significant, with a narrow oddly shaped rim at its compliment. Feels like a Franklin disc trying a new plastic.

I do not recommend this disc UNLESS you are a semi-beginner looking for a roller, or turnover shot. This could be useful for a first driver for straight beginners.

Long story short: Buy this disc. If you can. Right now. Not sure why you're even still reading this. Just do it. Thank me later.

I've tried any number of fairway drivers in an attempt to get a long straight shot. I've heard the old adage, "you can play well anywhere if you can throw a straight line for 300 consistently." Well, folks, enter the Cosmos. Somehow, Viking has created a disc that holds it's line well enough to not burn over, yet still fight straight before needing to die off left. When thrown flat, it just goes. Like straight. Like really, really straight.

Now I hear ya out there, stability differences are out there for a reason. That's true. COUNTERPOINT: throw this disc. Put it on hyzer or anny, you'll be fine, my friend.

ONLY CAVEAT - this applies to Storm Plastic only!! I don't know why, but that plastic is great.

Sure you want discs that fade and turn reliably to give you left and right shots.

You NEED a disc that will go long and straight.

I had an FD that fit the bill nicely and have success with Breakout, Kraken, Relay, and Centurion. One of my favorite straight discs is the Cosmos in Storm plastic. It flies like the numbers. Straight nearly the whole way with a tendency to fade at the absolute end. Some go dead straight like you shot an arrow rather than threw a disc. Hard to fault a disc for that. I've never had it turn or exceed the fade expectation.

Highly reliable for gauntlet throws between insanely tight tree lines.

Get one and see if your Disc Golf Universe doesn't open up to the Cosmos.

This disc is FLIPPY in Storm plastic. Thrown flat at full power (375ft avg drive for reference) it dumps right. However, dialed back or on hyzer this disc is money. It is easy to get it to flip up to flat and glide, and works very well for turnover shots in the woods. I recommend this disc, just make sure you know what you're getting, which is not a full power point & shoot like a TeeBird.

Those who know, know. The Cosmos is my favorite disc golf disc of all time. My first disc in the mold was in the Armor plastic, the hyper durable ESP/Star plastic version of the polymers produced by Viking. I immediately fell in love with it, and the Ground plastic was quick to arrive at my house as a backup, since I was terrified to lose my Armor Cosmos as it had been a limited release stamp and a gift from my girlfriend. Even with a disc retriever in tow, I still can't hardly bring myself to throw it. With how often I reach for the Cosmos, the Ground plastic quickly beat in so I bought a model in Storm plastic. Okay, how do I put this . . . Alright.

In 2019 on the fourth of July, I was on a dock on a lake with my cousin, who is probably my best friend outside of my siblings and girlfriend. We were listening to one of our favorite country artists, and the Hazy India Pale Ales were going down smooooooooooooth. Then Colter Wall, the guy we were listening to, bust out a cover of 'Hotel Yorba' by the White Stripes. It's a favourite of ours, and the last song you would expect him to cover. Then our uncle showed up and explained his friends were unavailable to go out on his yacht, and asked if we would want to come with and help finish off some whiskey.

That's the Storm Cosmos. The Storm Cosmos is something absolutely perfect, and just like that, it somehow gets even better to a point where the cliche that you might be dreaming crosses your mind. There's no way, I thought, something can improve from an already seemingly flawless state. Yet here we are. The Storm plastic is as durable as the Armor plastic, and something about this particular mold makes the Storm plastic seem much improved. It just feels, well, different. Like GStar plastic from Innova, but much more firm. The weight is perfect, as well, weighing in at 169 grams which I had purchased but wasn't exactly thrilled about.

Remember, 0 turn means that a disc has no threshold or limit to turning over, 1 means it is resistant, and the negative numbers indicate a tendency. The lower the speed plus the lower the weight means that turning a disc over becomes more and more of a possibility. I already have flippy drivers, I didn't need anything expressly understable. If I'm careful, though, I literally have EVERY shot I can think of with this disc. Seriously. I've thrown Hyzer flips, winding S curves for an ALMOST ace on hole 6 in my local course, and sweeping anhyzers that needed a bit more grace than I can provide with my balls to the wall forearm.

I suppose I may be a bit biased. I fell in love with Viking on the first throw of my Barbarian a summer ago, and I adore the Cosmos. I just want you, the reader, to experience what I have and make the switch. Well worth the half hour spent digging this dude from a river.

PROS: An improvement upon a disc that I didn't know could be improved upon.

CONS: I'm not cynical enough to even make any up.

I got cosmos in storm plastic and I will say that this is my favorite disc. It does have some negative turn that the disc does not state but you get used to it after a couple throws. I very good stable fairway driver that flies the best on the backhand and pretty good on a forehand

I got this in 173g storm plastic. It's a decent disc, I feel like it's not true to it's numbers. As usual with the brand, it is more understable than advertised. I originally bought this disc to be a straight point and shoot, but is now my go to for right turns thrown rhbh on non distance drives. If I was to compare this to anything, it would be like a beat in maul.

The only reason for a 4 star instead of a 5 star is because it's not true to flight numbers.

The Cosmos in Storm plastic has become my go to fairway driver for tunnel shots or fairways requiring a slow s curve line. This disc does take some time to get used to release angles and power, but once you figure it out it's magic and has some sneaky glide in it. Great for beginners with slower arm speed and will teach control of power and release angles. If thrown with power it must be released with hyzer angle, a deep hyzer angle if you want it to flip up and fly straight. You can get great s curve lines out of it when released with more of a 30 degree hyzer angle. On a flat angle it will of course turn over as a roller. It's a disc that is very easy to hyzer flip. I carry 2 cosmos in my bag with 2 c-line FDs and an Alpha for fairway drivers, the Cosmos gets almost as much use as my FDs.

I bought this disc in Storm to give Viking Discs a try.  If released with a little hyzer, it will flip up to flat for most of it's distance and then mildly fade at the end of it's flight.  My 13 year old son was able to get descent distance in a straight path.  I put it straight in the bag for tunnel shots.  The plastic feels really good, very similar to CE I would say.  From the other review, it sounds like the Storm is more stable than the Ground.  I think the numbers are pretty accurate also.  I will have to get the Armor to give it a try, or at least get another Storm.

I've been trying out a lot of smaller Disc Makers lately and couldn't resist trying out the Cosmos. The flight path alone is pretty enticing, I've had a hard time finding a good fairway driver that keeps straight for tunnel shots.

First off, I got a Storm Plastic Cosmos that weighs 162g. The plastic feels similar to the Latitude 64 Opto plastic, but with a little more flex. Really enjoy the feel of it, it's easy to get a solid grip. Second, this disc has some underrated glide! The Cosmos soars really well, and I've been able to get more distance out of it than some of my favorite fairway drivers with similar specs. It also holds it's line really well, now I'm just hoping it keeps it after continued use.

I've been really impressed with the Cosmos so far and it's found a new home in my bag for regular use. I'm also going to start looking at other discs in the Viking Discs line as I've been pretty impressed so far.
