The Drift is the third disc introduced into the Streamline lineup. This fairway driver is very controllable and usable by players of all skill level. Newer players will find that the Drift provides laser-straight lines that end with a gentle fade. Experienced players will love using the Streamline Drift for straight line hyzer flip shots and long anhyzer turnover throws.

Streamline discs are single mold discs manufactured by MVP Disc Sports.

Great disc that stays very true to the numbers if you have avg or more arm speed.  Crazy durable plastic which is great for us New England woods players. Put it on a slight hyzer and it's a laser.  Throw flat and it gradually turns over half way through the flight.  A must have 7 speed for players maxing out around 350 feet.

First things first: with a 1.8cm rim, it's not a 7 speed, but 8 speed.  (but if they advertised it as an 8, they'd have to give it a 4-ish glide rating, which wouldn't help sales).

What I wanted was a glidier Leopard.  What I got was a slower Thunderbird.  This thing is supposed to have a -2 turn?! What turn?!  And it fades more than a brand new metal flake Teebird that I have  (7 5 0 2)  if we're to compare "7" speeds.

In comparison, at my armspeed a gstar Hawkeye and a metal flake c-line FD get a bit of turn and a bit of fade, and yet, they're in the same speed category as the Drift claims to be.

Maybe I just got a bad disc?  I don't have a ton to sample - I only have this one, and it is what it is.

There are plenty of other options out there - if you're looking for something with these numbers, and want something straight, take a look at the gstar Hawkeye or an FD (has a nuance of extra fade).  Put more power on them and they'll give you slight turn and still have some dependable fade.  Or a Maul from Lat64 for more and effortless turn, good glide and some fade back.  There's also the new Stig 6 5 -2 1 which actually gives you that -2 1 at a lower armspeed.  And if you're a beginner struggling to throw a Leopard at speed 6, try the Mana (5 5 -2 1), also true to it's numbers and with unsuspected glide and distance.

This is the first review I've bothered to write on a disc because the drift is just that good. I originally happened upon this disc when I was helping a friend new to the sport build out their first bag, and they immediately loved the disc. After the round I was curious and asked if I could toss it on the field we were walking through and the first throw I took with it was enough for me to see how much I needed one in my bag.

To be clear, I throw exclusively forehand, so bear this in mind as you consider what weight to assign my opinion of this disc. For context, at best my drives are going about 480 feet but the drift cant handle the torque required for that distance forehand; I'd say I can achieve about 360 before the torque turns it over and prevents it from fading back enough, even when released with a significant hyzer. For a dead straight drive I find that it's best to split grip the disc (stacked grips and power grips are too much for it) and release it with a bit of hyzer (about 8:00 to 8:30 if you were to use clock hands to describe the release angle) for it to flip up into a slight anhyzer and then eventually back again. What makes this disc so good are two things:

    1. Extremely high glide, as I said earlier I can't really throw this disc for max distance but the point of this disc I'd argue isn't to be crushed as far as you can, it's to go maybe 2/3 of your max distance with very little effort, allowing you to focus more on touch and control while still pushing out good distance.

    2. It's the most shapeable disc I've ever thrown. What I mean by this is that the Drift's flight path is extremely malleable and you command a great deal of agency over it. The drift allows you more authority over what it does than most discs would, it's a bit of a blank slate honestly. The flight characteristics are so non-abrasive that if you want it to hold its anhyzer turn forever, you can do that, and if you want the opposite that's also possible. The degree of variance achievable by adjusting the torque and angle you afford the disc is by a notable margin superior to most other discs I've thrown.

The first round I ever played with it in my bag was at Oak Grove, a beautiful course but unfortunately a long enough ways away that I don't get to go there very often. Anyways, The Drift instantly clicked with me and I used it for likely more than half of my tee shots, the Drift led me to 13 strokes under par which is enough to assure that this disc will never leave my bag lol.

P.S. If you want something else that more or less flies in a similar way, the "I-blend Centurion" and "Plasma Servo" are two discs that are pretty darn close.

    Disc - Proton Drift

Feel - The drift has a great feel in the hand. It has a small rim that all players should find comfortable. This disc has a decent dome and has a great feeling plastic. The proton plastic is nice and stiff but has great grip.

Flight - The drift is a great straight fairway driver. You can get some turn out of it but it is not super flippy at all. It reminds me a lot of the leopard3 with a different hand feel. It will hyzer flip a little but you can get it to hold a hyzer if need be or hold an anny. This disc is great for control in the woods and I feel that it glides incredibly well.

Overall - Great disc in great plastic if you are looking for a straight controllable fairway driver.

I have this disc in Proton 167g.  This disc has great turn and glide.  It was not flippy at all.  You can get a pretty stable flight out of it.  On backhand, I was able to throw it 330ft with good control.  This disc has good control and glide on forehand.  In this plastic,  I would recommend this disc to more advanced beginners, intermediates and above.  It would be too beefy for an absolute beginner.  Great disc overall!

    Proton 167g

I was gifted the Drift by my buddy who swore by this fairway driver for throwing exclusively forehand. With enough touch the Drift will glide for days, and is one of the few discs I can throw a forehand turnover reliably with. I find it a bit uncomfortable for backhand so it's spot in the bag is exclusively flip up forehands or big gentle flex shots off the tee. Proton plastic has held up incredibly well.

I can't give it 5 stars because personally it's a bit touchy, perhaps max weight would solve some issues but I find it very touchy, especially if there's any hint of wind.

This is truly an excellent offering from the MVP group of brands.  I took a chance on this disc because I lost all of my Innova Leopards over the past couple years and wanted to try something similar. Proton plastic feels like Champion and is just as durable. The flight is exactly what I wanted in an understable fairway driver. It feels like a Leopard type disc and flies like one too. The bottom of the wing has a smooth shape where as the Leopard has a slight angular shape. Nothing you really feel in the hand. The biggest difference is that the flashing from manufacturing is at an angle that does not drag on your hand like some other brands. This disc is ready to go out of the box. Also, mine has a gorgeous orange to green fade with shimmer and sparkles. The stamp is really cool too. Well done!

As a beginner that has basically played a couple of holes per day during cleaning breaks at work I have purchased several discs in an attempt to get something that I could be consistent with and start to actually learn on.  After several failed attempts I ended up with a Proton Drift because the numbers seemed to match what I should be using but mostly because I loved the graphics on it.  I am sure glad I did because it has been the most consistent disc I've used and has allowed me to start working on my throws.  I'm still working on distance but I generally have pretty good accuracy.

Now the interesting part, I was playing with another person I met on the course today and on hole 18 asked him to throw it because I wanted to see what the flight shape would be when thrown with more skill.  We were both shocked as he nailed his first ace ever on a 244ft par 3, bonus that it happened to be his birthday.

My favorite Streamline disc; possibly my favorite by the entire MVP group. I have one in proton and neutron, but prefer the proton for the flatter profile and gummy texture. An incredibly versatile disc. When thrown flat at 330-350' of power, shows a beautiful late turn with a balanced fade that will bring it back almost to the line it was thrown on. Works excellently for shorter hyzers, straight tailwind drives and long anhyzer shots. True to the numbers.

The Drift is a beautiful high quality disc that feels great in the hand and flies how I want it to. I think the numbers are spot on.

I love it for low ceiling shots. The lines are easy to shape and there are no problems gliding under the branches. I have this disc in proton plastic. I'd compare this disc to a Maverick with a bit more fade at the end.

In field shots I can crank up the speed on my throw and it sails just like the flight path says it will. Throwing this disc low and under speed gives it a nice low hyzer with a good chance of skipping at the end.

It will flip on sidearm shots for me so as long as I keep that in mind things are OK. It feels great in the hand for sidearms.

I think the real positives of this disc is how far it glides with minimal effort. With good torque and average speed, this disc flies.

I don't use this disc for long drives but sometimes use it in the fairway if I need a bit of shape.

I have both a proton and neutron drift. The proton is a little bit more stable than the neutron and I get a very good straight to slightly understable flight out of it. A great disc for hitting lines or the middle of a fairway at not much less than max distance. The Neutron Drift is a bit less stable, definitely more of a turnover driver. I think the quality and consistency of streamline and other MVP products is second to none. These discs fly great and are a great value. If you're looking for an entry level distance driver, or a slightly understable fairway, depending on power level, I'd start here.

I am a forehand player and have dedicated this year to learning backhand. I have several discs that are supposed to be great backhand discs. Some honorable mentions are the emac truth and the latitude 64 river. Even though I like how they fly, the Drift feels natural in the hand. I would say that it could just be the size of my hand, but I play with several other players who are all shapes and sizes, and they all love this disc. They prefer the Neutron plastic because of the sticky feel of the plastic. I would say both are great. I have seen several (chains hit) almost aces with this disc, more than any other. Even though I have tried several discs over the years, I have to say I would tell any new player just to buy the Streamline line and if not, at least this one. At the time of this review, the average star rating is very close to 5. I have to say, this is an accurate rating. If you get one, get 2. You never know when you could lose this or if they turn out to be like the big manufactors and are unable to make them all fly the same after thousands of pressings.
