The F Model OS is an overstable fairway driver from Prodigy's new Ace line. This is about as overstable as fairway drivers get with a turn of +2 and a fade of 4. This disc isn't as friendly to new players and would probably work best in the hands of someone with a bit of disc golf experience.

    F Model OS / DuraFlex / 174g / White

Picked one up from a local shop as I loved the feel of it and thought it would be a good utility disc for some fun shots. Originally, I was not sure if it was my disc or the plastic type, but it is nowhere near as overstable as advertised. Looking at the reviews, it appears as though others that have this disc in the duraflex plastic have experienced similar things.

Without much effort, I was seeing about 350-375', which is absurd for a +2 +4 distance driver. With a hyzer release, I am able to flip it to flat for a straight flight with a nice fade at the end. Releasing it on a slight hyzer to flat angle, it gets a nice turn followed by a decent fade and lands slightly left of straight. This is nowhere near the advertised +2 +4 of this disc (at least for my disc / this plastic type).

However, I do enjoy this disc as it does have a nice, slightly overstable flight that is consistent and reliable. It still gets a bit of use in my travel bag, but it did not fill the desired slot and will not make the main bag. Overall, the flight is good and I love the feel of it, but it is nowhere near what was expected.

Nowhere near as OS at the numbers suggest. With these numbers, if I rip a flat release forehand, it shouldn't flip up whatsoever, or very little, and then start fading quickly. In reality, the disc flipped up, held the turn for the majority of the flight, with a decent fade at the end. It did not fade back more than it turned. Not useless, but not going to be able to use this disc for what I was hoping for (longer firebird that will quickly flex out of a forced anhyzer...)

    • So I own both this and the FX-2 in the prodigy lineup and the FX-2 is way more over stable than this disc, so don't purchase this disc if your looking for something crazy over stable. However if your a medium-ish arm speed player this disc fly's  very straight and has a dependable fade at low speed. It seems as though prodigy should revert back to not posting flight numbers on the disc as if it didn't it might not be rated as poorly as the flight numbers are very misleading.

So firstly there is no way this disc has a +2 high speed turn. I'd say it has somewhere between a -0.5 and -1 high speed turn. The low speed fade is fairly accurate, if you give it enough height this thing will fight back hard at the end.

The new DuraFlex plastic was a little disappointing as one of my favorite thing about prodigy is the way the plastic feels. The DuraFlex plastic feels like a slightly stiffer less grippy Star plastic.

I was really hoping this disc was going to be a nice headwind fighting disc, but this is not that disc.

    Not stable enough.

Prodigy made a bold claim with the flight numbers on this disc.  4 fade implies Firebird-level stability.  Unfortunately this is a promise that was not kept.  I have decent arm speed but not huge power - I throw 400 on a good day.

My first throw with this disc brand new out of the box? I threw it on mild hyzer at about 80% power and it flipped over and flexed out.  It had really good glide and the throw went for really good distance, but this disc isn't nearly as stable as advertised (just like the F Model S, which is actually pretty understable).

Maybe this is an issue with the Duraflex plastic not being as stable in production as it is in testing? I'm not sure - it seems like most of these Ace Line discs do not meet their promise of stability in practice.  I still think this is a good neutral fairway driver with a lot of glide - but DO NOT expect anything close to Firebird stability out of it.

True to the numbers with a unique flight...how is up against the H1v2?
