I recently got a D Model S in a player’s pack and I have to say I don’t know why it’s not more popular. In the few weeks I’ve had it I already bought a 2nd to go with it.

The first is in the base grip plastic and I absolutely love how grippy it is. It also seems a bit more durable than typical base plastic. I don’t agree with the flight numbers though. I would say it started as 11/6/-1/2. After a few weeks of break in it’s more like an 11/6/-2/2. (I say 11 speed as it only has an 21.5mm rim width and it is shaped nearly identical to my Proton Trace.)

The second one I got is Duraflex and it feels like a slightly firmer Star. It’s parting line height is also about .5mm higher than the base grip one. I would rate it at a 11/6/-1/2.5. I haven’t had it long enough to get serious break-in yet.

Both discs I have thrown at max power on hyzerflips ranging from 400-475ft. They always flip a little past flat and gently hook back up in the end. They also do great when thrown flat in the 325-375ft range.

Oh, this is at 4500ft elevation YMMV.

First off, I enjoy the base plastic. It is nice and grippy and reminds me of prime plastic from dynamic discs. I haven't noticed too much wear and tear yet but I have only used the disc for about a month. My disc was pretty flat and fit comfortably into my forehand grip. The disc is nice and stable, however, take this with a grain of salt as I do live at high elevation so everything flies a bit more overstable. The flight is very similar to my beat in AJ destroyer. Nice stability but still has the glide to get down the fairway. I really enjoy this disc for my stable forehand shots. I would not recommend this disc to anyone who doesn't have a decent arm as it is a wide rim driver. Overall very nice and a great budget option for a workhorse distance driver.

172g BaseGrip Ace Line.  There are better base plastics (Dynamic Discs and Viking Discs) and worse base plastics (Innova and Discmania).  It is getting banged up and the rim is starting to bend.  So far, it still flies OK (amazingly).  This is not a great beginner disc, but one that can be incorporated into your bag after some practice.  It is consistent and dependable.  I will be purchasing this disc in a better plastic.  It's not my personal favorite, but a friend who borrows my discs makes good use of it and throws it well.  It flies straight and will fade, so it's a good choice when you have minimal space or the basket is off to the left (for RHBH throws).  This is one of the few overstable discs that I have found that beginners can throw reasonably well (Westside Sorcerer, Innova Wraith, and Dynamic Discs Tresspass all work, but they will have high speed turn as you develop release speed).  I recommend this disc.

I can throw this disc a lot further than the cheap one I got in a starter set.  Gets good distance and is pretty controllable.  Feels nice in my hand.

This is probably the best base plastic polymer I've ever used and felt in a disc golf disc. It flew very straight with a touch of fade for me and got an ace with it 3rd time throwing it!

The D Model S is a nice distance driver with reliable fade at the end. I wouldn't peg it as too overstable for my intermediate arm, but perhaps not quite my max distance disc. The Base Grip plastic is actually pretty good for a base plastic, it took a beating pretty well. I'd probably prefer something more premium for driving, but in the snow, the grip actually came in handy.

The disc feels pretty nice in the hand, the rim isn't too thick for me, definitely not quite as thick as some speed 13s out there. Overall, a pretty good distance driver that will always come back at the end for an intermediate player.

I just finished 3 rounds using only the ACE discs. The driver is solid. Super glidey, super straight, and very controllable. The plastic held up pretty well. There is some minor dentage from several tree hits, but overall, the ACE line is fantastic.

For the price, you can't beat the value of the new Prodigy Ace Line Base Grip plastic. This is an excellent feeling plastic with moderate durability at a base plastic price. If you're looking for a stable flying distance driver with a great feel for winter disc golf, try the D Model S.
