The Alpha is the first disc released by Mint Discs. It is a versatile fairway driver that works for a variety of different situations. This is a true power fairway driver designed to go straight without turning over and then finishing with a reliable fade. This disc is stable enough that it can fight headwinds, but not so overstable that it can't be thrown by newer disc golfers.

This is an incredible utility disc. I have multiple in the eternal plastic. It's torque resistant with reliable fade for hyzer shots, and it's stable enough for forehands as well. It's also great for flat to hyzer shots, and forced S shapes. I've played with hundreds of discs, and this is the disc I throw the most.

Reliably stable fairway driver. Probably closer to a 9-speed in my opinion, due to slightly wider rim width. Great in a headwind, or if you want a predictable hyzer. Good for the 280-320ft range.

Review is for the Eternal Alpha (165g)

It is worth mentioning that early discs in the Mint lineup tend to vary based on run, color, and plastic type. My particular Alpha is a purple rimmed ET-AL04-18 serial number. To find the Alpha right for you I'd recommend reading through Mint's website as they discuss what to look for in terms of stability based on run.

The Eternal Alpha was exactly what I hoped it would be, moderately overstable fairway. I've been throwing this disc for around 5 months and it has become my go-to Fairway. Eternal plastic has a great feel to it and is extremely durable, surviving many tree encounters with little to no signs of scuffing.

In terms of flight, this disc will continue straight for a long while before consistently fading at the end. What I like about the Alpha compared to other discs with similar flight numbers (Thunderbird, etc.) is that it can handle additional power or torque without flipping over. Where a Thunderbird was flipping in the wind, my Alpha stayed consistent. Additionally, with the right angle it is capable of some exciting flare skips off the ground. Given its consistent resistance to turn, I bumped it's rating up to a +0.5 (keep in mind that other runs of Alpha may turn for you or carry straighter). Off the tee, I'm enjoying this disc for holes that either call for some ground play or a natural hyzer flight. When thrown on anhyzer the Alpha has been able to consistently fight out of the angle and finishes straight towards the original line.

Recently I've been adding this disc into my rounds on FH for shots that don't quite require the overstability of a Raptor/Firebird. On FH, the Alpha is similarly consistent penetrating straight before finishing with a predictable 2 to 2.25 fade at the end of flight. It has held up to some overturning of my wrist and fights well out of a light anhyzer on FH.

Overall, a wonderful disc and a great introduction to the Mint lineup if you can track one down. As mentioned earlier, different runs or Alphas and different flat/domey Alphas will fly differently. If you end up loving the Alpha, one potential drawback would be needing to track down a backup with similar characteristics. Nevertheless, it's well worth trying out as a consistent flyer in your Fairway lineups.

I bought this disc to support a Texas company and it immediately became my most reliable and most used disc.  It comes out perfectly almost every time. Thrown flat it will fade as advertised and skip for a little more. I love this disc so much I will be their others.

Once I discovered the Alpha while at a Texarkana tournament a couple years back, I have not needed any other fairway drivers. I use 3 Blue 167g 2nd Run Eternal Alphas and 1 172g Nocturnal Alpha for all my fairway shots. All of the 2nd runs cover any fairway shot from turnovers, straight shots that land straight, straight shots that hyzer out and carry, and gentle hyzers. The Mint Disc brand has done an excellent job so far with these drivers, as they fly like the perfect middle ground between TL3s and Teebird3s. They are comfortable to forehand for straight shots in the woods, and my most under-stable also is good for quick flip rollers.

I was really excited to try on Mint Discs first offering, the Alpha, as I read so many great things about the disc. I was able to try out the disc in Eternal plastic, and this plastic felt great in hand. It was nice a durable, but also grippy. The disc has a little wider rim than I was expecting, but it was still comfortable. The flight was super straight with a nice strong fade at the end. Even when given quite a bit of power, this disc just held that straight line. It reminded me a lot in flight of older Teebirds. I haven't had a chance to try this disc in its other plastics, but I do know that they are supposed to have different flight characteristics. That would be one thing to be aware of if you are wanting to try this disc out. This is a great disc, and I am looking forward to other releases from Mint Discs.

Eternal 174g. This disc is an excellent first release from Mint Discs. Really fun, teebird like disc in better plastic. It didn't beat out my eMac truth simply because I prefer the tweener mid-range rim, but I can see this being a workhorse fairway driver in a lot of people's bags.

The Alpha is a do-it-all fairway driver that everyone should try. The feel of the rim is perfect, with good depth to provide a solid grip along with a 2.0 cm width that strikes a balance between comfort and distance potential. Before getting my first Alpha, I was a big fan of the PD in different plastics, along with the TD and CD2 to complement it. All are great discs, but what makes the Alpha so amazing it that it took the place of all 3 molds without skipping a beat. Mint Discs actually goes out of their way to publish data on how each run of Alphas has been shown to fly, according to plastic, weight, and color. I don't know where the variations come from, and honestly the guys and Mint don't claim to either. But the bottom line is this: different Alphas have different flight patterns, and you can use this to your advantage to cover a range of shots. Currently, I bag the 4 different Alphas and they cover 90% of fairway shots that I throw. My purple Apex even managed to kick the FDs out of my bag, something I literally never saw happening! All in all, I can't recommend the Alpha enough. Everyone can find one that suits their needs on the course, and the fact that they are from here in Austin, TX just puts a cherry on top of the delicious cake. Be sure to check out the Mint website to get updated flight numbers each run of plastic.

Great disc with amazing plastic.  I've played mountain courses with this and it takes the beatings very well.

Great for hyzer shots as well.  Love that Mint has serial numbers on their discs, I just wish they would come out with more discs.

love this thing. Mine is in candy pink and its beautiful. I have an Apex Purple and Pearly Pink in my cart right now. Keep in mind color and plastic makes a difference. Mint discs has a nice flight numbers by plastic and color chart on their blog.

I don't want to give my true thoughts because I don't want you all to buy out all of these discs from me.  This might be the best disc I have ever thrown.  No exaggeration.  The feel in the hand is fantastic.  The flight is beauty in motion.  This flies straight, long and has a reliable fade. Everything you want in a disc.  What is even better is the company lists the different plastic types and colors so you can handpick the exact flight you want.  And I can say from experience their chart is spot on.  I own several of these in different plastics and colors.  The Eternal plastic is firm and gripping, the Apex is a bit softer (my favorite) and the Sublime is gummy- closest comparison would be gstar.

I LOVE this disc! I've found myself throwing more accurate shots with it than any other 7 or 8 speed driver. When thrown hard, it'll hold straight for some time before dumping off left. When thrown with a little anny it'll hold it for a while, but dump off left. If you want a perfect hyzer, you've got that too! This disc is very workable and you don't have to worry about it flipping over unless you force it to.

I already aced a 350 foot hole with this disc! So it can go the distance too! It was a big hyzer throw. The disc feels great in the hand, the rim is little smaller and very comfortable to hold.

The plastics feel amazing, pretty similar to other brand's premium plastics. I realy like the sublime plastic, but they are all awesome.

Give this a shot if you need a new fairway or to improve your accuracy!

Picked one up at a tournament.  First Throw I love the disc.  Very predictable.  It handled full power throws no problem, stayed straight until that nice little bit at the end.  It will definately have a place in my bag.

I've been looking for a Innova Teebird replacement/superior for awhile now and I got to test throw the Mint Eternal Alpha.

Specifically with feel- my disc is 174g, but it actually feels lighter. The weight distribution is very nice. The rim depth and width are really comfortable as well and feel suitable for me throwing both BH+FH. It also has a slight amount of dome, which helps stability

As for flight- it is very predictable! You can manipulate your flight path and end up exactly where you want it. If thrown on a deep hyzer, the disc will flip up a bit and maintain a soft hyzer line. With a small bit of hyzer it flips up to straight on a lazer line for wherever you aimed. Even if I throw as hard as I can with the disc flat, the disc's turn makes it go just barely to the right (RHBH) and fades perfectly back to straight. The fade is very predictable and minimal, which I rely on for a fairway driver. If you're an experienced thrower, this disc can behave have (-0.5) turn; however, unless you throw on a too low anhyzer it will flatten out with some distance and not turn over

In a tailwind, I was able to throw about 360-375ft on a semi high throw. In a headwind I was able to throw about 340 with a lazer hyzer flip to dead straight. It has a bit less glide than the Teebird simply by ratings, but overall I like the way it handles, flies and feels better.

New company, great ownership. Definitely give this disc a huck
