A Banshee By Any Other Name

For those who know their disc history, the original EXP1 from Millennium was just a Banshee in Pro plastic. Over the years it changed a little, but it was always a Banshee variant. This was all well and good until Innova stopped running the Banshee in anything other than DX and Millenium stopped running EXP1s all together.

So now we have the EXP-X! It's the same rim as the Eagle-X, which is not the same rim as the Banshee. Mine is also quite domey(though Banshees were never flat) but that feels surprisingly great in the hand. How does it fly? Pretty much like a Banshee. You can get it to turn, but it sure doesnt want to. Great wind fighter. It handles forehand and backhand very well, and its not so overstable that it will start to hook up right out of the hand.

I hope that Millenium continues to make these, or that a company that uses Innova parts will utilize the Banshee mold. But if you're already throwing Eagle-Xs, this disc may be reduntant.

    Plastic: Quantum Luster

    Weight: 175g

Feel: My EXP-X has a slight dome that flattens as it gets to the center, but it is still comfortable for forehand and backhand grips.  Quantum Luster feels mostly like Champion or C-Line, but with a tad more give and softness.  The rim is small but definitely feels like a Speed 7 or 8, and is a great size for most hand sizes.

Flight: I'm not sure what they mean by a +1 turn, I'd say it's more like 0 or -0.5, as I consider a positive turn like the Stego, which gets more OS the harder it's thrown.  That being said, I actually quite like this disc for shots that need to fight the wind, but an OS just can't get the distance.  Into a strong headwind this disc will turnover slightly, but never for more than a moment before fading back hard left.

Conclusion: Certainly not the super OS meathook I got it for, but it having a slight turn into strong headwinds actually allows it to get more distance than a firebird or something similar.  A very workable OS Fairway that will be reliable but also try to get you some distance while it's at it.

Sidenote: I would like to try this disc flat-top, as I feel the decent dome of it is contributing to its slight turn.  Being a flat-top could also allow for a more comfortable grip fore/backhand.

I took calipers to the EXP-X and it is, indeed, the exact dimensions of an Eagle-X. If you are looking for an extra over-stable Eagle-X, this is definitely the disc you want to pick up. Not much glide, flat topped and can handle massive amounts of torque. It's fantastic for forehand.

Another beautiful disc from Millennium.  Mine is max weight and nearly flat-topped.  Feels unsurprisingly like a flat-topped Eagle in hand... very good that is.  At max power there is zero turn and a hard, late, fade.  Very close to the flight chart here.  Range was excellent and exceeded my expectations but this is not a glidey disc.  On frozen ground it skipped hard and far left on low RHBNH throws.  Powered down it is capable of epic flex shots.  I compare it to a faster Resistor and that is the disc it displaced from my main bag.
