This is THE choice for overstable distance drivers. It's made in the arguably best plastic in the game, and is extremely comfortable in the hand, especially for a 13 speed disc. Considering it's general overstability, this disc goes FAR! It's also worth noting that this disc has more of a pushing fade, combined with great torque resistance. So if you're looking for a utility type distance driver, this isn't it. But if you want something remarkable comfortable, and that will hold up in any wind, this is THE choice!

This Royal Grand plastic is AMAZING. Only have a few rounds with this so far but the flight is super consistent in all types of wind, and still has a dependable fade without "dumping" hard out of the flight. I bag this next to a Raider, and the Raider has a touch more glide to it, especially with some flex. The Rive will flex out a little faster than a Raider, but both flights are very similar. I'd snag one of these over hunting for a standard Destroyer.

This disc is a great distance driver. It is a touch less stable than advertised and that is the main reason it only gets four stars. The best thing about real any Royal Grand disc is how it feels in the hand. They all feel amazing and that is why it gets so many stars despite being an expensive disc.

To dive further into the flight of the disc, it is great for straight distance drives out of the box. It can beat into a max distance driver. They are decently consistent in wind. For a comparison I would say like a DD3 or slightly less stable nuke.

I have to be honest. There are just as good if not better discs at half the price, im not sure why the price is so high for these. Emperor, Czar, and DD3 all accomplish the same flight with different levels of finish.

Great disc! The royal plastic does beat in quickly, but with this disc I think that is okay as it is still workeable. It doesn't stay as stable as it comes initially, but I think it is as good as your raider/destroyer slot. The royal feels and looks great, but I can't tell much of a difference between the standard gold line/fuzion plastic.

As an intermediate thrower, I would recommend not getting this if you're new to the game. It definitely takes some arm speed to get a good flight out of this. I bought this disc specifically as an overstable disc and it truly fits that role. Over time this disc has "flattened out" to a straight to hyzer disc, but has kept that consistent and strong fade that I was looking for. The Grand plastic is honestly THE BEST Plastic in existence! stiff, yet grippy, and incredibly durable! You will not be disappointed!

Out of the box this disc was flying perfectly as intended, but over time I get a little turn with it and now its turned into almost a max distance flat to hyzer disc. I would highly recommend for players with a faster arm speed.

This disc is not as overstable as advertised. I would give it a -.5 turn and 2 fade. This disc was way flippier than I imagined when brand new, not what I was expecting. But I should have known as Lat64 is very generous with how overstable a disc is.

With that said the Royal Grand plastic is amazing and feels great. And the disc fits perfectly in the hand. With the right release angle, slight hyzer, this disc will flip to flat, maybe even turn right (RHBH), and then have a small fade at the end.

This disc can get over powered and turn over all the way and never come back. BEWARE.

Disc - 174 Royal Grand Rive

Feel - The feel of all the royal series is incredible. There is no flashing and it has an awesome even dome that feels great for backhand and forehand.

Flight - The rive is great distance driver. It is fairly stable, but will show a bit of turn but always fades out. The best thing about the rive is how consistent it is. Many people know how inconsistent other drivers can, and that is true of every brand, but the rive seems to be one of the most consistent molds. I hope that this continues as there is more and more runs of this disc. Otherwise, the rive flies just like a destroyer, raider, name other brands semi overstable distance driver.

Overall - Really good disc but I feel that you can get a similar disc for half the price.

What can be said that hasn't already been said by everyone else? The Rive along with all of the other Grand series of discs has unparalleled grip and feel. It just feels good to hold and throw. I will say that it does fly a bit more overstable than I expected, but I am working on my form and timing, and am hoping to make this my go-to driver over the next year. We'll see how that progress comes along.

It will however stay in my bag, as it is a great disc for a headwind or when you need a bit more stability rather than turn and forward finish. If you already bag a destroyer, let me ask, "Why?" Make the swtich to the Rive. It's far superior!

The Rive is an absolute workhorse for forehand players with a minimum of 300ft of distance. Lower than that and you may find it to be a bit too much beef for you. I have it in Stock stamp, the other runs may be a bit different in stability.

This is also great as a backhand headwind disc, high-fade shots, and making it behave like an absolute bomber by intentionally curling up to put extra spin on it.

When I bought this I expected it to be too overstable for me, but it is a surprisingly workable disc for intermediate players.

This has become probably my favorite distance driver. It is relatively overstable to start off, but still very workable before it beats in to a nice, max distance-type disc. The Royal plastic is the best feeling plastic on the market IMO, but it does beat in relatively quickly, which is why I gave it 4 stars.

Overall, I very much recommend this disc/ plastic type to mostly anyone.

Love the Rive. Most people know the Destroyer and this disc is like a Destroyer but with just a bit longer push straight and a more gentle fade right (less hard dump at the end). That is how the local expert at the disc golf shop described it to me and I doubted him, but gave it a shot anyway. It was exactly that for me. When I throw this forehand it is pretty torque resistant though not quite like a Firebird or a other very overstable discs. I get slightly more distance with this than a Destroyer or a Fuzion Defender. Great feel in your hand forehand or backhand. Nice plastic. Me personally, of the 4 Rive's I've thrown, I do not think it is quite as overstable as it's flight numbers suggest. If you forehand with a bit too much torque, and are looking for a disc that can hold up to that but still provides distance, this could be hitting a nice sweet spot for you (as it does for me).

First, lets address some false/misleading advertising :(

    • "The days of sharp flashing are gone." - The disc had plenty of flashing on it - Actually maybe the most of 5 drivers I bought in my last order.
    • I live at 6,000 feet where discs fly more overstable and this disc is not nearly as overstable as the numbers indicate. Others who have this disc have also mentioned this. The fade is solid and consistent, but if you're looking for a very overstable disc this is not it.

Disc seems great from my first impression otherwise. Worthy of consideration to be a work horse driver for someone throwing 400+ ft.

It almost doesn't make sense how far this disc goes for how stable it is. A brand new Rive goes as far as my more neutral or flippy distance drivers (Zeus, Hades, etc) without ever getting right of flat. Once it beats in to have a little turn, this thing is the only disc I have that consistently gets more distance than the rest of my discs.

I think a lot of reviews make claims about certain discs magically going farther than others, and it's easy to read those as over-hype or exaggeration. The Rive is different. The combination of glide and stability that the Rive has is unlike any disc I've ever thrown before.

With 400' of power a new Rive will ride on a straight line with no turn to a slow, sweeping fade. No hard crash.

Try one. It's worth the price tag.

Absolutely love the Rive, but it was not exactly what I expected. It is the overstable driver that I wanted, but the glide allows me to get much more distance than I anticipated. I expected a solid dump near the end of the flight, but that was not the case. It stays in the air longer than I expect and then fades out, as opposed to dumping out. Due to the stability, I am able to throw it flat or anny if I want to force flex it some, but it always comes back. I get zero turn on a flat throw and it still stays up for a while. I don't yet have the FH arm for it, but love it backhand for my overstable driver.

Love the Grand plastic as well. It compliments the Grace and I hope it has solid durability. Time will tell. Very few discs do I know almost immediately that it is going in my bag and staying - this was one of them. Numbers are fair, glide might be pushing 6 and fade doesn't feel as extreme as I was anticipating.

This is one of the most unbelievable discs I have ever thrown. For reference, I max out around 340' both forehand and backhand. This disc goes as far as any other disc I've ever thrown, except it does it with minimal turn as opposed to a huge S-shaped flight that requires huge airspace. On forehands I can throw this hard and flat and I might get the slightest turn out of it, but it is mostly just straight for a long time and then finishes with a pushing fade. It is far and away the glidiest overstable disc I've ever thrown. It is hard to wrap your head around, even after you throw it and witness it firsthand. My friend and I both own Rives and we both agreed this deserves a glide rating of 6.

The plastic is perhaps the best I've ever felt. The best I can describe it is a more durable ESP. Great grip and amazing manufacturing quality. The sticker price may look high but I assure you, this disc is the real deal. There is not another disc on the market that does what this disc does, and the plastic ensures it will do its thing for a long time.

Not as overstable as the flight numbers would make you think and the rim is more like a Destroyer than a Nuke. These bomb with that long sweeping fade not a dump. Into a headwind they will get some turn.

This distance driver is very handy for me. I like to throw it yet as it is a driver which I have a lot of control over. Distance wise, I can throw it close to 300-400 feet. I may rarely get over it. I feel that I don’t have to put to push effort over this disc to get the flight which I want. I say that this distance driver is not for all beginners. This is because distance drivers just require too much effort for players who have not been practicing throwing a disc for long. I do recommend this disc to intermediate players and above as it does give you the results which you may want. Some people may say that this disc is just used for meat hooks, but I say that it is not. This distance fights the wind well. I can trust it to not be taken over by it too much. I must say though, the plastic is a little tacky and does lose grip when wet. It also gets a little flippy when in hot weather, so I say that you may like a harder plastic. I find that this distance driver has helped me over the months to actually learn how to work a disc. Sometimes I feel that playing disc golf means that I have to adjust my game so it can fit the disc. It is partially true, yet I find that when I use this disc it can actually have good effects on my form. It doesn’t require me to lower my body in any way and I know that I can have my regular form without it getting disturbed. I find that this disc is very useful on the course and I can use it in difficult situations and on some tee-shots. Overall, I must say that this disc is a very good disc. It may be the disc for you, so I recommend that you that you try it out. It definitely might fit in my bag and I find that the more practice makes me better when using this disc. Discs like these take time for them to fit well and be understood by you. When I first threw this disc I threw it about 250 feet and it was all hyzer. This disc may be for you so give it a rip and see the results.

I first saw the Rive at the DDO when one of the guys on my card was throwing it. I didn't realize that the Rive was a thing, and so when he pulled the "River" out of his bag for a forehand throw into a headwind I thought, "what an idiot." Well, that River he was throwing didn't turn over, and he ended up parking his throw. While what I thought I saw was the most most overstable River in the world was actually missing a letter R at the end.

The Latitide 64 Rive is a fantastic disc. If you haven't watched the video, or learned about the new Latitude 64 Royal line, it uses "NexEdge" and "NexFeel" technologies to provide a buttery smooth feel. Upon examining the Rive, you can tell that the manufacturing procedures are very fine and that the quality of the machines used in production of these discs is superior to the traditional old school ones most companies use. These discs have no sign of flashing or manual refining.

I absolutely love the feel of the Rive as a forehand distance driver. It has a relatively flat top and comes out of my hand really smoothly. After testing it out today, I like this disc so much I'm going to be taking it with me to my tournament this weekend.

This is definitely an overstable disc, it's too overstable for me to get much distance out of on backhand throws, but I wouldn't give it as much end of flight fade as the flight ratings indicate. When thrown low and level the Rive doesn't fade much at all, and when thrown on an anhyzer angle it takes some time before eventually coming out of the turning motion.

Overall, this is a super quality disc and if you're looking for a smooth forehand release, I highly recommend.

Simply put, this disc looks, feels, and performs like a slightly faster, slightly more overstable Destroyer (or DD Raider); but the plastic is light years better than anything I've seen come from Innova or the opto and gold line plastics coming from Sweden. The plastic is a little softer than L64's Opto and Gold line hybrid plastic, but not as gummy as Frost line or Gstar is; and it's very grippy but not so tacky to the point where it would cause you to release the disc a millisecond late and pull your shot right (RHBH).

The most unique attribute I have noticed with this disc though is it's ability to nearly match the distance of my max distance drivers that make a huge "S" shape, but this disc just slightly goes to flat and then holds hyzer for the majority of the flight. Up until I saw the first flight of this disc land, I had a feeling that this disc would fly a little further than a fairway for me because it is overstable; but I was very surprised when I saw it was out in the field just a little shorter than my max distance drivers. However, this is nothing new from L64, one of the Opto X Flows I throw from time to time has this same trait. I don't know exactly what I'd call this trait, but I wouldn't call it more than a 5 glide for the Rive though. Something just keeps the disc in the air longer than you would expect for an overstable driver.

In terms of the mold itself, nothing groundbreaking since all companies have a disc in this slot, and the "Next feel" rim technology (aka trimming the flash off of the disc) feels like a gimmick. Don't get me wrong, the flash on all of the Rives I received was very minimal, but a flashing was still there. It also doesn't help that I've had a ton of discs come from the L64 factory with absolutely no flashing prior to the whole "Next feel" technology was marketed, so I am still skeptical of it. However, in my opinion the plastic it's molded in has the potential to be a game changer because it does feel that awesome.

I have the prototype rive from the royal box, but the plastic should be the same. These things bomb, but aren't as overstable as the numbers might suggest. I found that mine will flip up and hold on a hard shot, before fading back very predictably.
