Ever since I lost my Orc I've been eyeing this disc. And a couple of months ago I got one. Right off the bat I was throwing it every round and leaning on for a max distance hyzer flip. Every long hole was a "MusGet" (#Coined By Simon lizotte) then all of the sudden it started to turn and never come back, making it a left to right far backhand shot. By all means its a great disc and I still love and I will still bag it, I just need some extra work with it to get it back to its full potential.

I received my Opto Musket in a mystery box. I had never used or even heard of the disc before receiving it, but after a few rounds I think it not only has a place in my bag but might already be one of my favorite control drivers. I can consistently get it to fly about 20 ft further than my Champion Thunderbird and nearly as far as my Star Wraith, with controlled throws out to about 370 ft and good rips close to 400. I have never met a disc more true to its flight numbers right out of the box, and the feel of the disc is really great in my pretty big hands. I would recommend this disc to anyone who wants a dead straight control driver with a slight, reliable fade at the end.

I received the Musket from a Trilogy Challenge

The Musket makes a good step up from the Leopard and its clones. My typical distance is 225-275. I have typically avoided any disc over speed 7. The Musket changed that for me. Excluding the occasional bad release, the disc flies dead straight with perhaps a slight turn and gentle fade. The disc is not a headwind fighter even at sub300 arm speed.

As arm speed and technique improves, the Musket is a go to driver and a great offering from Latitude 64.

This is my go to disc when I have a low ceiling, but need to go 375+. It is the perfect compliment to the Draco/Firebird/Felon. It will hold lines straighter and have a softer finish.

This is probably my favorite driver ever! I may be a little biased since I used this as my first distance/control driver, but it was an incredible find! I have 2 in my bag, one newer and more stable and one older and beat in, making it flippy. even though it is a 10 speed, I can still crush this as far as my other drivers!

I wont lie, I bought it because of the game Disc Golf Valley. I thought to myself wow it flies straight in the game sure it flies like that in real life. Right out of the box it didn't disappoint. I thought the .5 turn was a gimmick, but sure enough when thrown flat it will turn over just a little bit before finishing with a nice small fade back to the left. The disc is easy distance and has become my go to stable driver.

I picked this up in Retro plastic while on vacation to have a driver to play with. I throw primarily forehand, with between 300-350 ft of distance.

This disc is pretty flat, and has a great feel in hand for a flick (or backhand for that matter), it felt very comfortable and familiar, like a Roc. The Retro plastic was better than expected, I would say on a level with DX, maybe slightly harder.

For my current arm strength, the 10 speed seems about perfect. Flew pretty close to what it says it's supposed to. Very straight, like you're shooting a musket. Pulled off all the shots I wanted to. Beat in really nicely, makes me want to cycle it but it's hard to find these right now in Retro. Highly recommend it for what it is.

I purchased the opto red at 176g. It goes straight, glides well, overall a solidly stable disc. First day I threw it, it behaved as advertised. If you do throw it off at anything but a flat angle you can expect some very minor fade but it's usually very negligible. I would suggest this disc for beginners 10/10 times as a good distance driver to start with.

I was worried for a bit there. I have had my disappointments with Latitude 64, it seems as though they have a fifty fifty chance of getting the stats or disc (sometimes both) very, very wrong. The opposite being when they really nail it with a disc. This, I'm very relieved to say, is the latter. I should add a qualifier before I go on, I truly believe that speed 10's are still fairway drivers, I don't think we're done finding the upper limits to molding discs and that the Raketen and Missilen were just the beginning. This, then, fits the demands and specifications of a golfer home from a tournament seeking a slightly more predictable Thunder or Firebird from Innova. Yes, more predictable. Whereas where Latitude 64 has been disappointing as I mentioned (Don't get me started on the Saint or River Pro) the Musket really buttons down a precise line and only fades at the very, very end of the flight. The disc is also tricky to turn over, at least in my experience. That was very strange for me, as normally a stable driver at least has this in it's back pocket. That's alright, though. Be careful with it and you'll do your best Kevin Jones goes-falling-down-but-still-aces-it-because-he-can't-be-bothered impression.

PROS: With a bit of care and focus, can be lazer straight.

CONS: I am very happy to say that I can't think of any.

My favorite straight line driver. Perfect for long tunnel shots. Throw easy and smooth and the disc will stay flat with a slight fade at the end. Throw hard enough and you can get a bit of turn out of it. perfect for hyzer flips to maximize the range of your tunnel shots. Just be aware that because the fade is so slight, slight hyzers will carry left (for righty backhand) longer than expected.

I have spent an inordinate amount of time learning disc golf during the summer of this social distanced summer.  I threw my first disc in the end of June and according to my app I’ve played 23 rounds and about that many field sessions in two months.  So with that being said this is truly a beginner’s review.

Opto Musket 173g - This was my first 10 speed disc.  I had a 14 speed Ballista Pro because, you know, uneducated purchasing and not understanding the importance of form.  Now that I’ve done nothing but play all summer this is my second most reliable disc behind my Buzzz OS.  I know it’s going to go 300-325 with a soft lefthand (RHBH thrower) finish when I throw with a smooth (90% power) form throw.  This was the disc that I mastered a hyzer flip with.  This is my disc for powered down 250ft tunnel shots.  I feel more confident with this disc than my Pioneer or Explorer.  The ratings for me feel accurate, maybe my disc is a touch more understable, could be the plastic.  I can’t state how confident this disc makes me feel.  If you are looking for the control part of a control driver look no further.

The musket was a really good stable tweener distance driver for me. It has the speed kind of in between a fairway and a distance driver which helps add distance to your fairways but does not require the same armspeed to get a distance driver far. I really like the stable flight out of the musket. It would fly straight with very little high speed turn for most of the flight and then slowly start to stable up and fade out of it at the end. I was able to throw flex lines really nicely with this disc because it will hold the angle for a while before flexing out and getting to the ground with some nice distance. You can throw straight shots really nice that you want to finish sorta hard, and you can throw really nice hyzers with this disc. If you are throwing stable fairway drivers and find that you need a little extra distance the musket would be a great disc to try out and to test. It is more suitable for slower armspeed players than a faster speed distance driver and it flies really nice. For new players this disc will most likely be more stable than you can handle so I would not get a Musket until you have developed a nice form with some power. I absolutely love opto plastic and it just makes this disc all that much better.

I got this disc as a "throw-in" disc in a trade with a friend, so I threw this disc with little to no expectations. As a brand new disc the Musket flew so close to its flight stats right off the bat. Months later, as it has since become my go-to distance driver, it still flies those flight stats!

I'd say it has some turn to it for sure, but as someone who doesn't have a super strong arm like myself, this is such a great distance driver. It doesn't have a hard fade which is super nice for a distance driver for someone who can't throw 400-feet.

It is also great for forehand shots and will show your mistakes in your throwing angle on your forehand. Though I'm not a trilogy guy, I've loved that I've come across this disc.

First, I HAVE THIS DISC IN GOLD LINE!  Second, I am so between loving and not caring about this disc.  I loved this disc.  Until... Either my arm strength went up or Gold line plastic made this disc too flippy.  I recommend this disc for beginners, whose form is good.  My Musket in the beginning had a slight flip and a long left fade.  This disc did not feel good for forehands, however.  Unfortunately, that is a really bad thing for me.  My forehand is my strength.  This is a good disc for backhands, but for forehands, not so much.

Recently got the new Opto-x version of this disc. Opto-x looks about the same as Opto but is a slightly harder plastic. Both plastics have an amazing feel. My new opto-x is a 175, and it is a solid disc made for distance placement shots (325-400ft). I may be jumping the gun on this, as I have only played one round, but on a flex shot (completely flat to slight anhyzer release), this disc held a straight line, slight s-curve, into a steady (3-5mph)  headwind and still faded back perfectly. If thrown on a low flat line this disc will hit and park. Get it nose up and it becomes unpredictable. This disc was made for hitting tight lines, and is versatile enough to be predictable on different types of shots. Great hyzer lines, perfect distance placement shots. Don't let the speed fool you, this is not a distance driver. This is a fairway driver, that needs to be thrown at a high speed. It fits the gap between 7 speeds (teebird, river, exodus, explorer) and the distance drivers (speeds 9 and up). It is a slightly faster, slightly less stable thunderbird, in fact it feels very similar in the hand. I think advanced level players will love the lines they can hit with this disc. I think beginners would like this disc at first but would become frustrated with it over time. I think intermediate level players who are wanting to improve their game would really like this disc as it flies very similarly to a thunderbird. Despite being similar to the thunderbird, the musket is easier to flex, and holds up to a headwind better (depending on plastic type of the TB).

The Musket is a pretty neutral flying distance driver. It fits that slot right between fairway and max distance. I found it very reliable and controllable out to about 400'. Thrown flat at that distance it would turn just a bit before a decent late fade. I had little trouble learning to throw the Musket, and was quickly able to dial it in nicely.

The Musket reminds me a lot of Innova's Orc. A speed 10 driver with average glide and a little high speed turn. The Musket isn't overly glidey or floaty. I found that actually helped the disc as far as accuracy. It didn't seem to get pushed around much by wind. The Musket almost flies like a Longbowman, but 2 speeds faster. This mold seems built more for accuracy than glide or sheer distance.

I recommend the Musket. Its a nice flying disc that produces consistently good shots for me. Perfect for accurate drives just short of max distance range.

I got this from last year's trilogy challenge and at first glance, I was not impressed.  Fast forward to this spring (after more work on my form and moving farther from being a beginner) I love this disc!  I throw at 4700 feet so take that into account with my review.  To be clear, my musket is 164 grams, so not super beefy.  I throw it on a little hyzer to get it to flip up and away it goes.  I use the light one for tailwind drives and soft anhyzers.  This disc does not like headwinds.  I also have a musket in at 175 and I do not like the way it flies.  That could be just me, so I am not letting that effect the rating because I do really enjoy the 164.

I did not know what to make of this at the Trilogy Challenge, with my initial impression being that the Musket would not be stable enough for my needs.  After several weeks of field work, my take is that the stability of the Musket is best described as 'sneaky'.

If you need to reliably hit something 350-400 feet away with a straight flight, this is your disc.   If you need more stability than a Musket in your fairway distance driver for hyzer shots or to get around corners, I recommend the Getaway (domey and glidey) downwind, and the Fortress (shallow and overstable) upwind.  If you want more high speed turn, go with an Escape (slightly understable).

I have three Opto Muskets, one of them is metal flake, and NONE of them have ever been close to being meat hooks.

This disc is equally comfortable and capable for back and fore hand throws.  The rim width is typical of other 9 and 10 speed disks.  It is not too deep or too shallow.  The flight plate is 'just right', not flat or domey.   Maybe its utter 'averageness' is what makes it so good.

The Musket is very Point-and-Shoot: Slight flex, fantastic glide, forward penetrating fade, easy distance with very little worry.

    Great job Latitude!

Got this disc in max weight from a trilogy challenge and was really disappointed by it. I thought it would be a great middle-ground driver that could achieve reasonably long, straight distance but with great control. Mine has almost no glide, no turn, and doesn't skip at all once it hits the ground. I ended up getting 50-80 feet less distance pretty much every time I threw it. Not an awful disc but if you want a 10-ish speed meathook there are way better options. I would recommend in Innova champion orc, a Discmania C-line PD, or an Innova star thunderbird over the musket.

I got this disc from my Trilogy Challenge that was held earlier this year. I used this disc for a bit, but then put the disc away because I already had a bag filled with discs that I'm confident with. BUT that is something that has easily changed since then. As I practiced with this disc in a field I quickly realized that this disc is one that is needed in my and people's bags. The Musket was quite a bit less stable than I had originally thought, but that is the furthest thing from the truth. This disc allows for a confident full flight with a disc that brings about sneaky distance.

The rim on this disc is smaller than I thought initially and that makes it so comfortable to hold. The smaller rim doesn't slow this disc down because it definitely gets some major distance with incredible glide. I'd definitely recommend this disc to anybody who's starting to gain some distance, or anybody who needs a straight and long distance fairway driver.

This is a good disc! 175gram  great for 350 to 400ft.  Nice glide, stable enough to hold nice and straight with a decent fade at the end. with the glide and low fade it lands flat most of the time which is useful. It will turn some in the 375 to 400ft range. The one negative for me is 10mph headwind and above will cause the disc to turn significantly and isnt trusty. I expected it to hold up better. I have plenty of discs to use in the wind though.  The disc feels and flies great. It's perfect for all kinds of shots on the course. It has been in my bag since the challenge and shouldn't be leaving anytime soon.  The flight numbers are probably 9, 5.1, -0.9,2 .

During the Trilogy Challenge I quickly fell in love with the Musket.  It started off as a straight flier with a small but dependable fade at the end and has beat in to the point where I can get some manageable turn out of it yet it will always fade back and will still finish left.  This is a great disc for longer, tight shots as well as I can flip it up to flat when thrown on a slight hyzer and trust it to fly straight until it fades at the end.  I can't wait for the full run of these discs to be released.

171g Purple TC Opto Musket. The Musket has become one of my go-to distance drivers since the TC! Although... mine seems to be a lot more understable than the other Muskets I've seen. When playing the TC, my card nicknamed my Musket the "Maver-usket" because it was flying understable like a Maverick would. Maybe I was just releasing with a little bit of anhyzer? I have heard elsewhere that te purple run was more understable. Anyways, I throw about 325-350 and I can get really nice S-curves with this disc. As I said before, it's become one of my go-tos. If it starts turning, it doesn't like coming back though. It likes to hold whatever line you put it on.

I really liked all of the Trilogy Challenge discs this year, but the Latitude 64 Musket was my least favorite of the three. Not that it's a bad disc, or didn't work well for me (it did), I just liked the other two discs even more. They both got five star ratings from me.

The Musket is a super solid all purpose driver that worked well for both backhand and forehand throws for me. With a little bit thinner rim, this disc wasn't so fast that it was too overstable for my backhand throw. On a hyzer release forehand throw, the Musket went as far as anything else I can flick. I wouldn't give the musket I threw a 3 fade rating as it really didn't fade a lot for me and had a pretty straight flight path.

There are so many different "stable" moderate rim sized drivers out there that the Musket isn't anything new. It's not going to provide you with more distance than another driver, but it is a solid driver that is worth the try if your a Latitude fan looking to try something new.

Got two of these at Trilogy challenges and it went straight into my bag. The two I got were a little different as the first one was very domey and pop top while the second one was pretty average dome and was slightly less stable. If you have 400' of power then this disc is going to be very straight for you and if you don't throw it full power you might get a little fade from it. I use this disc mainly for forehands because it is so straight and glidey with the way I throw it. I am able to throw this backhand into a headwind still have it come back since I don't have a whole ton of power but I still use it for longer hyzer shots that need to get around a long turn or corner. I would not give this to a beginner because it is just too stable to start with and it is pretty stable even for more experienced players. I do think that it is a great disc that is definitely worth checking out either above or at a Trilogy challenge because I think most people will be able to find a use for the Musket

I'm not sure why any reviewer would think this was supposed to be understable. It was never marketed that was. It was an escape pro, and the escape is neutral to slightly overstable for most beginners. For myself this disc is exactly what the escape was before arm speed increased. I tend to max out fairways around 350, and even being slightly stable i was able to reach this distance with a very slight turn. I'm writing this as I'm buying another one. If you love the escape but want just a touch more stability this is an excellent option! highly recommended.

I was not a huge fan of this disc at the Trilogy Challenge, but since then have warmed up to it.  It was definitely WAY more overstable than I was expecting, and Opto plastic is more slippery than I tend to prefer in my drivers (I usually go for the Gold Line/Tournament/Star type plastics.)

Now that I've finally figured out how to grip and throw the Musket, it does one thing for me really well: go straight for a while, and fade out WAY left.  It also skips further than anything else I have in my bag, and it tends to skip almost directly left.  If that kind of shot is what's missing from your bag, the Musket might be a good choice.

167: Oh DD how they hype their discs. They had me excited for this so called understable driver.  Lets start off with this. It's not understable... at all.  I had multiple people throw this, all with the same result (all ppl throw under 400'): meathook.  This is way more stable than the Getaway.  This is EXTREMELY domey, which is why it is glidey but you need a big arm for this.  Also under the rim is concave which makes for an odd grip.  This flies more stable than a Sexton Firebird.  Super disappointed, so if you want a very stable disc great, throw this. If you are looking for a slightly understable driver with consistent fade as a main driver, keep looking...

I threw this disc for the first time in the 2018 Trilogy challenge and immediate knew it had been a place in my bag. It has a workable amount of overstability and has that tweener speed that powers both up and down well and is comfortable in the hand. It flexes, flips to flat if you crush it, holds annies for a long time, forehands extremely well, it flick rolls dead straight; it's just a go-to versatile disc. As it beats in, it will only become more perfect.
