172 First Run Royal Grand Honor

Unfortunately I lost this disc after using it for a few rounds. Thankfully, found one in a used bin and picked it back up. Forgot what I was missing. Very dependable. Fights the wind well. Feels like it comes out of the hand fast, pushes straight (zero turn for me), and then has a strong fade, often with a rather large skip. It is stable enough for me to use as my OS fairway and even pair it with my Prodigy Feedback, which flies straighter than the honor.

The best part about this disc for me is the consistent release and flight. It is just one of those discs that always brings confidence when I throw it. Haven't used it long enough to test the long term stability. I assume it will straighten out some but I used a grace for about two years with limited change in flight. The one I have is white and the royal plastic took dye really well. Overall, I think the numbers are quite accurate on this and would rate it 9 / 5 / 0 / 2.5.

While a bit of a utility disc for me, I love the Honor. When reading the other reviews, I find it more stable than those that thought it was comparable to a Thunder Bird, including a Halo ThunderBird. My dead-straight 9 speed is a GStar Thunderbird and the Honor is at least two ticks up in stability than that. If comparing it to other discs out there, I would say it's closest to a Star Firebird. When thrown flat, it goes straight for about 85% of it's flight and then starts to fade hard (but not really dump) with a big skip. When thrown into a 15-20mph headwind, it goes dead straight for me. For reference, I live at about 5,500' and can throw 400ft.

This is the Lat64 version of a Firebird, but in Royal Grand plastic which makes it amazing. This disc will hold torque on a forehand, and absolutely fight the wind on a backhand shot. Super reliable and will not disappoint.

The one spot in my bag that I've never been satisfied with is the overstable control driver, something that can fit between a Saint and a Firebird and fly 375-425 with a nice fade. My Thunderbird was decent but a little finnicky, my Escape was too flippy, my Terra didn't have the distance, and my Musket was too straight. The only disc I ever got along with in that spot was a G-Star Firebird, but I always wanted something like that with more glide in a harder plastic.

The Honor I believe is that. I will say, the 2.5 fade seems more like a 3 right now, but I believe it will beat in perfectly for how I want it. This disc does not flip up even a little bit, no matter how much power I put behind it. The Royal Grand plastic is the best on the market. The disc looks good, feels good, and flies great. It can handle forehand torque very well and fights out of anhyzer throws spectacularly.

My only issue with the Honor so far is that its fade seems to begin earlier than expected. I think that will change once I inevitably chuck it off some trees.

Beautiful disc and flight. It's exactly what I was expecting. Enough torque to handle my not great forehand but with much less fade than you're typical overstable 9 speed. Reminds me of a Thunderbird in Royal plastic.

Probably pretty overstable for beginners but since you'll want to throw it anyway as a beginner it's probably not the worst choice. I'd say only a 2 fade not 2.5

To all of you Lat64 fans who loved the culverin but can never find it. Let me introduce you to the Honor! This disc is "Chefs Kiss". When I initially recieved this disc, I was unaware of the flight numbers and expected it to be a little beefier than it actually was, something akin to the Pioneer. This was completely wrong! This disc is the "New and Improved" Culverin! Dead straight flight with a reliable and consistent fade at the end of its flight.

Feel: The Royal Grand Plastic is the best plastic on the market. Grippy, Durable, No Flashing and Just so darn pretty.

Flight: As stated above, when thrown RHBH flat, this disc will fly dead straight for 80% of its flight before fading consistently to the left, In a head wind you will see a small amount of turn but the fade still hits. On Hyzer, this disc will hold the line with a pushing fade that will maximize your distance. On anny, This disc will hold the line for 60% of the flight, then fight out to finish straight.

THIS DISC IS A MUST HAVE IN YOUR ARSENAL!
