This is such a fun disc. It flips very easy so when you need accuracy and a turning shot on low power this is phenomenal. Great for getting out of trouble or if footing is sketchy. It might be my favorite disc right now

I bag 171G Star Wedge and live above 5000' elevation in Wyoming

Plastic: Classic Innova Star Plastic, good amount of grip, moderately soft and grippy.  Relatively flat top, very shallow rim.  VERY shallow feel in the hand.

Flight: Very understable putter.  This disc is what taught me angle AND power/speed control.  This disc HAS to be released on a smooth hyzer if you want any hope of controlling the flight.  When thrown powered down and on hyzer the disc will pop to flat and start drifting to the right without any fade at all, it will finish straight.  Easy turn over flights, even at super low speeds, still needs to be released on hyzer.  When I throw this disc flat it will turn over almost immediately.  Great for shaping shots in the woods, or for easy turn over approaches.  Also great for short distance rollers.

Conclusion: I personally feel like this disc could hit or miss with beginners.  A lot will depend on the arm speed.  Slower arm speeds will be able to get easy hyzer flips and turn over shots.  Faster arm speeds WILL need to practice their angles if they want to have any control over this disc.  This will also help teach a smooth release.  To much wobble on this disc and it will burn over.  Also great to start practicing rollers since it is easy to get this disc laid down.  This disc is in my bag as a "get out of jail free" card.  One other item to note, the extra shallow rim is definitely a "different" feel in the hand and could possible be a turn off for some.

Since I do not have any decidedly understable putters or midranges in my bag, it is important that I have a utility disc that is both understable and - uh - wedged in between a putter and a midrange.  When used as a putter, this disc can help cover long distance putts, downhill putts, or anything where you may need a slight finish to the right.  When used as a midrange or approach disc, this disc will flip up to flat when thrown on a hyzer angle, will turn when thrown flat with a touch of fade at the end (which is good for Mirage converts who didn't like the lack of fade in that disc), and will roll when thrown on an anhyzer angle.  I bought this disc for the novelty, but stuck around for the utility because it manages to fill the gaps that other discs simply can't in my bag.  It's a shame that these aren't released as frequently, but if you manage to get your hands on one, it will help your game no matter your skill level.

The Wedge transformed my game. It's such a great disc for finesse backhands and scramble shots. I can put tons of hyzer on it and it still flips over. I never go anywhere without my Wedge.

Absolutely love the wedge it was one of the very first discs that changed my thought process about throwing i was able to hyzerflip it with ease when i put it at a 45' angle it bombed straight to a little late understable turn, i imagine that wedge was very old and broken in. i just bought a new one remembering how i threw that old one many years ago, and im very glad i did because i needed an understable putter for those touch shots, I've already birdied a hole I've never birdied before with it. even right out of the box the star wedge thrown flat with a little power will turn on anhyzer line beautifully, let this disc do the work for you! not everyone is James Conrad. i believe everyone needs a star wedge in their bag go get one now! (if you can find one anywhere)

(RHBH) The wedge prob won't be your main putter but it deserves a place in the bag. I have a 174g version and have played a couple of rounds with only that disc to really get a feel.

For putting it will not be very forgiving unless you hit petty straight on. But it's really easy to make slight right fade putts or straight on more forceful putts. When it's windy and I'm a little bit out I always pull out my wedge. Same when I have any need for not risking having the disc go left.

For drives or mid range you will need to really work on release angles to get the distance and placement. With some field practice I quickly found how awesome it is to go straight some distance and then take a nice flat right fade. The day after the field practice I hit an ace with the wedge with that exact shot.

This disc deff requires some non game practice and also some trust in its fade ability, and even though it's not my main putter or mid range, I use it multiple times every round.

Get yourself a Wedge!  I picked up one recently and it's gonna stay in my bag for a long time.  I love it as an approach disc especially in tight windows.  It is also fantastic in holding an anhyzer angle all the way to the basket.  Finally, this disc holds up very well on windy days and that is why it's gonna stay in my bag!

This is the disc that taught my how to turn over my throws. I have been playing for about 10 years now and have always avoided anahyzer shots because I could not get them to hold flat ( they would always flip over so I just stuck to good ol hyzer shots).

Day one with the wedge I was amazed that I was able to turn it over WITH EASE. after a few weeks of having it in the bag I had to confidence to start throwing some faster under stable discs and now I am ripping anahyzer forearm shots 400 ft!

I could not have gotten here without the wedge

Make your friends jealous of your sick turn over shots and buy a wedge

The Wedge is a garbage putter.

The Wedge is an AMAZING mid-range.

When thrown slow, the Wedge is okay. The numbers are pretty accurate, meaning a new pkayer can throw it pretty straight as they don't have the power to turn it over much.

Where the Wedge really shines is when overpowered and used as a mid-range. Throw it flat RHBH, and the disc goes pretty straight for a few seconds before the instability takes over, and it starts a "fade" to the right. Great for curving around obstacles.

Thrown RHFH, the disc goes extremely straight for a long distance, then either drops to the ground, or makes a sharp, fast, short turn to the left as it dumps to the ground... very controlable.

When I got the disc, I tried a few medium power throws and thought the disc was garbage. I was very unhappy with the disc and was ready to throw it in one of the garage bins. Instead, a day later I took it to a field to try a few things and found out how to throw the disc well. I have since Sharpied out the "Putt and approach" and replaced it with "Throw me hard".

I assume this would be an okay disc for new players as it will pull their shot straight, but I would usually recommend a Stingray of Skeeter. This disc is really going to be better when treated like it's a different speed clas by an experienced player.

Picking up one of these in low weight Star to see how it throws, and another one in max weight Star just so I have a backup as I am really starting to like this weird disc a lot.

The Star Wedge is a pretty unique mold. I picked one up as a beginner at 166g weight. I was looking for a hyzer flipping driving putter for tight lines. It performed its job admirably until my trow improved to where I would turn it over a little too quickly. I kept it in the bag for that rare anhyzer putt that needs to go around a tree or bush. The rim is low profile and thin with the flight plate very domey. The Wedge is now my go-to disc to hand to a new player as it is an understandable putter that emulates the shape of a regular Frisbee with a little more speed than most putters. Gave it to a friend to try an approach shot and he drained it from 70ft out! Great disc. I give it 4 stars bc now that I'm more advance I find it hard to control.

Star Wedge (175g) - I haven't found this disc as useful as other discs in the Innova line-up. Probably the closest competitor, or maybe replacement depending on how you look at it, is the Mirage. I bought it with the potential for those turnover backhand shots that are so useful and I was able to get it to turnover, but the lack of glide compared to equally understable discs like the Kite or Stingray or even the Foxbat seemed to limit its utility for me. I ended up giving it to my wife who has limited armspeed thinking that the slower speed and understability would be a backhand disc she could start with, but the glide was an issue again and never seemed to give her enough air time to let the disc do anything for her. I replaced the Wedge in her bag with a light-weight Star Mirage (a little extra glide) and she loves it; plus it is more easily replaceable now that Innova doesn't make the Wedge anymore. All in all, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but I wouldn't say it is useless. There are other options out there though.

Amazing turnover disc! There are very few discs that turn over as easy as this one. Literally harder to get to go left than right for a righty backhand. Highly under rated and I always get asked "what did you just throw?" whenever someone sees it for the first time. Probably the most beginner friendly disc out there.

So I won a gstar as wedge at a tournament as a ctp prize.  Id wanted to try one before just never found a good reason to get one.  Wish I had this thing is great.  Now I'm not a great putter but I'm ok, my main issue is after 30 feet or so I tend to fall short on my shots.  This disc extends my range, same exact motion and it's and extra 10 feet without any adjustments at all to my playing style.  Meaning there is nothing to relearn.

Then I let my 9 year old daughter try it.  And she's drilling laser beams from 20 feet out.

Great first putter or a valuable touch turnover disc!

What I like about the Wedge is you can turn it over without any effort nor an anhyzer angle. It is perfect for shot shorts that you cant put a ton of snap on, or those anhyzers you want to drift to your throwing side without putting the angle into the ground.

    Definitely a unique one!

I recently won a GStar wedge from a tournament. I had no idea what it would fly like but I decided to try it. I threw it and it was an instant roller disc. I use this disc when I need a big turnover shot with low fade. I can throw this disc about 200' with a big anhyzer. This is a great first disc for beginners to throw and putt with.

This putter has a lot of glide and turn, but can be frustrating to use because of it's touchiness. I don't like it for downhill approach putts because of the dangerous amount of glide. If I give this putter too much speed off the pad it is liable to turn too hard and burn. This is definatly not a wind disc either. My star Wedge does have a few redeeming qualities though. On the positive side, this burn mentality makes for a great roller. The Wedge has handled some of my anhyzer scramble shots quite well too, you just have to baby it a little. This disc also keeps those slow speed throws aloft longer for low ceiling shots. I had ambitions of making the Wedge my go-to putter for turning drives off the tee pad, but it's just too unreliable for me. I think I could make it work, but ultimately, I don't think it is worth the time and effort. I would recommend the Wedge for young beginners or those who want a straight putter.

I found this disc in a brand new condition while searching for another disc. The star plastic makes it great for trouble shots. It takes a beating without collecting scars. It makes a great roller, and phenomenal approach disc. It requires more spin than most putters, but that fits my style.
