My low review is entirely based upon the feel of the disc in my hand. It's the only one that feels dramatically different than the others in my bag, and makes me feel clumsy when throwing this. I don't feel it fades much at all, and I only use this disc for lazy drifters to the right when I don't feel I can use my FH throw (which I normally would go towards). This disc may be my least thrown disc.

This is a wonderful starter disc that gets overlooked among the many other midranges out there. More experienced players are usually seeking out the perfect oversable mid, but as you're learning to throw lines (especially in the woods) this could be many players first disc to learn how to throw hyzerflips with. The rim feels a bit more like a driver than a midrange as well, and some folks may prefer that feel in the hand.

I was a bit surprised to find 0 reviews for this disc. Like its slightly longer cousin, the manta, the stingray is a great addition to every beginners bag. When I was first starting out, the stingray was the first disc beyond my putters I had confidence in and now that I'm edging toward intermediate its still one of my favorite approach discs when shot shape isn't key. Very forgiving even in full weight DX and Star, a 50% power 100 ft upshot is very predictable with a light turn followed by glide and then an gentle fade. My only fault with the DX version is how much abuse it takes on our rocky course, but the star plastic version is holding up better and flys almost as understable after a few sessions to beat the newness out of it.

If you have never played disc golf before, this is the perfect disc for you. Understable with great glide, the stingray will be the farthest flying disc for many brand new players. As you improve, the stingray becomes a reliable turnover disc for a nice anhyzer shot. Intermediates will find this disc will roll over consistenly, useful as a utility disc for getting out of tough spots with a back-to-the-basket type throw.

As someone just starting out and trying to build up arm speed, I felt like this disc helps with some of the flaws in my technique and allowed me to have some more distance and control while I have been working on getting a more consistent release while trying to increase my arm speed.

The Stingray is a shallow midrange with a thin rim giving it a more nimble when compared to more “modern” midranges. For newer or lower power players this will be a fantastic straight flying midrange disc that has enough turn and glide to stay aloft and get surprising distance. For moderate power players this will serve as a great turnover midrange that has just enough stability to land flat and carry sweeping anhyzer lines. My favorite shot to use the Stingray for is hitting tight gaps/tunnels with a slight hyzer flip. I can slow down to focus on hitting the gap, throw the Stingray with 60-70% effort, and the stingray will flip to flat, ride and finish dead strait, and get commendable distance due to its glide. For players throwing Makos, Rocs, Sharks, Lions … the Stingray will be a very different feel and flight, but if you take the time to learn to throw it you will be rewarded with a versatile and dependable midrange that can carve flip and anhyzer lines with ease. The only type of player that I would not recommend the Stingray for would be those with considerable power as a Wombat or Cobra would probably be a better fit to find a similar flight.

The Innova Stingray is one of the best disc golf discs for beginner, and even experienced players. The vast glide and reliable turn make for an incredibly dependent midrange for wooded and open field courses alike. This disc has brought me 5 aces in 2020 and I hope it gives you all the same luck!

I love my stingray! Very versatile midrange that will perform hyzer flips, short skip shots, backhand turnovers, tunnel shots, you name it. Also has some sneaky distance if you don't overpower it. If you're just starting out you could honestly get by with just this and a putter.

The stingray is like the manta's brother although, I'd say the stingray provides a lot more accuracy towards the flat ratings upon the disc itself. I also feel the stingray is a lot more comfortable, as well as more tolerant to wind. For more experienced/higher arm speed players, this would normally only be used as a utility desk. Although for beginners as well as slow arm speed players, This disc would be very straight flying and very easily controlled to many.

A pretty good place to start with Understable Discs.  The Stingray allows RHBH players without a reliable backhand a good option for Anhyzer throws.  The DX plastic beats in pretty quickly and can get very flippy within just a few months, making it a good flip-hyzer disc.  After trying different discs, I think the Sol is a more consistent understable mid, but the price is obviously much nicer with the DX Stingray.   Don't ever throw this disc into a headwind, it will go straight right and never come back

My favorite Mid-range in my collection. Throw it slightly hyzer (Right hand Backhand) to hit those targets banking right. Or give it more hyzer to make it flip up and fly straight. Learn this disc and it will be your best friend!

This is THE disc for beginners.  It was my go to midrange for quite a while and became a great roller disc.  I learned a lot about throwing technique and disc workability by carrying this disc for so long.  Its a right of passage for every disc golfer to carry a Stingray in their bag at some time.

I got the DX Stingray in an Innova starter pack years ago. It is really easy to throw and very beginner friendly. For the longest time is was my go to disc. Now that I have some more experience I find myself using it less and less but it is definitely a solid disc to start with. The mold is pretty comfortable in the hand. It can be thrown fairly straight, very easily. The DX plastic is the only minus for me and that really comes down to preference. I don't like the feel of DX as much as something like Champion, Z, Star, or ESP. DX is also not as durable. So the disc will beat in quick, but it can get chunked pretty quick.

Great disc! I got this because after doing some research I found out it is easier for beginners to throw understable discs. This is now my main midrange and it gets the job done everytime. Easy to throw and when you get it just right its nice to watch this baby fly. Highly recommend to beginners who keep dealing with their mid-range disc fading out too quickly. I advise trying this one out over the Buzzz until you get better form.

Love this mould. Without a reliable forearm, it's gliding right-hand turn from a largely flat release lets me access gaps. it's really dependable as long as you control the air speed over the disc. Super comfortable grip for my small hands and a trusty release.

The stingray is a super good beginner midrange with a lot of glide and controllability. This is a great beginner mid range and can help teach the correct way to throw. I can throw the stingray on a lot of lines and get the disc to do a lot for me. I think a stingray is a great way for beginners to get introduced to throwing all sorts of shots on all types of angles. There really is nothing a stingray can't do with enough practice and correct angle. If you want a disc that can be used at most skill levels and can boost your play, get yourself a stingray.

I recently bought the stingray and it has been a straight flying disc all the way for me. It just floats and floats right to the target.  However, it can also pierce through some wind when you need if you get a good launch. A great disc to do those touch shots and very beginner friendly. I love this disc, my only downside is it very thin and I prefer thicker discs. But overall a great disc and well worth the buy!

I have been playing for only about a month or so. I picked up a Stingray and a Roc and a friend gave me an Atlas, my trinity of mid-ranges. I have been working with the Roc to get better, and I can throw the Atlas straight, but not far. The Stingray is my best overall mid-range right now.

As a new player, the issue us that I have bit yet developed muscle-memory. Every release is different. Simetimes I miss leg-work, sometimes I hold the disc wrong, sometimes I try to muscle the throw with my arm and forget to use my core. The Stingray helps keep my disc at least on the course when this happens.

I know it's me screwing up because when I get ut all right, I get much better distance from the disc, and a nice S-curve to it. But when I get it wrong, the Stingray doesn't punish me like thr Roc does. I at least stay on the course and can enjoy the game.

From other reviews, I'm guessing this is not an expert disc, but for a new player, it has allowed me to at least play in the same game as friends who have been playing for years. Nobody likes having to look for their disc every single throw, and with the Stingray, I don't have to as often.

The Stingray is a very beginner friendly disc that doesn't get a whole lot of love. I love the way it feels in the hand and am starting to fall in love with beadless discs because of the Stingray. It has such a smooth crisp release whereas a beaded disc may get in the way of that perfect release you want. Very floaty and will travel fairly straight with a slight fade. I challenged a friend to a stingray/manta face-off and the stingray really performed well. Also an excellent roller!

This is a great beginner disc as it flies straight a slower speeds, assuming you have the correct nose and flight angle of course. If you don't know what that is don't worry, you may very soon as you play. This disc can go far (200-250 feet) without much effort and is comfortable because of the small rim for kids or ladies too.

I was thinking the other day how nice some Champion versions might be.

I've thrown this because of my Nephew who had one while growing up. It was his favorite disc.

This is a nice usually very understable mid by innova..  this is a nice and friendly beginner mid, however every once in a while a run is much more understable than usual.. I personal like this disc alot however the only problem I have with it is that it does tend to flip and roll alot when you rip on it. And for some reason the roll is never in my favor.  As the disc breaks its I've noticed on several of mine they almost seem to just go straighter.

This is the disc I use whenever I do single disc rounds. It is also the disc I have had in my bad the longest. I tend to carry two. A new one and a broken in one.

Between this and the buzzz and Mako my midranges are 100% covered.

If you have a finesse shot this is my go to disc!

Absolutely amazing and I belief it is way under rated.

I agree with the specified flight numbers.

The Stingray is one of the easiest discs to throw and grip. The #'s are spot on as this thing just floats so well. If you have a sore arm and need to rest up, just take this disc out and finesse everything. You'll be surprised how far you'll get it on a low effort hyzer flip!

Obviously a legendary mid range roller and amazing scramble disc. I think everyone would benefit from having one of these in their bag or at least learning how to throw it! Will always have a special place in my heart as one of my first discs.

This is an amazing under stable mid range disc for all levels of players. The glide is insane, and well always flip over, very controllable disc you can always rely on the same flight. Release on a  good hyzer, and it well take it's time and flip out of it, allowing it to get maximum distance.

This disc is my go-to for short turnovers, utility rollers, and super straight short range shots. It will flip with very little power, especially when its super beat in. I'd recommend getting the Stingray in DX for this very purpose. Sometimes I need a very short 100-150ft turnover shot and my understable driver is just too fast for the job, so I reach for this disc. When thrown flat, it turns right and never comes back. With a substantial hyzer and some careful power control, its amazingly straight with extremely little to no fade at the end. The main issue is its lack of real utility when new. It really needs a good beat-in. It can also be pretty touchy.

Great slow arm speed beginner friendly disc! SO MUCH GLIDE!!!! I have 3 PFN DX that I've rotated in and out of my bag over 10 years. It's a disc that takes on different uses as you evolve as a player. Whereas it once was a glidey straight disc for me at full power, it now is a glidey swooping turnover disc. I throw it as a controlled long distance turner. Nice and straight on easy layups.

The Stingray is an awesome understable midrange option for newer players and experienced players. This is one of the farthest flying midranges I have ever thrown. You can get this thing to flip up and fly flat for a long ways. This disc is also great for huge sweeping anhyzers. Wind is not a friend to this disc, so if you throw it, you will want to pair is with a more stable disc.

This disc, in my opinion is a "must have" for any beginner and intermediate player. It will provide great distance for newer players, while making an excellent turnover disc for more advanced players. They are great for backhand turnover shots, especially in wooded areas. Put it on a hyzer line and watch it quickly pop up flat and land relatively straight. Add some extra power to the hyzer for a slower turnover. All the guys I play with now have stingrays after watching me throw mine!

Great beginner mid-range disc! I actually found an already beat-up dx version of this disc and it was super fun to throw. Had a very strong right turn if I gave it any sort of speed, so I had to release with hyzer for it to flip up and over. It eventually got to the point where I could release the disc pointing straight down (hyzer) and it would flip 180 degrees to a roller, before it finally hit one too many trees and literally broke in half. Would definitely love to try this disc out again in a more durable plastic for those tunnel to right-turning 200ft shots.

I have DX old school 144g. Before Flight stamp. 150 class disc.

Great disc starts out straight finishes slight right. Not a big flip just drifts to the right slowly. One of my first disc. Throw this disc often. Great Beginner disc.

I recently picked up a DX stingray in an effort to fill a hole in my bag. I had lost my beat in turnover Roc at a tournament and needed a flippy mid.

My very first throw with it during a league doubles round was on a 275ft Left to Right hole. I don't have a strong sidearm so I rely on a backhand turnover shot. Well I threw the stingray a bit wide left of the pin, it flipped over, started gliding towards the basket, flew right over it, and actually ended up about 300ft out, and sailed OB! Ace run on the first throw, yeah it's been in my bag since.

At first it didn't flip as much as I thought it would based on the numbers, but a little road skip and a tree hit here on there and it's true to the flight ratings. Also makes a great standstill disc for throwing powered down laser beams.

I have carried a Stingray in my bag for 15 years now and will probably carry one in there for fifteen more. Just a fun disc to throw honestly. It's going to turn, that's what it is supposed to do and when this thing turns it just flies "pretty"...just kind of glides and floats to wherever you wanted to put it (assuming you wanted to put it right (RHBH)). Also, this may be the only disc that I actually prefer in the DX plastic simply because how this disc can evolve from that turn-heavy mid to a great roller in no time in the DX plastic which is great to me. One disc that can perform two functions very well over the course of it's life is a great deal.

If you are a beginner, do yourself a favor and pickup a DX stingray.  this thing will fly very straight for your brand new, and will slowly break in to being an awesome flat to turnover disc.  I gave my Dad a beat in stingray when he started playing and it gave him the confidence to throw turnover shots a lot earlier in his development.  He could just trust the disc when thrown flat to turn over and carry right when he needed it too.

Have in star and while that one is a little heavier and can handle bei g used off the tee, I really prefer this In dx. The exrra glide thay dx gives really helps this stay turned. I can throw it flat with moderate power and knpw it will turn and finish rt every time. Hyzerfilps see lonf lines and depending on the amount of hyzer finishes can be left to rt all based on the release. If your an innova fan or need a straight to something that turns easily id look at this versitle us mid. begginer and slower arms should definitely consider this disc. once you see some turn maybe start looking for faster or more neutral stability
