I used this disc when I started playing to try out a beaded mid range disc. Overall it's not bad, but it's not great either. It feels ok in the hand, but I'm not a huge fan of beaded mid ranges. The flight is mostly straight, but it just doesn't glide as much as I want out of my mid ranges.

This isn't a bad option for new players that want a disc to learn on, but ultimately I prefer a mid with more glide. With all the options out there I'd rather have a mako3 or Lion.

This is a review for my older DX spider, which is not an option in the dropdown list.

The Spider is a pretty old mold, and has since been outclassed by many other discs in the Innova lineup. The Atlas and the Mako3 both offer similar flight-lines, but just seem to be better discs. That being said, I do love the feel of the Spider in my hand. I love Aviars, and it sort of has a similar feel to it.

The disc has a very good flight-path, and is very consistent. I got this disc at the same time I got my Atlas, and wavered between the two for a while, but ultimately settled on the Atlas as my straight mid-range as it just seems to get that little extra distance, and seems to hold lines just a hair better. That's not to say the Spider is bad, just that improvements to molds over the years seem to have made this disc obsolete.

Even though I don't personally use my Spider anymore, I do keep it in my loaner bag for when I take people who have never played before. The dis is very easy to throw, doesn't flip on new players, doesn't have the fade to punish them for terrible throws, and has a big, deep rim so they can get a good hold on it. This disc pretty much goes wherever they throw it... good or bad.

I do like the feel of the spider, and may eventually pick up another one for my loaner bag due to how goof it is for beginners, but I don't think my DX Spider will ever see much play from me.

7/28/19  id like to update my review.

Movin on up into the 200 foot +/- range on the not uphill shots at not full power to keep my form in check.  I agree with AZ Ryan, tried the mako and the buzz, and the spider reaches just as far for me and with more versatility for the right or left tending shots in the wooded courses. Not to say they are bad disks, i just prefer the spider as a straight shooter.  I find myself putting more with it also because i trust it.  Its also a good shorter range compliment to my TL.

This review is only on the Star Spider, which is one of my all time favorite discs. It is a terrific backhand and forehand mid and approach disc. For me, it goes just as far as other mids; however, it is much better for forehands and never skips far.  When released on a forehand with a slight hyzer, it goes laser beam straight. It's great for tunnel shots.

I'm actually reviewing the DX version. Fun little disc to throw. Took me about 4-5 holes of a one-disc round to get a feel for it. It is definitely a straight flier, somewhat averse to headwind, but a real tailwind bomber. I like it because it also serves as a backup putter. This could develop into a money approach disc with familiarity, as it really sticks when it lands. Love these old-school molds.

RHFH recreational player- I like the spider because it just works for me with consistent results as a go right or left or straight finesse disc in the wooded courses inside of of about 100 feet, its also a good straight putter if im outside of my comfortable putting range with wind.  I find that its temperamental to form and has a tendancy to turn over on me when my form breaks down when i try and power it.  Like its recommended, find a disc you like and get more for field work, just got 3 more. Id like to see it in G star. im giving i five stars

I just played my first round with this disc.  There’s much more fade backhand than I expected.  The fade started early in the flight and finished strong.  The disc flew well, with less fade from my forehand, though I can’t explain why.  The disc performed predictably on overhand shots.  For a speed five, it putts pretty well.  With the low glide, it was pretty easy to control distance.

I’d rate the disc as three stars

The Spider is a great option for players looking for a neutral yet stable midrange, especially if they want a smaller diameter mid. The disc is a straight flyer, but it really has some stability to it. It also lacks the glide that a lot of midranges have, but this can make it easy to control distance and accuracy. Overall, this is a great disc.

I bought this disc well over 10 years ago.  When I picked up the game again it's been a disc that is very consistent and reliable.  It goes where you want it to go.

I have owned a 150g DX Spider for 13+ years now (it was my first disc ever) and I have just recently purchased a 171g Star Spider and I love both of them. They are straight-flying, glidely, multi-purpose mid-ranges which are perfect for short drives off the tee, long upshots, and even long putts. I find myself reaching for my Spiders quite often throughout a round for almost any kind of shot because I'm so comfortable and confident with these discs. I also really love the rim size/ profile (it's very easy to control and get a good grip on) and it's got a nice, rounded dome on top of the disc for added glide. As for the flight numbers of the Spider, I would agree with all of them, except for glide. I would attribute the Spider's glide with more in the 4-5 range rather than a 3. I would gladly recommend this disc to anyone (beginners included) looking for a versatile, multi-purpose disc with a lot of glide to check these out.
