Just used it for the first time and it worked great. It was flipping up from a hyzer release, holding a slight turn, and finishing with a little fade. I'll be getting another. Would recommend.

This disc is so underated. This was my go to driver when learning to play. It will float out there forever, even on an underpowered throw and stay mostly straight. It has since turned into my go to mid/approach disc. It now understable but holds its right turn almost completely through flight without flipping unless I overpower it. Super consistent and easy to control. I recommend going wiht a heavier weight and sturdier plastic so its less flippy. Top 3 disc inn my bag at any given time.

I recommend a Cobra to any beginner that has never been able to make a disc go to the right.

A DX one gets soooo flippy once it gets a little tree love.

This was the first Mid-ranges I used and its was one of my favorites. In the beginning you'll enjoy the very straight flights it will give you with surprisingly gentle landings. As they beat in they'll become a little more flippy but still predictable. Highly recommend this disc for beginners.

I beat in two DX Cobras back in the 1990s.  So long ago I can only remember I got my first hyzer flips with them.  Back then, I didn't know the terms or understand the flight numbers.  Even the Internet was just becoming a thing, so I couldn't look them up.  After not playing disc golf from 2000-2019, I came back.  My arm had noodled.  I needed something I could turn with a RHBH.  In stepped the two ancient 175g Gainesville Disc Golf Club Cobras.

I can get this these discs on a gentle turn line and they will glide and settle down gently.  Need to get to the right side of a tight par 4 fairway or around that tree to the chains but your forehand is unreliable?  Here's an answer.  I've gotten a bunch of birdies thanks to these antediluvian discs.  I love the Buzzz and Kaxe.  But when my RHBH absolutely must turn and glide, the Cobras get the call.

    173g DX

The very first midrange that I actually found on my local course. I didn't understand what the difference was between midranges and drivers flights when I started but after I played a round with this I knew exactly how they were different. This disc is my go to disc for throws I need to go straight that are around 230 ft. This disc if thrown straight will go pretty straight with a hyzer fade, and with a slight anhyzer it's flight looks amazing. If I need to throw a disc on a anhyzer the whole flight I throw this disc as it holds it's angle for a majority of it's flight. I highly recommend this disc for people who need a stable midrange.

The very first disc I got my hands on was a Katana, BIG MISTAKE. I had no clue what flight numbers were at the time and had gotten a disc that is still out of my wheelhouse. I am new to the sport and wanted something that I could throw farther than a traditional Frisbee. Enter the Cobra. I found my first cobra on the course as I was struggling through my round with a Katana I couldn't throw and a Polecat that I probably should have been throwing the whole time. My first toss with the cobra blew my mind. It turned right and faded left and I was able to throw it on a good line with minimal effort without being frustrated with a terrible flight. I liked it so much I got another one since the one I found was pretty worn in. The new one I have holds a tight straight line on forehand shots, and I have smoked the chains on my backyard basket many a time from 50+ out. I think that this is a good balanced disc that can hold a spot in any beginners bag. I would highly recommend this disc to anyone that is looking to get into the sport. It makes for a good driver off the tee for any beginner that isn't ready for a high speed distance driver.

Flat Flyer,  easy for new players.   beat in a heavy one and you should be able to roll it very far.  i used to upside down putt this disc in crazy fast down winds 20 mph,   I know a player who had a lot of aces with the Cobra,  It glides straight and sticks to the chains.  lighter cobras about 170 good for new players = about fade 1.

This disc is awesome for approach shots, it is lazer strait and easy to throw I even use it as a putter sometimes. When i try to put more power into it, it becomes more uncontrollable for me and will fly off in many different directions and distances.

    Disc - 174 DX Cobra

Feel - The Cobra to me feels like a shallower roc. It feels great in my hand for forehands and felt a little shallow at first for backhands but once I got used to the feel I hardly noticed it. The DX plastic wears in fairly quickly but I enjoy using this disc in different stages of wear for different flights.

Flight - My 12 year old brother bought a used DX Cobra as one of his first discs and as I watched him throw some of his best shots with the disc I thought that I should at least give it a try. At first, the disc seemed very touchy to me and I still believe that it is touchy but once you learn to hit it right you can throw this disc on some fantastic lines. If you give this disc a touch of hyzer and a decent amount of power it will flip up to flat very late and slowly turn and then at the end of the flight it will fade. It will also hold a fantastic anny line or a hyzer if thrown fairly steep.

Overall - I would say that the cobra is great for beginners and more advanced players alike. For a beginner it will pop up to flat and glide a long ways and for an advanced player you can shape this disc in the woods like a perfect roc. I would recommend this disc to anyone who is struggling to find a disc that they can throw in the woods and get some difficult lines out of without having to force a disc into a line.

The DX Cobra was the first disc I fell in love with. The shallow rim felt super comfortable in my small mitts, and back when I had lesser form, it would fly straighter and farther than any other disc I owned, including my drivers. As my form improved, the turn started to kick in, and the darned thing would glide out even farther! Then, BAM, I hit my first ace with it! I didn't retire it, and even though it's super beat it's still in my back as a roller.

It holds a steep hyzer fairly well (especially high spikes over the treeline), can be made to go straight with a nice fade on a hyzer flip, flies beautiful S-lines for tight windows, reliably holds anny lines . . . all-in-all it's a fantastic disc that I wish was still available in Champion plastic as it is a superb woods disc! I highly recommend this disc for any beginner or anyone looking for a great shot shaper for wooded courses.

This in my opinion the definition of straight flying beginner disc. This was my first disc ever and when I strarted with super low armspeed this thing still flew straight with some fade at the end. As it got beat in and my armspeed/form got better I was able to throw it on many different lines and it could handle them all. I could throw it flat with some nose up to get it to ride dead straight with little to no fade. If you put some hyzer on it you can get it to flip up straight and even glide right with enough added power. Or if you put it on anhyzer you can get this thing gliding right for days. It really allows players to understand how to throw different angles and gives a player a good idea of how it should look. Will always have a special place in my heart and I would recommend this disc to anyone looking to get into the sport.

    Disc: 162g DX Cobra (Red)

This is an interesting disc that you can manipulate to do lots of cool shots with. Not the mid for me, but I can see how it would work for some people.

Flight: The Cobra turns pretty easily and quickly, but will come back at the very end as the disc slows down. It also is very glidey and easy to throw. You can put this on big S curves. It can also get a good straight glide if thrown with hyzer.

Use: The Cobra is good for shots that need shaping. Big anhyzer that you need to fade out at the end. The rim is actually pretty shallow, so not a bad mid for forehand as well. I think big hyzers that flip to flat are the best for this disc. Use it to maneuver your way around objects as it can be controlled to have a good bit of movement.

Summary: The Cobra didn't make my bag because I didn't love the grip of it. A bit too shallow. It also is a bit too touchy for my style of play. I much prefer straight throwing disc, and this one took too much of a perfect angle to get it to do what I want (others with more skill might have better luck). Lots of glide though, so probably good for a beginner to rip on and see some good results.

Cobra is one of the more fun discs to throw. Mine is pretty flat, and it releases very cleanly. I get a nice slow turn out of it, with fade at the end. It is a great shot-shaper. I also find it pretty long for a mid.

This is one of my favorite discs to use. I've gone back and forth between this and a Comet and I find them to be very similar. To me the Cobra has a little less glide (but still good), and a little more speed. It is a straight flier that can be manipulated easily with release angles. I can get gentle hyzers, dead straight, big anhyzers, and everything in between. The Cobra is offered in DX plastic, and there are some in Champion and Star, but I believe the premium options are a little bit different mold and/or tooling. The DX plastic has great grip, but like any baseline, they can wear in quickly. I have no problem with the wear as the DX is cheaper and I don't get too upset if I lose one. They are much easier to replace than a premium disc that I have spent long amounts of time seasoning. Overall a great disc for those new to the game and those who understand how to manipulate the disc to do what they want.

I wanted a new midrange, something slower and more controllable than my Mako3.  Then I found this almost brand new DX Cobra 157g in the creek.  No name, no phone number so I took it.  Is that wrong?  With its beaded rim and glideyness it offers so much control and versatility, kind of a Swiss army knife.  I use the Cobra when I need to throw around obstacles and get a soft landing in the circle especially on an annie line. I'm thinking about getting a new Cobra in premium plastic.

As a beginner female, I love this disc. I disagree that this disc curves or turns. It flies  very straight for me, which I love. It goes where I want it to without fail. I have done more birdie shots outside of the putting circle range (rare as a beginner but luck does happen) with this disc than any other disc because of its straight shot. It’s also very good at helping you correct form and aim because it’s so straight. You can tell exactly what you have done wrong or right depending on how it flies or lands.  This is my favorite disc in my bag.

Love this Disc. I have it in DX 150g.

This disc will hold the line you put it on. hyzer around a tree no problem for your approach. Up and over trees no problem. It glide forever. Great disc .

Everyone should have a cobra in the bag.

This is the disc I give to all of my friends that are just starting out. Great for beginners, as it will hold a straighter line for them when they inevitably start it out on a hyzer. But intermediate players can find a use for the Cobra as well. I keep three in my bag, two DX ones that I cycle for hyzer-flip to turn and hyzer-flip to flat shots, and a champion cobra that holds a more overstable line for me, so they pretty much cover my midrange needs. You can get really great distance out if this disc with the glide. Plus, if you dig around on YouTube enough, you can find video of Paul McBeth parking holes with a DX Cobra, so it can handle some power.

Ok I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with the description of this not being a straight flier. I have never thrown a more effortless, straight as an arrow, glide forever, and zero fade hyzer flip like a beat to sin cobra.

My friend and I were throwing in the field, and I grabbed his cobra that was at least 5 years old. I kind of chuckled at how beat it was, put it almost vertical on hyzer, and let it rip. Holy moly it was a thing of beauty. It just kept going and going and going. I could have tied fishing wire to the fence on the baseball field we were throwing to and it would have never left the line.

I threw it 5 more times, with the varying hyzer angles are varying arm speeds, and it just held the flip to flat the hole flight each time.

I am literally in awe of this single disc. I told him that under no circumstance is he to take that out of his bag. However if he does, I'm first in line to take it from him.

    Just wow.

This is the best midrange disc for beginners without a doubt. It flies very straight and is always reliable. For more experienced players, this is a great turnover midrange disc out of the box. Most people throw beat up rocs as their turnover discs, but if you don't want to wait for one of your more stable discs to be beat up to throw a turnover shot, then get a cobra.

This is a great disc to begin with,  even as a driver.  But it is easily replaced as you gain driving strength.  It is simply an approach disc for me now but I still love it since I have an ace with it.  If you want a nice S shape drive then this is a good disc to start with.

Like SD86 said, when thrown hyzer-flip it will glide straight for a long way and finish right late given enough altitude (RHBH). This is true for my 176g DX Cobra aswell, which makes it a really good alternative to forehand drives. Good for anhyzers.

I also have 2 Champion Cobras, which are more domey and a lot more stable. They are very much like a King Cobra, so you might aswell get the King Cobra.

This was my very first disc. And I still keep it in my bag and still throw it. It is a trustable disc that will hold whatever line you put it on. I use it primarily as an upshot disc where I don’t want ANY fade. This disc has hit countless things over the years, but ages very very well. I would recommend this disc to any beginning golfer who is looking for a disc to start with.

Came across a Cobra on sale that looked like it needed a good home.  It's a lightweight 150g, so heavier ones may act differently when thrown.  The rim of the Cobra reminds me a lot of the Discraft Stratus, which I also like.

I found that I can overpower this Cobra if I throw it full-strength, and my RHBH throw will turn hard to the right almost as if it were a RHFH or LHBH throw(!).  Ergo, I'm trying it out on dogleg-rights with some success.  If I throw it firmly but not too hard, it glides very nicely and gets distance that I'd consider good for a speed 5 or 6 disc, and it goes very straight to slightly understable.  I'm finding it to be very useful on wooded/technical courses.

The Cobra is a useful disc that I'd commend to beginners to try out.

Beginner's wet dream. Stable as heck and if you can find one in champ plastic it's awesome to say the least. Great for rollers and placement shots. Keep one champ and one dx in the bag, the dx beats in perfectly and both can handle a large spike hyzer line for chasing the chains over trees/objects.
