This is a great upshot disc. I love the way it feels in the hand too. Slightly smaller diameter than a standard disc. It is also a bit more shallow than most putters. I putt with a Gateway Wizard and had also done up shots with the same disc. However the Classic Roc seems more effective for upshot's and when it hits the ground it sits.
    Cool disc highly recommended.
Flight numbers seem accurate. Slow speed w a bit of glide. No turn and a little fade to finish.

The "Classic Roc" is a remake or a retool of the original '87 Roc mold. This mold was resurrected back in '95 when Innova moved their HQ to Ontario Cali. This Roc is fairly different than some of the other Roc's currently for sale in a few key ways. The first difference is that this Roc has a slightly smaller diameter. Many of the mid range discs that are put out today have a larger/wider flight plate to help increase the glide of these discs. So if you were to pick up this Classic Roc and a newer Roc, Roc+, or Roc 3, you would notice that it seems a little smaller. Second is the mold. There have been several different molds of the Roc over the years and the easiest way to identify when they were made or what mold it is, is to look at the bottom stamp (where Innova stamps the location it was made). Many of the first Roc's were stamped with San Marino on the bottom. The second mold was the Ontario, then the third is the Rancho. The Ontario Roc really does not fly much at all like other Roc's. This particular mold was slightly understable but noticeably less fade at the end of it's flight. This is good for hose mid range approach shots that you need to throw this disc on a very specific line and have it hold that line through it's flight. An example would be a RHBH thrower needing to throw a left to right "anhyzer" shot without the disc fading back out left at the end. This disc will do that while other Roc's would come back out with the healthy fade. The last noticeable characteristic is it's lack of glide. Because of the smaller flight plate this disc is a little less affected by wind when thrown and needs to have a little more power behind it to get it to go any amount of distance. But again, with some practice this disc can be very accurate due to it staying true to the line you put on it. I have an original "Wings an Rings" (due to the stamp on top) Roc that I love to pieces for it's history but to me, there is a reason why they made newer molds.

This disc was great in the 80's and decent in the mid 90's (when they reissued the Classic Roc), but nowadays there are some pretty fantastic mid ranges that simply out preform this disc. If you want to own a reissued piece of DG history, love the Roc, or want a decent midrange with minimal glide this disc is for you. Otherwise I would skip this disc and look into a Lat 64 Fuse.

Autumn, 1999. I had just been introduced to the wonderful sport of disc golf. The local Rite-aid was the only place to get discs. I bought three discs, and only one of those remained in my bag for long... ROC. It turned out it was a great mid for a beginner, but it stayed valuable as my skill level grew. It flies true and carves predictably. When it came time to retire it, I had to replace the old ROC with a new Classic ROC. It May not be my go to midrange, but it is always in my bag. If you are looking for a solid midrange disc, look to the Classic ROC. Still not sure? Ask your buddies. Chances are, one or more of them have a ROC.

For some reason the Classic Roc seems to bounce through the chains a lot for me. I don't think it's smaller than any other disc, it just seems that way, and the dominess of it just feels wierd for a putter. It's a pretty good approach disc, but I don't use it for putts.
