I use my Avatar all the time. It flies true with a bit of end fade, which is great. I find it even has a bit more glide than its flight numbers give it credit for, which helps my game a lot. I do agree with others though, how the overmold dimples are an odd feeling in the hand. I usually have to grip it more than once to be comfortable. Overall an excellent stable mid!

I understand and agree with the reviews mentioning the manufacturing defects. There are definitely indentations where the two parts of the mold fit together. But I'll be damned if this disc isn't my favorite midrange! I was bagging a Star Mako3 and this quickly overtook it. I throw it for just about any shot between 200-300 feet. It flies so straight and is just downright easy to control. I also don't think it fades nearly as hard as the flight path indicates. Love this disc.

One thing for sure, with its double mold rim the Innova Avatar looks really cool.

It has a nice grippy rim and a consistent stable flying flight. The flat top makes the Avatar useful for both backhand and forehand throws. Other than the different feeling plastics from the double mold, the Avatar feels just like the Innova Lion.

So why do I give the Avatar only a three star rating?

I just don't like the way the injection mold combines the flight plate with the outer rim. It creates 4 different bump points right where you grip the disc. While it's possible to fit my hand between the different grip points for the normal throw grip, I usually don't get it right with my first grab and have to reposition the disc to fit more comfortably in my hand. During my natural, disc grabbing routine, I reposition the disc and make my final grip as I reach back. If I don't grab it in the right spot, one of the spots where my fingers don't hit the Atlas point, then I think about it during my throw and it usually doesn't turn out very good as I lose focus concentrating on something that I don't have to with other disc golf discs.

Does the overmold technology change the flight of the disc? Probably a little bit. But is that change better? Not for me when touching the combine points messes up throwing routine.

If you like good looking discs and don't mind 4 bumps on the bottom rim, then the Avatar is a solid midrange that you will probably like.

I like the Avatar as an overmold addition to the Innova line-up, though it flies quite similar to some other Innova mids (not necessarily reinventing the wheel). It has a moderate end-fade, which is my preference for my mids. It handles torque well and goes straight quite a way before it finishes with that fade, flying very similar to my go-to Infinite Discs RA mid-range.

It does fade out more than the Atlas, so if you think this is just another Atlas, you'll be happy to know that it is more overstable and will add to your overmold bag nicely. The stamp looks good, though I instandly thought of Disney's Aladdin when I saw it at a glance-- but the art has represtations of all of the Innova mid-range discs worked into the artwork. There was a lot of detail and thought that went into the colorful design. Five stars for flight and looks!

I write this with the caveat that I have not actually thrown it yet, but wanted to concur with some other reviewers that I was completely disappointed with the quality of this disc. After using MVP disc, the overmold feels cheap and the pins keeping it in place leave odd dimples on the flight plate and honestly feel like they will pop out on the first tree you hit. The stamp has all the quality of a bootleg DVD cover. I know the stamp has no effect on the disc, but its the first thing you see and it doesn't fill you with hope for the rest of the product. Perhaps when i finally throw it I will be amazed, but it will take a while for me to throw it with the confidence that it won't just break.

I don't get the point of this disc. It is basically an Innova Shark, just with an overmold, and a crummily made one at that.

I was at the store the other day, and all 6 of the Avatars they had, had massive dimples on the top where the "pins" are at. I love the Atlas (my straight mid of choice), and the Nova (my putter of choice), and the pins usually don't bother me at all, but on every single Avatar, the pins were a giant dimple on the top, which makes the grip surface weird as you can feel it no matter where you grip the disc. I ended up getting the least dimpled one to try.

As stated at the beginning, this basically flies like a Shark. It's right between a Roc and a straight mid. I would rather go with a Shark for that shot as well since that is a much more comfortable disc. I dont know what slot Innova was trying to fill, but to me this just feels like a dud. There is already one of their discs that fills the slot, and that disc doesn't look like it was just slapped together in a hurry.

If you want a Shark with a cool looking stamp (please keep doing this from now on Innova), sure, buy this, but you could also buy an anniversary edition Shark.

    I love this disc!

I was a huge fan of the Atlas, but recently found myself finding it too flippy and not torque resistant at all. Was really looking forward to the release of the Avatar to maybe address those problems

This disc is flies very, very straight with a reliable slow fade at the end. When I throw this RHBH, I can usually get a good hyzer flip into a gentle right turn that holds forever, into a slow, slow fade back left.

When thrown hyzer, it holds that angle till it hits the ground. It fights any change in angle, which is impressive and makes the disc surprisingly easy to shape shots and control.

When thrown an-hyzer, it will hold the angle, but slowly stable out and return to flat before hitting the ground.

This disc is great for all players, as the control ability is outrageous.

This beaded grip adds so much to this disc, absolutely love how it feels in my hands.

Can't wait to show it off to my friends!

I enjoyed this disc, mostly. Its an easy disc to throw, and it is pretty reliable.

This seemed like a pretty typical stable disc. Throwing it was pretty easy to throw how I wanted it to. Easy to put on anhyzer line, hyzer line, or straight line. These lines could be extreme or mild. I would use a different disc for the extreme hyzer/anhyzer lines though, simply because those ones would be more reliable than a in-the-middle disc.

The feel of this disc is pretty comfortable, except for the protrusions on the bottom of the face plate. I think it is the over mold injection site. If it weren't for those, I would give this disc a four star rating. I would feel them upon release, which is what bothers me. If I only felt it while griping it, then it wouldn't be a problem as you can change where you grip it. That's not the case though, I felt it far more frequently than I would like upon release.

Throwing a Star Mix plastic at 4,400 ft in Utah. To me, 5 stars = incredible disc 4 stars = good & dependable disc. I don't give out too many 5 star ratings.

I got my Avatar in the mail today and took it out for a couple rounds.  I played this disc on most every shot so I could get the best idea of it.  I think my overall review is positive, this disc fits into a slot right between a Mako3 and a Roc3.  I think it flys very similar to an Innova Lion or maybe a slightly beat in Discraft Wasp.  I could really feel the glide a lot more than the finish fade.  It flew relatively straight with a bit of turn and had a very soft finish at the end.  It didn't have much stability for off axis torque which means at higher speeds it will really show you if your form is up to snuff.  Because of the lack of OAT I was not able to get very many good forehand shots out of this disc, and I'll probably never forehand the Avatar, but rather use another disc for that type of shot.

Very beginner friendly because I think the glide and stability would be great for new players with slower arm speeds.  The lack of OAT will help new players hone in on their releases very quick, but at the same time, with slow speeds this disc will be pretty forgiving.

This thing flies exactly like a Teebird. Give it all you got with slight hyzer, and it will go straight forever. It will fade at the end but still pushes forward and doesn't dump. It flies further than my rocs, with less effort in my opinion.
