    Platinum Details

Evolution Platinum is a fantastic ultra premium plastic blend by Gateway. The plastic offers a unique metallic shine that not only looks good, but it is also incredibly grippy and flexible (you can literally fold a Evo-P disc). This plastic blend is especially recommended for playing disc golf when it's cold outside.

This is a really nice overstable 12 speed driver.  The Spell feels very comfortable in the hand and the plastic (I have one Platinum and one Cobalt) feels great, with good grip, firm, but with a little give.  Both of my Spells have some dome with the Platinum one being flatter and the Cobalt having a little bit of a pop top.  What I like about this disc compared to some other fast overstable 12 speeds, is that while it has a strong finish it's not a beefy brick.  It has very good glide and tends to finish with a nice skip forward at the end of its flight.  Even though it has strong fade, it's not fighting immediately out of the hand so I find it will hold an anhyzer angle for a good amount of time before reliably fading.   This makes it great for big flex shots..  It flies very well in the wind and feels great for my forehand shots.  My Platinum Spell flies a little more overstable than the domier Cobalt one, I use the Cobalt one for long distance flex shots and the Platinum one for hyzers, forhand flexes, and dogleg shots where I need the fade and skip.

This is, far and away, the best overstable 12 speed disc on the market. Better than your Halo Destroyers, because you're not the guy whose name is on the stamp. Better than the Discraft Force because you're not Paul McBeth. BUT, you can throw this disc on the same lines as those pros even with your amateur arm speed. It's that good. I feel like Ezra Aderhold throwing a Nuke OS 400 feet when I throw this disc. It matches the pro's overstable distance driver line with amateur arm speed, all while STILL holding up to the wind and maintaining a straight flight with a strong finish.

This is the very first overstable distance driver that will push and glide far for slower arm speeds and still fight wind. It's not an overstable disc that's beat in to fly straight with some turn. It resists the wind and still flies far. It seems to defy any expectation of an overstable disc by still flying so far. I can forehand a Blade/Firebird/Raptor type disc without any turn on a flat line about 300-320 feet. I can push the same flat line with a Spell up to 380-390 feet. Give it a touch of anhyzer and it'll blow my previous max distance away at over 400 feet.

Platinum plastic Spells, which are similar to a soft Innova Star plastic, start out true to 12/5/0/3 and will beat in somewhat quickly to get some turn. Cobalt plastic, which is glossy with a stiff rim and flexible flight plate, will have more dome and glide and be closer to 12/5/-0.5/3 out of the box, but maintain that stability longer. Diamond Hemp blends will be a bit flatter and start at 12/5/-1/3 and beat in a bit more quickly than other blends. Diamond Superglow will be a bit gummy and match Cobalt's flight and resist beating in, and Diamond will maintain 12/5/0/3 and beat in more slowly as a stiffer translucent plastic tends to. Each run seems to be just as consistent as the last with these. Gateway is erasing their "putter only" reputation and becoming a force with all of their new drivers on the market.
