Element Discs introduces their first mid-range disc with the Lithium. This stable mid-range disc has a shallow rim and flat flight plate. The unique convex rim feels wonderful in the hand and creates a quick-release effect when sending the disc into flight.

The Lithium is a very versatile disc for advanced players. It provides players with surprising distance and a light fade upon approach. This disc responds well to turnover shots and can also hold a predictable line before releasing its light fade. Players with slower arms will find the Lithium easy to throw with it's straight flying characteristics.

This is a very good beginner disc, it's under-stable to stable, and it should be a great disc to begin to learn to throw flat and straight consistently!  I will post a video review soon for flight characteristics, but I learned how to throw a forehand shot with this disc, and I'm very much looking forward to recommending this disc to anyone trying to learn the same :)

My initial thought of this disc was not positive and that because I couldn't get it to do what I wanted it to do.  I let the flight numbers dictate how I was trying to throw this disc and it wasn't working.  But with some more work I found it to be a good disc.   Though it is understable, it's not nearly as much as it claims.  When I found that sweet hyzer angle, it would flip up flat and just cruise straight with a slight fade. More hyzer I learned that this disc wouldn't flip up flat but would fly with a nice consistent hyzer angle.  As for the Terra Firma plastic gets beat up pretty bad in the north east woods so for that I am not a fan, but I don't really care for much baseline plastic.  The positive though is it has great grip.  On a second try of field testing early in the morning, the disc got wet from the dew on the grass, but still had great grip.  Even though this disc won't make my bag because it doesn't replace anything I already love, this is a great disc.  If you're a beginning player or just have a slower arm speed like myself, this may be a really good disc for you.  Added bonus though is the Element periodic symbol stamp is awesome looking and this may be the best disc my 4 year old has ever thrown.

The disc feels pretty great in the hand! The flat top and shallow rim was very comfortable to throw.

As for the flight, the disc liked to flip over. I threw a couple accidental rollers with it at first with just a flat release. After adding some hyzer the disc flipped to flat and kept drifting to the right (thrown RHBH). It didn't seem to have as much glide as other mids but I did have to throw it with less power so that might have prevented it from gliding further.

My favorite shot to throw with this disc ended up being a touch forehand. I got way more glide out of the disc this way with some slight fade.

I would highly recommend this to a beginner as it won't take much arm speed to throw and feels great in the hand.

For more experienced throwers, I feel this disc turns just a bit too much to be a reliable under stable/turnover mid however it would make a great get out of trouble or glidey forehand mid.

The feel of the Lithium is rather unique. It is flat topped, with a very smooth edge and rim. The shallow rounded feel of this disc is rather nice and it certainly comes out clean. That is about where my praise for the Lithium ends.

I found this disc way more flippy than advertised. Even with a steep hyzer angle, it flipped on me. I backed off the power, and still was flippy. I have a few other people throw it as well, flippy for them as well. The one nice throw I felt I had with it, I put it on a sharp hyzer, it flipped up for a bit, then sailed left on me and never even thought about fighting back.

It is marked as Midrange and Putter, but it doesnt quite behave like either. It certainly isn't a slightly US mid like a Comet, and its not as smooth sailing as a US Putter like a Wedge. I'd recommend both of those over the Lithium any day.

I found the Lithium to be a pretty fun disc. It has a lot of glide, and the flight pattern is definitely workable for a putter-midrange type disc. It reminded me a lot of my XT Colt with a little added glide. The Lithium acted like a fairly stable disc, but once I raised my arm speed and put a little bit of power behind it, It would get flippy and turnover a little bit. I don't think this disc is understable because I never really flipped it too hard, but I could definitely get it to hold a turnover line. In the end I would call this disc neutral.

I was, ALMOST a fan of the feel of the disc. It is really close to being a really comfortable disc, but just didn't quite make it there for me. It feels decent in the hands, and definitely has a very shallow rim.

I think this disc is great for someone that wants to learn how to throw a putter or midrange straight. Many people struggle with the straight shot, and this disc can teach you that. If you can't make this disc go straight, you're not being smooth or overpowering the disc. It would be a great introduction to that type of shot.

I took the Lithium disc out for a game and used only this single disc for a nine-hold course. The course has all shorter holes between 150-200 feet, so it was a perfect disc choice. The disc stamp currently says "Putt & Approach" though I wouldn't say it is necessarily designed as a putter. It is very solid as a mid-range approach disc. First of all, I threw a 170g disc in Terra Firma Blend plastic, and the feel of the disc is very comfortable. There are absolutely no sharp edges.  Both the outer edge of the rim and inside the disc, where the rim meets the plate, are smooth and comfortable on the fingers. It releases very smoothly.  This disc can fly as straight as an arrow when thrown flat and low, landing right on target within that 100-200 foot range. When thrown harder, it pulls to the understable side. When thrown higher, it has a gentle fade. You can release with more power if you throw with a hyzer release, and the disc will keep that overstable hyzer line.

All in all, the Lithium flies exactly as you'd hope-- the player is in complete control of that flight. Nothing about the disc's characteristics get in the way. I would say that I'd rate this mid-range right in there with my long-loved Buzzz.  The plastic is a bit softer, and since I also did some putting with the Lithium, the chains did leave scuff marks on the plastic. I could see this plastic losing the battle against hard obstacles (pavement, rocks, etc.), but it sure feels nice in the hand.

My 11-year-old daughter also gave it a couple rips, and it was perfect for her arm speed, flying further than some of the light-weight drivers she's been using. It is a very beginner-friendly disc, and not a bad starting place for those getting a feel for throwing disc golf discs.
