The Guard is a beadless putter from Dynamic Discs. It has tons of glide to give your putts the extra length they need! The Guard is a very straight putter, but can also handle a bit of torque if thrown off the tee. The Guard has a deeper profile.

A somewhat underrated disc that is one of my faves. The deep dish makes it glidey but in my opinion to deep for forehands and maybe not ideal for those with small hands. I have several which are rotated in the bag and used for throwing putters when its calm or in a tailwind.

I just got this putter, may update this review once I get past the "Initial Impressions" phase...if I remember.

It's definitely floaty, for better or worse. Two things popped in my mind when I bought it: 1) I might have finally found a *putting* (not throwing) putter, and 2) I bet this will roll for days.

The jury's still out on both counts. I feel like the turn is a little lower than stamped, but that could just be due to the classic plastic I got it in.

I swear though, this disc brings the pizza putt back. Try it without smiling, I dare you. (#gogoturboputt)

What I like about it is how it holds a line. I know which direction it's going to travel when I put some angle on it, and the lack of fade results in high predictability, even in wind. I don't have a low-speed forehand, so discs like these are almost worth bagging for their ability to take an anhyzer angle like a blade of grass between the teeth and trot boldly off into the sunset, never looking back. (Going to need to find some sweet Desperado tracks queued up just for those moments)

What I don't like about it is how susceptible it is to quick fade during high-power rolls. It rolls very well, on flat ground, but if you try to give it some extra push for bumpy terrain, it turns and "ferns" hard. I'm learning to modulate my rolls a bit better as a result, so it might just end up being an excellent trainer, time will tell.

It's definitely a throwing putter for me so far. I say that because the glide tends to lift it up and over the basket or smacks it into the headband more often than not when I push putt it. If I have lots of low obstacles or the type of terrain that will send a disc rolling prematurely, I can count on the glide and the lack of turn or fade to get me out on the line I put it on, far.

Though sometimes too far; it's easy to miscalculate my power with this disc, too.

Get this if you need some lift, but not at the expense of straight lines or angle sensitivity. Also get this if you're the type of beginner who has your angles figured out before developing power, or if you just want a nice, straight, floaty drive out of a low-power disc from a standstill. 200'-300' drives with this is well within the realm of possibility, in the right hands.

This Guard was an interesting disc for me. It surprised me with the amount of glide I was noticing with this disc on drives and on putts. I could throw this thing with a lot less power and get it to go just as far as other discs that I was throwing hard. This was a very flippy driving putter for me but if you can control it, it will give you a really nice controllable and far flying putter because of the glide. For putting it was really nice because you could have a nice consistent release and know this won't drop out of the air early, if anything it will glide too far and go past the basket. I really enjoyed it for long putts that are in the 80-100 ft because I don't feel like I have to put a lot of power to get it to the basket. The major problem I have with this disc is how it feels. I do not like the deep feel of the putter and the rim feels to thin for my liking. This putter just never felt right in my hands and I have pretty large hands so it kinda surprised me.

I picked up this putter initially for throwing because I heard it would be a great straight flying disc. And that is very true! Holds a straight line very far with little fade at the end of the flight. Sometimes no fade at all.

I now putt with them as well. I switched from the Warden over to this. I can rely on this to stay straight longer all the way to the basket from farther putts. I love this putter and so glad I made the switch.

I was at the local store when these came out and it felt great in my hand from the start, so I really wanted to add it to the bag. After a few rounds of using it as a RHBH approach disc, I  found it to be subpar to my Star Dart and less predictable. So it went on the shelf of bad choices.

Recently I switched my forehand grip from stacking my two fingers on the rim to a more traditional side-by-side on the flight plate. This has really opened up my disc selection on forehands because I no longer have to worry about my fingers getting caught in the rims of putters and mids. So I got the Guard back out and holy cow, what a difference. Now I know why so many people like to throw Pigs/Suspects/Harps. Even better, because the Guard is more stable and has way more glide than the Suspect, it gives me far more control and more options. This disc is going to get a lot of work this summer.

The only con for the Guard is that the glide can get you in trouble if you are not careful, but it has a very soft landing. Once you figure out how to dial it in, you will find yourself reaching for this disc over and over.

When I tried the Guard, I honestly didn't know what it was supposed to do. My very first impression was, woah, glide! I missed my putt, like always, and it soared on past the basket and held with perfectly straight glide.

It's deep in the hand, and honestly I thought it would be a brick, but it is not. Once I figured out how glidey it is and how it just floats with ease, I started making more putts with it. I think this is an awesome putter, it reminds me of the Lat Macana in some ways. I'm not used to so much glide, so it'll take some work, though.

If you like deep dish putters with tons of glide, this might be the one for you.

I got a first run 174g Classic (hard) Guard. I used to throw a Dagger and as soon as I picked up this disc it reminded me of the Dagger but without the bead. It is VERY deep dish! To the point where it's a little hard for me to get a comfortable putting grip. I tried putting with it for a few rounds and kinda liked because it has really nice glide and it's really straight but ultimately putter selection is about what's comfortable and switched back to my Warden. I think the flight numbers are spot on, no turn, very little fade and, like I said, very nice glide. I threw some approaches with a fan grip and had some good results. I feel like it lands very softly so the disc isn't going do much after hitting the ground. So, my conclusion is that it's a fine disc, just doesn't fit my hands super well. If you like a deep dish putter, definitely check it out.

I was searching for a new close range putter and decided to give this a shot along with a dagger since they both have the same flight numbers. What I experienced was the dagger and the guard do not share the same flights. The guard for me was straight as and arrow but was failing to glide far enough to hit chains. I would still recommend it, just wasn't the disc for me

The rim on the Guard felt a bit different to me. I'm more accustomed to a beaded putter and this one is beadless. But I think that the feel was mostly because the bottom of the rim seemed to curve inward more dramatically than other putters I've tried. It is basically a beadless Dagger, which is a popular putter for those who put with a bit more force / speed. The Guard isn't really a glidey disc, but I would say it has a little more glide than the Dagger and is less overstable. It's another nice variation for the already strong putter entourage at Dynamic Discs (has great putters like the Judge, Deputy, and Warden). It remains to be seen how much this one will catch on over the long term. I think the unique rim feel may make it stand out. Its flight is pretty neutral and serviceable for beginners (it won't exaggerate the turn or fade much at all).

This is essentially a beadless Lat64 Dagger.  Pretty floaty at putting speeds, I find myself hitting high on the basket with both of these discs when I'm mindlessly alternating between various putting molds.  Towards the edge of Circle 1 is where these putters shine: throwing low / under-committing is less of an issue, especially when thrown nose-up.

Numerically it doesn't match the Dagger exactly (Guard is slightly deeper, slightly thinner rim, listed as slightly less stable), but I'm not able to feel any meaningful difference aside from the plastic and bead.  All that said, I prefer the bead of the Dagger as it gives my index finger a consistent place to rest.
