The Cataclysm, by Doomsday Discs, is inevitable. Something big is coming and there's no stopping it. But in the meantime, this is a slightly overstable driver that can be handled by players at all levels. It has a comfortable rim configuration for easy release and control.

I don't know if it was something about the run of discs that ended up in the Doomsday Prepper pack, but my experience with the Cataclysm has not been quite the same as others accordingly to their reviews: The turn ratings of the Cataclysm and the Dystopia seemed reversed between them -- i.e., they fly more as if they had the other disc's turn number. Despite the slightly slower speed, I couldn't ever get the same straight flight with the Dystopia as with the Cataclysm; in fact I never got any true turn over from it at all even into the wind. It flew more like my Destroyer while the Cataclysm is more like my Wave, even though the flight numbers of each match better with the opposite disc. (The MVP Wave has been one of my favorite drivers for the past 2-3 years, so I'm happy to have another disc that gives me a similar flight pattern and distance.) Be that as it may, now that I know that about them, I can use them both profitably: Both discs fly well and consistently, and the Survival plastic feels good & durable -- like Star/S-Blend. No signs of wear or altered, beat-in flight patterns yet after a couple of days of field work with them (which can't be said about the set's base-grade putter). One oddity about the yellow plastic of the Cataclysm I got is that it bled over onto the white Bleak putter being packaged together, giving me an oddly stained white putter right out of the box; also, it seems to now have permanent thumbprint stains like I've seen with base-grade discs, but not until now with the more premium plastics.

    Pros:

    Pretty Glidey

Very manageable levels of stability for people new to distance drivers

    Cons:

Shattered a pane glass window doing field work

would give 4 stars if it missed the window.

For me personally I find it as a solid driver. It feels great in my hand and has a great flight path, handles well in moderate wind and is made in great plastic. Overall I'm very impressed by this disc

This disc BOOOOMBS, it surprised me how far it goes. usually im not super great at 11 speeds, but this one for some reason just likes to go. the feel is good, fells like a star ish plastic, has a nice amount of turn and reliable fade at the end. i use it for forehands, and it does well.

I am a sponsored player with Doomsday so i may display a bit of bias.

The cataclysm is the first disc from doomsday that I am excited to bag.  I have used some of their niche discs as well as their lineup of PDGA approved discs.  The first drivers were awkward in the hand and inconsistent in flight patterns.  I could get them to go very far, but I didn't have a space in my bag for them.  The cataclysm changed that for me.

I currently bag 6 Infinite Discs Emperors in various plastics for all of my distance drivers.  The next disc down is an infinite discs scepter.  At times, I have thrown the Infinite discs aztec and dynasty neither had the predeictable fade that i needed for that slot in my bag.  The Cataclysm hs been exactly what i was looking for.

I can throw the Cataclysm flat as trust it to turn and fade,  If I throw it on a soft hyzer, it will flip to flat, drift and fade.  If i throw it on a steep hyzer, it can flip to just shy of flat and continue pushing forward while it drifts horizontally.  I can throw it backhand or forehand and trust the flight.

For slower arm speeds, the Cataclysm will be a good, predictable overstable disc.  For faster arms, this disc will carve some fairways with superior glide and a unique flight pattern.  It feels very similar to an innova wraith with more glide.
