The Leviathan is an easy-to-throw midrange disc that works perfectly for new players as a go-to option for minimal fade. It is a very understable, slow-speed disc which means that it is very fade-resistant. If a new disc golfer wants only one disc to get them started, the Leviathan is a great choice. This is one of the best disc golf discs for beginners

    Max Grip Details

Divigent Max Grip Plastic is one of the grippiest disc golf plastic blends on the market. It combines a soft feel with excellent grip for comfort and top notch performance. The grip compares with popular K1 plastic by Kastaplast with durability similar to the original Discraft X plastic. Max Grip plastic discs tend to have more dome than the same mold in different plastic versions.

This is one of my favorite discs in my bag. It's super understable, easy to throw a hyzer flip or roller with, and can get quite the distance even with a slow throw.

This has become my go-to disc for straighter slow throws or big turns to the right for 250+ ft throws.

I got several Max Grip discs for Christmas to flesh out my Divergent set and weather has finally enabled me to get out and start doing some field work to test them out. A couple things that struck me at once were how favorably different these Max Grip discs felt compared to the ones I had gotten last spring, making me wonder if I got a bit of bad batch on sale last year: These feel decidedly (and more pleasantly) grippier and seem to have a bit more give to them -- i.e., the earlier ones I had seemed a mite stiff and would give a rather wonky sounding klunk & bounce when hitting the ground at an angle. The Leviathan feels good in the hand and releases cleanly. The numbers seem about right to me: It is very understable, and once turning or even just veering off in the turn direction, I really didn't notice much of any fade back at the end. Even with a tailwind and significant hyzer release, it tended to veer well of to the right through its flight. I had to either increase the hyzer angle or take more power off the throw (or both) to get much a straight path. Hzyer throws into even a slight headwind sent this turning over significantly and rolling, unless it got popped up in the air and then careened way off to the side. This happened a few times, zooming off into a parking lot and another time into a telephone pole; however, for all the speed coming down from up high and hitting hard rough surfaces, the disc doesn't show much wear, so maybe that bodes well for the durability of the Max Grip. Definitely a step up from the DX-type grades. I tend to favor the higher grade plastics for their durability, but we'll see how well the Max Grip holds up over the course of a full season.

this disc isn't  bad but very understable. Took a few throws to get adjusted to disc and approach to course. Now I use this on certain short basket courses.

Understable. Old school feeling wing but not very wide diameter. This thing wanted to flip over but still felt controllable. It turned but it didn't divebomb over. However, there was virtually no glide. Ok, there was glide but certainly not what you would expect from an understable midrange. The Narwhal flew farther for me on most shots. Not too bad. Didn't make my bag but I will keep an eye on this company. The plastic feels very nice and flips up well but I already bag Kastaplast Svea and can't let it go haha. This probably feels better in hand for most people than Svea

Purchased one of these as a 50+ year old new disc golf player after learning what the various flight numbers mean and gaining a better understanding of what types of discs are beginner friendly.

When developing proper technique and increasing arm speed early on (during the time my max distance with any disc was about 100 feet) this disc was a god send for a disc that would go straight when released on a flat angle. It became the disc I could throw the farthest and the only disc I could get to turn on an anhyzer angle and not fade out immediately.

As my technique and arm speed have improved (at the time of this writing, my max distance has improved to 250 - still below average) this disk turns more/is more under stable.  If I release it with just a touch too much anhyzer, it will turn hard, crash into the ground, and cut-roll.  I'm now using it to learn how to throw backhand rollers. Flat releases give me a nice, long, gentle turn which make it great for slight doglegs left.  Given the change in the behavior of the disk as my arm speed has increased (the disc is not that beat in) I suspect players with faster arm speed would find this disc to be super unstable and maybe not usable as anything beyond a roller disc.

The plastic is soft, grippy, and flexible - feels good in the hand.

I would definitely recommend this disc to new players. I went on to buy a second one in case I lose the first one. While I don't suspect this disc will have a normal place in my bag a year from now, it will always hold a special place in my heart as I made my first birdie with this disk, throwing it 10 feet from the basket on a 250 foot par 3.

The leviathan is a very understable midrange. Feels great in the hand and flies very well. Very affordable. A great disc for beginners. It's become a staple In my bag for my local wooded course.

The Leviathan is understable in the best way. When thrown flat, I can see it being a great disc for beginners. With a hyzerflip, this disc just carries downfield. I was surprised how long it kept flying and saw a really nice fade at the end. Overall, I'm very impressed with the Leviathan, and can recommend it as an awesome beginner midrange, or useful utility disc for approach shots.

The numbers don't lie, if you have good form, this thing turns and doesn't stop when thrown flat. I didn't want to rely on a forehand for right fading shots and thus bought this guy and it can take a right hand turn like none other(RHBH). First throw shot out a good 80 to 100 ft straight and flipped to a good 30 degree angle and shot straight right 80 ft without any change in disc angle. Never saw anything like it. I bought it for uphill shots that i want to turn consistently but haven't been in that situation yet and my test throw was on flat ground. This will be a utility disc or roller for anyone past beginner.

The plastic on these discs is amazing, very slick and shiny with enough gummy feel for grip but not enough to lose stability.

Throwing Max Grip plastic at 4,400 ft in Utah. To me, 5 stars = incredible disc 4 stars = good & dependable disc. I don't give out too many 5 star ratings.

The Leviathan is definitely the most understable of the three. Making it really easy to throw and get decent distance. As time progressed I have enjoyed this disc as a roller. It just works so well as one, I like it a lot. It is still in my bag at the moment.

The feel of the plastic is pretty great! Honestly, probably the best base plastic out there. It has a good grip to it, and it can take a little bit more damage than other base plastic. The grip on this disc is pretty typical to a midrange. I prefer flicking this disc, that forehand grip is the most comfortable for me.

Overall, a great understable midrange. I'm recomending this to almost anyone for a fun disc to try out.

So this is a very understable disc and even with an intermediate arm, it is too understable to tee off with.  Hyzer? Who cares! On RHBH it'll always go right!

But I love it and it is in my bag for now because it is one hell of a scramble shot. If I'm 150 ft away with the basket uphill, I have two real choices, an overstable fairway on RHFH... Or the Leviathan on a RHBH. My local course is very hilly, so this kind of shot is actually fairly common for me.

Should I develop a stronger scramble forehand? Yes.

But wow, the leviathan just makes it effortless to go RHBH and let it consistently anhyzer out.

I absolutely love understable mids and the Leviathan is even more understable than them all. This is such a fun disc to throw and is so good for beginners. For low power players this disc just goes straight, which is such a hard thing for new disc golfers to do.

For a midrange this is a very low profile disc with a thin rim. I find it most similar to the DGA Tremor.

The plastic feel of the Divergent Discs is outstanding, I absolutley love the grip of it and find it most similar to the grippiness of Kastaplast, however, this plastic isn't quite as durable. For the price, this plastic is a great value.

If you throw more than about 200 feet in distance, this probably isn't the disc for you except for in certain situations. I use the Leviathan on a hole where I need to throw up over a tree and then still have the disc turn right but not then fade too much as it slows down at a nose up angle.
