The Kapre is the ideal straight-flying midrange with a lot of glide and minimal side-to-side movement. It can be used with great accuracy on the fairway and will stay under control for tunnel shots and narrow flight paths.

    Max Grip Details

Divigent Max Grip Plastic is one of the grippiest disc golf plastic blends on the market. It combines a soft feel with excellent grip for comfort and top notch performance. The grip compares with popular K1 plastic by Kastaplast with durability similar to the original Discraft X plastic. Max Grip plastic discs tend to have more dome than the same mold in different plastic versions.

I got several Max Grip discs for Christmas to flesh out my Divergent set and weather has finally enabled me to get out and start doing some field work to test them out. Overall I've been very pleased with the whole selection of their discs. A couple things that struck me at once were how favorably different these Max Grip discs felt compared to the ones I had gotten last spring, making me wonder if I got a bit of bad batch on sale last year: These feel decidedly (and more pleasantly) grippier and seem to have a bit more give to them -- i.e., the earlier ones I had seemed a mite stiff and would give a rather wonky sounding klunk & bounce when hitting the ground at an angle. I like how the Kapre feels in the hand and releases from my grip; and I've no complaints about how it flies (the numbers seem about right to me). It flies straight and level. Into the wind, it didn't turn over, but stayed level while veering bit by bit to the right (RHBH); with a tailwind, it was pretty much a mirror image -- nice level flight that gently moved toward the left. I get pretty good distance with it without too much fade at the end, finishing straighter than many discs do. I tend to favor the higher grade plastics for their durability, but we'll see how well the Max Grip holds up over the course of a full season. I did have the very understable Max Grip Leviathan get popped up and turned over in the wind a couple times and go careening off into a parking lot and another time into a telephone pole, and for all the speed coming down from up high and hitting hard rough surfaces, it doesn't show much wear; so that bodes well for the durability of the Max Grip. Definitely a step up from the DX-type grades.

One of the two putters I have in my bag at the moment.  Straight flight and sticks to the chains!

I recently picked up this disc when I saw it in the new disc list on the website.  The price point was hard to beat and I wanted a mid with a little more turn than what was in my bag.  So far, I really like this disc... particularly for throwing slight anhyzer shots (right hand, back hand) around obstacles.  For me, this disc will have a nice turn right out of the hand when thrown with a little anhyzer before straigtening out and finishing dead straight for the rest of the flight.  I reach for this disc when I want to go left around an obstacle but still have the disc finish right of center.  This disc has great touch.

The plastic itself is surprisingly grippy and has a pretty sheen to it.  The disc has some dome to it and the "heartbeat" when pressed from the top.  It has a lightweight, almost toy like feel to it.. but make no mistake this is a disc that wants to fly.  I'm not sure I'd reach for this disc in a lot of wind, but for some shot shaping in the woods this has been a great disc so far.

This disc is a larger diameter disc and has a really good feel in the hand. There is slight dome to it and it feels similar to a Mako. It flies very straight with minimal fade. at slower speeds it can get some low speed fade to show up. The plastic is very grippy and even does well in the rain.

Pros: Great grip, normal disc flight (meaning it does what you would expect a disc to do, go straight).

Cons: Slight dome to it and there is a weird crease inside the rim of mine, seems to be some sort of manufacturing defect and I am sure it's not a regular occurance.

While most discs in the Divergent Line are specifically for beginners, the Kapre is a stable enough midrange that players of all skill level can use. For me, this disc is dead straight with very moderate forward penetrating fade.

The Kapre is a wide diameter mid and has a flight and feel very similar to the Innova Mako. The plastic is much softer, and almost bouncy. It has exceptional grip, almost like Kastplast. Where Divergent Discs can't be beat is the price. This really is a premium feeling disc at a base plastic price.

If you want a beginner friendly midrange that will continue to be useful as your game progresses try out the Divergent Discs Kapre.

This disc is awesome. It is more stable (at least right out of the box) than the numbers make it seem, and it glides for days. Divergent hit it out of the park with this one. Regardless of your skill range, this disc will work for you.
