I have loved the first rounds with my Hornets over the years.  After they break in, I don't love them as much.  These are good overstable mids, but they eventually become rather stable with a reliable, though lesser, fade.

I like these better than most overstable mids I've tried, and can also say they are one of my favorite Discraft discs. I don't like the buzz much, though it's a great disc and very popular.  I've never tried the buzzOS.  I had a hornet or two in my bag next to a  prodigy M1 for a while (until I lost them). They are almost identical in flight, maybe like an M2 with a touch more fade. These glide a little bit further for me.  I have recently bought several prodigy mids because I like the feel and longevity of their plastic, so I'll likely not buy a hornet again for a while.  But for several years, the hornet was happily my main mid.

I have learned that the Hornets are discontinued. That is too bad, and a surprise. I guess there are so many mids out there that fly similar this one didn't make the sale.  The market sure is saturated with awesome discs. What a good problem to have!

I got this disc when it was an ace race disc back in 2010 available in ESP plastic, so it may be slightly different now.

This disc was one that surprised me, I didn't think I would enjoy an ace race disc actually being in my bag but it made its way right away. I was very overstable, which was something that I needed at the time in a midrange disc. It didn't have the greatest amount of glide, but that is to be expected. My disc beat in over time to become a pretty flippy midrange, but still had enough fade to come back in hard.

The Hornet would be a great choice for overstable shots if Discraft didn't have a line of better discs already. If you are a fan of the Buzzz, this was a great overstable complement until the Buzzz OS came out and had a better feeling rim to it. The Zone is an even crazier overstable midrange which has that covered, so to me the hornet just doesn't have a home in the discraft line anymore unless someone likes the feel of the rim more than one of those other discs
