Update!  This is an update to my previous review.  I've now thrown this disc for almost a year, including through our Canadian snowy winter, playing 6 times a week in regular season, and 4 times a week in winter.

And while most discs would be retired by now, the Pteranodon has beaten in to it's actual numbers: 4 6 -2 1 , and I see myself continuing to use it for quite a while.  I just get so much more distance from this, than from a Buzzz.   The 6 glide is not an exaggeration.

    a better Buzzz , a better Comet:

I've recently purchased 2 Buzzzes, a Z and a BigZ, and the Buzzzes don't get anywhere near the same distance as the Pteranodon! (a good 20-30 feet less / 7-10m less).  While the Buzzz gives you a predictable flight, so does this, but with easy extra distance.

I don't use the Pteranodon for medium-range anhyzer shots - it's not designed for that and will fight out of it as much as a Roc would (get a Wombat3 for that purpose, and you won't be disappointed, I promise).

But I've used it successfully on shots I used a Shark for in the past.  Although beat-in to it's published numbers, you need to nose it up slightly for that - but you can get that fade if you want it.

Thrown flat, it turns a bit, and fades back, with a net straight flight, but with that dependable slight fade at the end to get it into the chains.  When new, it's more like a Shark, with a 0 2 flight, which is still awesome.

And you can shot-shape with it quite nicely.  Or do a shot that's too long for a putt and get it in the chains. Or do short drives easily.  It's just so predictable, reliable.  I'd say, any shot you can use a Buzzz or Comet for, you can use this, but get more distance with less effort.

    Highly recommend.

For me, this thing has only a slight hint of turn, a bit like a Wombat3, but after that, it fades significantly, like a Shark.

It will not hold an anhyzer at all, but, you can shot-shape, for example putting it onto an anhyzer line and see it fight out of it rather hard, giving you an S-curve.

It's rated 4 speed 6 glide, but I find that misleading: it's more like, it requires a 5 arm-speed to throw, and you're getting 4 glide at that speed and only a hint of a turn at all.

I'm now using it mostly to make the same sorts of shots that I once used a Shark for: tunnel-shot, with good fade at the end.  But I prefer it with a hint of a turn, as that controls when the fade starts to kick in - not too soon.

For me personally, this disc was a disappointment when I first got it: I had based my purchasing decision on the numbers, and yet, couldn't come close to them.  After weeks' of learning the disc, it becoming more intuitive, I finally got an ace with it and started to like it a lot more  =D lol

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Pteranodon, Caribou, Walrus are all the same mold, but through different plastics' varying shrink rates, obtain different flight numbers.

I find the nomenclature of their plastics confusing.  They call it 'Grip Performance', but in the text, refer to it as 'Ultra plastic'.  And then there's 'Ultra Performance'.  (ref: https://daredevildiscs.com/pteranodon/)    It's confusing, because Grip P. and Ultra P. are all that set a disc apart from being called a Caribou or a Pteranodon.   I suspect that they changed their plastics formulation since I bought mine, adding agents to vary the shrinkage.

I got a great deal on this used, so I don't know the original flight but it had little enough wear that I assume it was similar.

This is great for straight shots or slow turning shots to the right (RHBH). I don't get quite as much distance for the Pteranodon as with other midranges but is is really useful for certain shot shapes.

The Grip Performance plastic feels great, but it doesn't seem as durable as similarly priced plastics.

Just got one. This is the STRAIGHTEST mid-range disc I've thrown with the exception of the Comet.

The flight numbers are pretty accurate.  The glide is awesome. The fade is very slight.  I love discs that fly dead nuts straight. There's few of these out there. This is a great one. It's not a long range flyer, but perfect for 125-225 feet.

Daredevil plastic is really great, very grippy.

I highly recommend this disc to players of any skill level.
