The name “Epic” is a pun in two ways 1) It is named for being an epic disc that no other disc comes close to, and 2) It (more seriously) has an epicyclic design, which means the rim and weight is off-center. One side of the rim has a 2.5cm wing while the other side is 4cm wide. This disc has, by far, the widest PDGA approved wing. The Epic is the only disc which also requires “tuning”, where you actually bend the disc prior to the throw (yes, every throw). The bend which you apply to the disc actually transforms the flight of it, making it either overstable or understable. For this reason, the Epic is the only disc which can fit into all of those categories at the same time and may fly with either a hook or a slice – you choose. Also, for this reason, the flight ratings (10/4/-2/4) and reviews which are given about the Epic are not to be taken completely serious; your experience will vary. You will notice that while some disc golfers love the disc, others find that this disc lives up to its claim – it can fly further than any other disc. Not for everybody, but those who love it, swear by it. The Epic is typically thrown overhand, more like you would throw a baseball.

I saw a friend show up with this disc in his bag one random day. I was super new to Disc Golf at the time and he was hucking these huge tomahawks with it. The flight pattern/flipping is all kinds of crazy, I wont even try to apply any logical formula to it, but it got results.

It was such a ridiculous disc, I had to have one.

I had it in my bag for a few months before I eventually lost it. It does feel kind of gimmicky and I remember people ragging on me over it saying it wasn't gonna be PDGA legal soon (this was in 2011) but it's still here, with the PDGA stamp on it. I think others were salty because I was a gimp throwing tomahawks that were hanging with their distance drives and they had been playing for years compared to my few weeks. It was pretty funny.

Just ordered another one for nostalgia. Cant wait to make some more memories with this black sheep of a disc. Definitely not something to rely on or improve your game much, but I promise there will come a time where it will surprise you and prove its worth in your bag....and provide some laughs.

To those who bash this disc....for shame, you must just suck at thumbers/tomahawks. It does just what I want, it will finish left, right or straight pending on what I want. It is by far the farthest flying disc thrown thumber/tomahawk style I've EVER thrown. I could hit 300+ (more accurately mind you) when normally I can only get 220-240 feet at best. The plastic does beat in quick though.

I bought this disc as part of an aerobie starter kit prior to playing my first disc golf round. I come from an ultimate background so overhands were comfortable for me. So...on a tight course I started hucking them. This thing went everywhere. And I mean everything from a pure shank to an ... uh ... epic, towering overhead park job. 3 years on, I have little more control over this disc than that first day. I really can't imagine it ever finding a place back in my now full bag. I do throw it in the field for giggles and the occasional miraculous corkscrew overhead shot.

Overall it’s an alright disc. Since the rim is intended to be bent the plastic is very malleable. If you hit a tree the plastic won’t tear or crack but it’s permanently warped not in a good way though.

I rate this disc as terrible for beginners, but really it is terrible for everybody. This is one of those discs that I just wish didn't exist, and it does only because of its gimmicky nature. The disc does not fly great (okay watching it in a good tomahawk is kinda cool) and the plastic definitely needs some work. Because of the tunable nature of the disc, the plastic has to be flexible and have some give to it, which results in cheap plastic that gets gouged really easily.

I feel like everybody who has owned one of these got it because of a friend who was just as inexperienced as them told them it was great and to give it a try. While it is initially fun to throw, it just isn't meant for disc golf. It teaches bad habits and hinders learning of other techniques that would be better suited for beginner players.

Hello Distance Overhands, Goodbye Shoulder Joint

The Epic exists for one reason: throwing booming tomahawks and thumbers. It's weird, gimmicky, and the plastic is whack. It is tuneable to get the flight you want, but that flight will only last one throw before you have to re-tune. I have personally witnessed my friend blast an Epic over 450 feet on flat ground. I can never get it that far, because throwing it hurts the heck out of my shoulder. It will blast, but only for overhands...kind of a "what's the point" type disc. Hilariously, this disc is PDGA approved.

Very fun. Easily tuneable. I find it more consistent than i thought it wouldbe with having to bend it to do what you want.

I'm new to the sport and can't throw backhand for distance .most of my throws are sidearm and man does this disc work great for me . Tomahawk with this disc is pretty awesome to watch it flip and turn and smooth out to really weird approach.

I would like to update this review a bit, Even with the tweaking mentioned, over time the backhands with this disc have become inconsistant. I still love it for overhands, and even more so for this reason: I have discovered it floats in water. Those long shots over lakes are much easier now.

This is actually a great disc. I bought one and found one. I'll admit I never figured out the one I bought... great overhand, but the backhand didn't work. Just a bit of tuning on the one I found though, and I found myself overshooting baskets I can't even reach with any other disc by 50 or 60 feet. If you get it right, this disc is fantastic.
