I have a couple pre flight number Vikings, and they are amazing. The Viking holds dead straight for its entire flight when thrown flat. If thrown on anhyzer, the Viking will slowly pan to flat. 10/10

This thing is so underrated! I use mine for some tighter fairways in the woods because the turn is just subtle enough to where it does pan out too much on at max power. The champion plastic is definitely stable, but perhaps you can make some more interesting lines with the DX plastic. All in all, a solid driver for someone looking to step into some faster discs, but not as understable as a sidewinder/roadrunner.

This is the disc that I've had in my bag the longest. When I was newer to the game it was my main backhand distance driver and it worked great for straight shots with some mild forward fade. As I've improved and my Champion Viking (169g) has seen more use, I'm able to turn it more on flat release but it still has some fade so I get nice long flex shots out of it. On a slight hyzer flip it carries straight a long way straight with a gentle fade. Feels like a more stable Valkyrie to me and I'd say the stability is pretty neutral, right between over and understable. It's been too long since I've had a new Viking to throw but for average arms (~300-330ft. backhand), it's a great disc as it's worn in. 

This disc is a very pleasant surprise that has found a spot in my bag for some pretty specific throws. The champion plastic obviously feels very stiff and controllable and adds a little bit of extra stability overall. I hardly ever throw this backhand, as I mainly use it for long straight tunnel shots that I need to rip out forehand and let it fade out right or shorter spike forehands that I can just toss up to the left a bit and have it come crashing down right. The low glide gives me confidence for pretty accurate position placement. I have a metal flake teebird3 that i feel is the compliment as a backhand. Similar in speed and stability but the rim on the viking feels more comfortable on that forehand. overall great disc. I'd give it a 4.5 stars mainly because i think there are better backhand discs.

This disc is the perfect disc for those trying to enter the realm of distance drivers but haven't developed the arm to throw a 12+ speed disc. 9 speed I found to be that magic number for those up and comers. I wouldn't call this disc "overstable" even with champion plastic, but I wouldn't call it understable. Just somewhere in the middle. I do find that this is a disc you will eventually outgrow as I catch myself reaching for my Thunderbird in its place. Dont let that discourage you, this is that magic disc that will aid a beginner in stepping up to the next level, and it still finds use when I need to run a slightly more technical line. I would call it a compromise between a Savant a Thunderbird.

The Viking helped me move up to discs that are faster than mid ranges.  The flight chart is very accurate and it does not take a crazy strong arm to get it to do its thing.  For me this fits the gap between fairways and distance drivers perfectly.  It will give you a little extra distance than a fairway but still be pretty accurate.

The Savant and Viking are very similar, where to me it seems like the Savant is really just a new incarnation and the Viking will begin to be phased out.

Before the Savant, I was throwing a Viking over a Valkryrie just because it seemed a bit more dependable. While the Valk gets those famous curvey glidey pretty shots, the Vikings just gets the job done. Trust these much more in the wind and for forehand. Basically a beat in Thunderbird to me!

I like this disc but always seem to use my Valkyrie instead. I think that it is a little less understable and will become used more as I gain more confidence with more stable discs. 

 In the hand the Viking has a very comfortable but substantial feeling rim that is just deep enough. The Viking is equally strong throwing Forehand and Backhand offering just the right amount of stability combining some turn with a smooth fade.Most vikings i've thrown have a had a very flat top and i generally go for them around 175g.

The Viking flies like a perfectly beat in Thunderbird  out of the box and as such can be bent to fly many different lines, As it breaks in it can be used for crazy hyzer-flip distance and straight rollers. Forehand this disc goes surprisingly far, start out on a hyzer and watch this disc pop to flat and just glide. Backhand this disc will crush when thrown with enough power and in champion plastic it offers a nice fade for slower arms and will iron out to a perfectly straight fade with more power making it very easy to shape shots with.

The Viking is stable enough for light headwinds but prefers a tailwind. The only adjustment you need to make in a tailwind is to just throw the disc flat and let its natural turn do the work for you. If you can read the wind correctly this disc will work in a crosswind situation but ultimately this disc won't be your windy day disc.

As far as beginners go: assuming you have reached the point where highspeed fairways are accessible this disc will probably suit a reasonably skilled rec player quite well. The disc is only offered in Champion and DX, DX probably being the better choice for beginners and then discing up to the Champion once their power gets dialed in.

Overall, The Viking crushes and is a really fun disc to use. It is accessible and versatile enough to offer you some decent tools in that highspeed fairway class without a lot of power. Where the Viking falls short is it's plastic types... and ultimately what caused me to lower my score. For casual golfers DX plastic will be fine but not offering this disc in Pro or Star line is a massive disappointment and disservice to the mold. I used a Viking for nearly a year in Champ plastic and was one of my favorites in my bag but ultimately I found myself gravitating to the more readily available Thunderbird since I wanted to minimize my molds and my preference is to the more grippy plastic blends.

The Viking for me is a straight flyer with a nice bit of fade at the end.  The Viking to me seems almost like a longer Teebird with just a hint of turn. I also find a works ok even into a bit of a head wind.  If you like a Valkyrie and want something very similar and a bit better for in the wind try a Viking.  Maybe a bit much for a beginner just starting out.

A straight shooter at it's core but able to make it turn in either direction with a toss or flick. The turn increases as the champion becomes broken in. I've thrown this disc for multiple years and happy with the multiple aces and steady shots it provides. Highly underrated.

I liked the Viking a lot when I first started playing disc golf. The Valkyrie is too understable for me for flick shots, but the Viking flys well and works for forehand throws. It's not a must have, but it is a good mostly straight flying disc for intermediate frolfers.
