    Pro-D Details

Pro-D is Discrafts affordable basic plastic blend. This isn't the most durable plastic, but it provides good grip and is very affordable. For old school disc golfers that like to "break in" thier discs for varying flight paths, Pro-D is an excellent choice. It is also one of the most popular blends for putters and is often referred to as "putter line" plastic.

Bought a Soft Magnet upon recognizing my own preference for soft putters. The feel seemed right, floppy and soft even new from the store. Mine is stamped with the flight numbers listed on this rating rather than those at the top of the page.

However, the first couple of rounds I played with it proved frustrating. In spite of the flexible, soft feel in my hands, it was prone to bad bounces and even hit me with a couple of long rollaways after putt attempts that were rejected by chains. It was frustrating enough that I tucked it in the basement for a few months, thinking I would just trade it away at some point.

Thankfully that never happened, because when I brought it back out suddenly the Soft Magnet and I were singing in harmony. It's become one of my most trusted choices for putts in the circle. Beyond that, it only gets used rarely for approach shots as it turns over too easily for my liking.

I got this in the starter pack when I first started. I liked it and bought two more. If you like the soft plastic around the chains, these just go in. If you want a throwing putter to use in the woods, these just work. If they hit trees and warp, you can just bend it back into place. After a while it doesn't even matter. A lot of reviews talk about the disc being too understable, but if you change your power grip out with a control grip, the disc gets a bit more nose up and can actually hold hyzer lines without skying out.  All three of mine have the same flights as eachother- on a flat release: dead straight for 230 and a bit of a late flip. On hyzer, a bit of a flip up to flat for 250 with a late turn as well if thrown hard enough. On an anny line, these things will be super consistent if you get the angles right. All around, this disc has helped me get my form where it is now (I even learned to properly sidearm with this disc) and it will be more helpful in the long run for your form.

I've been able to use this disk at a tops of 270 ft. Throwing it backhand with a little anhyzer this disk fly's strait at exactly a perfect line and just drops in right at what your aiming for. Throw it with your forearm with a little anhyzer it does the same thing. I can put at 20 feet and drain putts. I love this disk and recommend it for pros and beginners.

I have the regular Magnet in Jawbreaker and bought a Soft Magnet as a cheap practice putter. I actually like the Soft Magnet better as it's more durable and a bit grippier. I use it just for circle 1 or close circle 2 putts as it's a bit too understable for me to use as a throwing putter. The rim has a nice comfortable spot that's perfect for resting a finger on which is a nice bonus. If you're considering a Magnet, get one in Pro-D not Jawbreaker

This is another older school disc that has to be at least 25 years old. I have thrown it before on different occasions and bagged it as well. Back then the Pro D plastic was actually very stiff, which was pretty ironic when the disc says "soft" Magnet. I believe all Pro D run now is softer and more grippy, but does warp easier and take to beating in rather quickly.

Fight numbers for me I would say are spot on except the fade. This disc has virtually none. So I will say 0.5 for fade. Glide might even be a smidge more too. This is a straight flier, more turn then fade if anything!

I used to putt with Soft Magnets. Even for over a year, which was quite a long time for me with one putter at the time. I absolutely loved the feel of the plastic and how it just seemed to be pulled in by the chains. Pretty straight as a putter and will go pretty much where you putt it. I have since been threw several more putters and settled on one that I have used for over 4 years (MVP Atom) but I feel like the Soft Magnets are still worthy of a good review. Great putter, just not the one I chose to stick with for the long haul.

Good neutral putter. Love it or hate it shape with a bead. I've got several of these and use them mainly for upshots, I used them for circle putts for a while but struggled with consistency and switched to Wizards. Love the grip in the snow if you are into that kind of thing.

Main complaint is that Pro-D is the least durable plastic I've used from any company. These get chewed up in a month if you play often and I tended to retire 2 or 3 a year as a weekend warrior. Spend the extra couple bucks for Jawbreaker.

The Magnet, from Discraft, has been a very popular putter mold for a long time now. This is a very neutral flying disc that excels in and out outside the circle for putting. When I used it off the tee, I really could dial it in like I would like. It lacked stability that I am used to when driving. I did, however, enjoy the Magnet for touch upshots that didn't require much power. This is a great option for those getting into the sport or experienced players looking to try a new disc.

This is the first putter I ever owned and it is still in my bag.... Super soft and sticks to the chains.  It is SO broken in that I can throw it on an Annie line and it will hold all the way.  Just last week I was unfortunately stuck behind a cluster of trees about 35 feet out and it held the Annie and hugged the trees and stuck in the chains for the bird!

DEFINITELY not for driving!  Way too soft.

This was one of those putters that I used at the beginning of my disc golf career when trying to find something that worked for me. This putter was not the answer to those problems. I am not a fan of soft plastic discs (it shames me to have a soft putter in my bag currently, but there is something to be said about them sticking a shot so I have that) but did not know that before purchasing this disc.

Part of the issue I had with this disc was the inconsistency in its flight, but I blame most of that on it being a soft putter. I just couldn't get the feel for it, nor did I see any of my friends getting the feel for it either meaning I don't think it was just me creating the issue. There are much better putters on the market, even when saying putters are up to the user.

My Discraft Pro D Soft Magnet is my go-to putter when I need to feel confident over a putt.  I really like the soft, but not too gummy, feel of the disc in my hand.  I like how I can putt and toss this disc  inside the circle, through the edge of the circle, up through 100 feet away.  Finally, I love how this disc flies for turbo putts.

I do NOT like to throw this disc with a lot of power as it can do some squirrel-ly things in the air.  I do NOT like to throw this disc from my forehand side, unless I am just flicking a short approach around a tree close to the basket.

At the end of the day, the Soft Magnet is a great putting putter, plain and simple.  I know that when I need to drain a putt for the win, I want my Soft Magnet in my hand.

Bought the Discraft beginner set that was widely released and this is the only disc still in my bag after two + years.  Will go where you want it and gummy feel gives you confidence it wont roll out of the chains and basket.  Also sits down nicely (usually ) after hitting the basket or headband.

Like many this was my first putter. After years of playing this disc is still in my bag. It is super beat in now and is the disc a reach for when I need a disc that will turn over. I can throw it on an anhyzer and it hold that line and come back with a gentle fade and sit with no risk of rolling away. Great for getting around trees and tricky spots.

The disc is soft but not a taco (if you want a taco check DGA's Blowfly). The plastic has great grip even when wet and although the Pro-D plastic is inexpensive and beats in quickly it just gets better with age. Being softer it isn't as likey to bouce of the chain as stiffer versions of this disc. Highly recommend this putter.

I love the soft magnet! It's gummy feel is great in the hand and I love putting with it. Because of the soft plastic, this disc is more likely to stick on upshots, and some would argue more likely to grab the chains when you putt. This is a great disc, especially for beginners. Like the magnet, the only thing I don't like with this disc is how it feels when I try to drive it. It flies great, but I don't love the feel of the rim in my hand for drives. For putts and approaches, this is a great disc!

This was actually my first putter and I still use it now. It is a fun one for sure and can be used for a lot of different kinds of shots.

Like many others, this was my first putter. It is a great beginner disc, and is nice and soft to grab the chains. These are easy to find which makes it a good choice for a first disc.
