This disc is my go-to forehand power shot disc. I don't have the strongest or most reliable forehand, but with this disc I can always get a good shot in. I put this on a slight flex line and this is the most reliable distance I currently have on the forehand side. The flight numbers on this disc are also very accurate. Not quite firebird stability, but a notch up from the thunderbird. Every run I've ever held of this disc, is almost completely board flat, nice and smooth rim and flies absolutely great! For players without a lot of power, this disc will fill the slot of a firebird (or similar disc).

I know what i want out of this disc and it provides exactly that. forehand (for me) is a stable flight, the back hand seems to be more overstable than forehand

    ESP - 172g

I wish Innova would make the Firebird in a non Champion plastic more often. Z-Line and Champion plastics are too slippery for my forehand shots, but the ESP and Star plastics seem to give me more grip.

The Raptor is a utility disc for slower arms or a great forehand driver for stronger speeds. It has the most reliable fade (RHFH) to the right, but it will not dump out too early if you get enough snap and spin on the disc. Right now I am able to get about 250' - 275' with a solid pull, working my way up to 300'.

Love the look of the swirls in the ESP plastic.

I have an ESP Raptor at 173 grams. I am a right-handed, backhand-dominant player, and I wanted to step up my forehand game. Finding an overstable fairway driver seemed like a logical step in the right direction. I waffled back and forth between a few options. Finally, after some research, I went with the ESP Raptor because I wanted a fairway driver that was overstable yet easy to control on various angles. I was not disappointed.

I am not exceptionally talented at forehand shots, but the Raptor changed everything. It's perfect for flex forehand shots because it will always fight out of the anhyzer angle, it goes dead straight and fades hard to the right when thrown flat, and it gets incredible distance on a hyzer line. In addition, the lower glide makes it really easy to slice through the tightest fairways. My confidence in my forehand has increased dramatically because of the Raptor.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good this disc is for backhand throws too. The Raptor is very versatile for an overstable disc. It's excellent for spike-hyzer shots, but it is also a great disc to throw flat into a headwind because of its reliable fade.

I am looking forward to exploring more possibilities with this disc.

While I do not own the Raptor in any other plastics, Discraft's Z-Line plastic tends to be more stable than ESP, so if you're looking more for a utility driver, I would go with Z-line. I personally love ESP because of its visual appeal, durability, and feel, but it's not for everyone.

The Raptor is an overstable fairway. In ESP plastic it's probably the least stable of the different plastics Discraft offers it in. This disc starts out straight for 300+ feet and then a moderate fade out the end for people with 450+ feet of power. It beats into a very straight flyer. I started using this disc for forehands and loved it because it doesn't hook as much as a firebird and is way more workable on different angles. As I've had it longer it's one of my go to backhand discs as well for hyzer, straight to hyzer, and when beat in dead straight.

I picked this disc up fairly early in my disc golf life, and couldn't throw it for about a year. It was just too overstable. Now that I'm getting a bit more experienced, I can finally use this disc as it was intended and I am loving it. This is a fantastic forehand disc, as it can handle a lot of torque.

I also have a firebird, which has similar flight numbers and flight path. I find the two discs follow almost the same line and land within about 20 ft of each other. Very comparable and I can't say which I like better. I rate both very highly.

I have really enjoyed using the raptor as my go-to overstable fairway. I have a bottom-stamped 2019 Uli raptor and it flies like a dream. Thrown hard and flat it will right straight and then have a dependable fade at the end. I can push this disc just past 300 feet or so. I love it for forehands and force-over flex shots. Mine has started to beat in a bit but it still holds up to any wind I run in to.

I wasn't a huge fan of fairway drivers before I came across the Raptor. Highly recommend the ESP plastic. It is a solid disc that can take a beating. The flight characteristics are very similar to the Wasp mid-range with a lot more distance. Easy to control, consistent fade, and great feel for forehand shots.

I really appreciate this disc. I don't think it's quite as stable as a Firebird but I like that I can trust this disc to finish left (RHBH) for me every time I throw it regardless of the wind conditions. I'm also a huge fan of Uli so this was my first Discraft disc and I've picked up a few more since.

The Raptor is a great disc for many things.  I use this disc for shorter forehand shots (250ft and below) that provides a reliable strong skip.  These discs are very overstable but fly wonderfully.  The Raptor is also a great backhand disc to use where you also need a big skip to get under low ceilings or for big spike hyzers on holes that are 300 feet or less.

I bought this disc on a whim and am so glad I did.  The flight is so smooth with a reliable finish without being too overstable.  Where it really shines for me is if I have an upshot but the distance is just a bit too far to flick my gator.  A smooth forehand with the raptor follows the same flight path and sits down relatively quickly.

This disc is nice and over stable. Feels really good in the hand and flies pretty true to the numbers for me. Not a beginner disc at all so don't pick this up until you've got the technique and arm speed to handle it.

    Disc - 172 Tour Z Raptor

Feel - The raptor has a slightly different feel than other overstable 9 speed drivers. It has a lip like feeling on the very bottom edge of the rim and it is shallower than the firebird or the felon.

Flight - The raptor is another great option as the overstable fairway driver in your bag. It really comes down to feel in my opinion. It is probably not quite as stable as a FAF, firebird, or a LucidX Felon but it is still plenty overstable to get the job done in my opinion.

Overall - In my opinion it really is feel for your overstable fairway driver and the raptor is the most shallow and has a different shaped rim than many other ones that I've felt.

This is Discraft's answer to the Ffirebird, and did they ever answer

The feel of the rim is slightly different than a Firebird but not by much. Flight is OS like a firebird and the same speed.

The big difference is that Discraft is dominating the swirl game with amazing swirls in both ESP and Z plastic

I have the Raptor in the swirly esp Paul Ulibarri 2019 tour series and a first run Z series. The Z plastic is much more over stable than the esp and takes longer to beat in, in my opinion. The tour ESP is much softer feel in the hand and the edge doesn't feel as sharp. I use the esp plastic for straight shots that I know I need to avoid a turnover on. The Z plastic is more over stable to me, it wants to fight to the ground very quickly, good for spike hyzers and skip shots. Players with more arm speed will find this disc will fly straight the finish with good fade and skip.
