You cant go wrong with this pack. Its obviously geared to beginner players, because the discs are so understable, but they fly far and the plastic feels awesome. Its soft and very grippy, but is not damaged as easily as some other base plastics that I have used. Even though its great for beginners, I think that more skilled players could also use these. I particularly liked the midrange and it worked great for short turnover shots. 

This starter set is probably the most true-to-the-name disc golf set I've ever used. Every one of these discs was incredible easy to throw, and would be awesome for anybody just getting in to the sport. The soft plastic just felt good in my hand, and after playing with them for a while, seemed to "bounce back" from any hard hits. Absolutely would recommend for beginning players!

The X-Com disc golf starter set is flat out one of the best affordable starter sets for beginners available.

Besides the fact that this set is less expensive, the thing that make this set so much better than the competition is just how good these discs are for beginners.

The Bennu putter is just an amazing straight flying putter. This disc has an excellent feel and is good for both putting and approach shots. The Bennu is ultra straight flying and doesn't have much end of flight fade which is a must have in a starter set. 

The Griffin midrange is super easy to throw and is a straight flyer with almost no fade. It's hard to find golf discs that stay dead straight for newer players but the Griffin accomplishes this purpose. If you need the disc to turn right, throw it at an outside up anhyzer angle. Want a left finish, pint the outside down on a hyzer angle. Want a straight flight, throw it flat.

The Helios driver is the ideal base plastic driver for beginners. This disc is really easy to get distance with. The Helios in this set is light weight and will turn easily providing max S-Curve distance.

Now the X-Com set is in a base plastic. It is a good base plastic, but does wear easily. If you're going to play thickly wooded courses or areas with lots of rocks, you may want to consider a more durable set, but if your just looking for great flying discs at an affordable price, the X-Com starter set is as good as it gets.
