Dalton Hastings, PDGA#101247, a 20-year-old student at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. Currently, I'm an active member of the college disc golf team, balancing academic life with my passion for the sport. I started playing disc golf at 13 but was always very committed to baseball. While completing my senior year of high school baseball and my freshman year of college baseball I didn't play any tournament rounds from April 2021 until June 2023. When I decided to recommit to disc golf in June of 2023 it took a short time to shake off the rust but quickly raised my rating from 934 to 991 in 5 months. I don't regret taking time away from disc golf to play baseball because I've learned even more about competition and teamwork while making memories that will last a lifetime. I credit my time as a pitcher for helping strengthen my mental game while also keeping me in shape and explosive. I'm glad to be back focusing on disc golf because it's a sport I truly love and I feel like it's my real future as an athlete. Now that I have the chance to dedicate more time to disc golf my talent has shown flashes of the dominance I know I'm capable of refining as I continue to focus. In the suburbs of Chicago, I'm known as either "the nicest guy on every course" or "the kid who absolutely crushes". I love making new friends on the disc golf course, and I love playing with and listening to the perspectives of, people who play 750 golf or 1020 golf.
